This milestone achievement maintains the department as a nationwide indus-try leader and is a testament to the department’s commitment to bringing the residents of Orange County fast and efficient services. The department reached its 7 millionth electronically submitted document back in September 2014. While recording real property documents electronically is a common service today, in 1997 Orange County changed the industry by implementing the first elec-tronic recording delivery system in the nation. Current Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen was part of the team that im-plemented the first system. “People thought that it wouldn’t work,” Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen said. “Many County Recorders in California couldn’t envision how a secure electronic process could
be implemented. We worked with title industry leaders, overcame legal barriers and created a secure electronic delivery system. The new process required legislative approval and a lengthy two year process to work with the State on regulations. In 1997, the Orange County system was the pilot program which proved the concept did work and formed the foundation for today’s system guidelines and procedures.” Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen attributes much of the success to the vision of the late Gary Granville who was the Clerk-Recorder in 1997. The electronic recording system has provided efficiencies by reducing delivery expenses and staff time. Currently the department records 64% of all documents submitted for recording electronically. In 2008, the department joined with Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego Counties to implement the current electronic delivery system known as SECURE. This system allows title, escrow, finan-cial and government institutions to record property documents electronically to multiple counties from one single computer screen.

Maurice Braun, Land of Sunshine PRICELESS OCHS COLLECTION OF CALIFORNIA IMPRESSIONIST ART TO BE EXHIBITED AT CASA ROMANTICA
Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is proud to announce its upcoming Open Casa exhibition I Love You, California: The Peter and Gail Ochs Collection. The exhibition, which is on view from November 3, 2017 through February 18, 2018, is a prominent collection of California Impressionist art. Among the Ochs’ current collection, 25 of the most-prized landscape works will be hung at Casa Romantica. Some of the exhibition’s highlights include William Wendt’s Sunny Slopes, Granville Redmond’s California Symphony, and Maurice Braun’s enormous work The Land of Sunshine. Other artists whose works will be shown include Franz Bischoff, Carl Oscar Borg, Benjamin Chambers Brown, Colin Campbell Cooper, Frank Cuprien, John Marshall Gamble, Joseph Kleitsch, Jean Mannheim, Alfred Mitchell, Edgar Payne, Hanson Duvall Puthuff, Arthur Grover Rider, Jack Wilkinson Smith, and Elmer Wachtel. The Ochs lend work to museum institutions as part of their sense of responsibility to make this historic art accessible to the public. I Love You, California: The Peter and Gail Ochs Collection is only the second time that such a great percentage will be exhibited. Casa Romantica Executive Director Berenika Schmitz cultivated a relationship with Peter and Gail during her participation in a leadership program organized by the Fieldstone Foundation, which the Ochs founded to empower nonprofit leaders. “Sitting in the Fieldstone Foundation conference room during our meetings, I could not help but be Page 6
captivated by the incredible artworks that hung on the walls. The inspiring environment that the Ochs created with their private collection, along with the passion of my fellow nonprofit leaders, motivated my desire to share this ultimately invigorating experience with our community. “Private collections are distinctive because they express something personal about the collectors. From the beginning, therefore, it was important that I curate this exhibition from the heart, not only from my knowledge of the prestige of this collection. The exhibition is titled ‘I Love You, California,’ our state’s song, and I selected the works that appear in our Open Casa exhibition because they capture the adoration by these great masters for our naturally blessed California landscape. I paired the works with quotes from the great author and naturalist John Muir, who also loved the California wilderness. Our intent is that the walls of our gallery will inspire awe.” Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is proud to present a carefully selected variety of historic and contemporary art exhibitions which bring international talent in San Clemente. From 2014-2017, the institution put on a quarterly exhibition of works from the E. Gene Crain Collection, one of the most important collections of California watercolors with works from Phil Dike, Rex Brandt, and Millard Sheets, among others. Its most recent contemporary exhibition, Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law, received national press for its immersive beauty and ingenuity. Casa Romantica was named Outstanding Arts Organization of 2017 by Arts

Orange County (ArtsOC). About Peter and Gail Ochs Peter Ochs is the chairman and former CEO of the Fieldstone Group of Companies, one of California and the West’s largest homebuilding companies. He became the company’s founder and president in 1979, and began building a corporate collection soon afterward with his wife Gail. The Ochs remember: “Almost 40 years ago we began to dream about developing a collection of art that could be both personally enjoyable and also have broader meaning. We found ourselves drawn to California Impressionism, focusing only on work created by Southern California artists in Southern California. It captured a unique period of time in California history … a time of major growth and change as people by the tens of thousands began to pour into the relatively uninhabited southern part of the State. “It is our hope that the beauty of today’s California will be preserved for future generations just as these early artists preserved for us the beauty as it once was. We share with them a love of the land and that special quality of art and light which has created such a remarkable place for us all.” The Ochs began collecting intensely, causing the Los Angeles Times to comment in a 1987 article that they were “one of Orange County’s most visible patrons of the arts.” Peter Ochs retired in 1993 at the age of 50 to focus his time on the couple’s philanthropic and missionary-based efforts through their charitable organizations Fieldstone
Foundation and First Fruit. Works from the Peter and Gail Ochs collection have been exhibited in southern California at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, the Irvine Museum, and the Laguna Art Museum, among others, and have been published in several books about California Impressionist art. In addition, work from the collection has been shown in various other museums across the country. Opening reception and general admission The opening reception of I Love You, California will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6-8pm, and is free to attend. Complimentary wine and cheese will be served. The exhibition will be on view to the public daily during Casa Romantica public hours through Sunday, February 18, 2017. Access to the exhibition is included with the $5 general admission fee to Casa Romantica. Casa Romantica will be closed on all Mondays and national holidays; please call in advance of your visit. General information can be found online at www.CasaRomantica.org, by calling (949) 498-2139, or by visiting the institution at 415 Avenida Granada in San Clemente. WORLD CHAMPION COWBOYS HEAD TO SOUTH ORANGE COUNTY TO COMPETE IN AMERCIA’S RICHEST TWO DAY RODEO! Ra ncho Mis s ion V iejo Rodeo Here T h i s We e k e n d
Photo by Kay Levie The nation’s top rodeo cowboys, ride into San Juan Capistrano this weekend – August 26 and 27, 2016 for the 17th Annual Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo, the richest two-day rodeo in America! Conducted at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano, the annual Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo will produce some of the finest rodeo action in the nation as “the best of the best” in rodeo compete for $175,000 in prize money. Events scheduled for the two-day rodeo include Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Steer Wrestling and Team Roping. Tickets are on sale now and will also be available at the Rodeo on a first come, first serve basis. “The 17th Annual Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo will feature the top 30 World Champion cowboys competing in each of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) events as they try to qualify for a place in the National Finals Rodeo,” said Gilbert Aguirre, Rodeo Committee President and Executive Vice President of Ranch Operations for Rancho Mission Viejo LLC, manager of the historic Rancho Mission Viejo cattle ranch in Orange County and master planner and developer of the Rancho Mission Viejo community. Aguirre noted that, while the annual Rodeo is a festive celebration of the golden age of early California rodeo tradition, it’s also an important part of the legacy of the Rancho Mission Viejo landholdings, which have been under the stewardship of the O’Neill/Moiso family since 1882. “This event is not only about wild horses and even wilder cowboys,” added Aguirre. “Hosting the Rodeo is our way of showing folks that we have a tremendous Western heritage, one that we feel privileged to share. The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo allows us to keep our region’s cowboy culture alive while honoring the old cowboy tradition of
‘passing the hat’ in support of a sick child or needy friend.” Over the course of the last 17 years, $1.9 million in Rodeo proceeds have been donated to local charities. This year’s beneficiaries are the J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center in San Juan Capistrano, CHOC at Mission Hospital and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley. More than 9,000 Rodeo fans are expected to attend over the weekend. In addition to the excitement taking place in the arena, attendees will have access to nearly 60 vendor
booths and activities for the whole family. Attractions include a beer garden, live music, mechanical bull riding, official rodeo gear and pony rides. The schedule of events is as follows: Saturday, August 26 1:00 p.m. – Gates Open 3:45 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies 4:00 p.m. – Rodeo Begins 6:00 p.m. – Concert (Grand Junction) Sunday, August 27 11:30 a.m. – Gates Open

Shea Therapeutic Riding Center Raises over $780,000 from “FANTASHEA” Gala Bill and Jenny Klein. Photos by: Pixel That! Photography “FANTASHEA—An Evening of Enchantment” drew a sold-out crowd of 430 friends and generous sponsors to support The J. F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center’s 26th annual gala at the Montage Laguna Beach. It was a comfortable coastal late afternoon that began on the Pacific Lawn that led into an evening of fun, entertainment, sociability, gourmet food and drink, awards, extraordinary auction items and dancing into the night. The gala raised funds to support one of the leading therapeutic riding centers in the world, Shea Therapeutic Riding Center. Its mission for nearly 40 years is to improve the lives of people with disabilities through therapeutic horse-related programs. From its modern eightacre equestrian facility aside the open space of San Juan Capistrano, it annually serves over a thousand Orange County clients with special needs. One of the highlights was the “Wine Wall.” As guests approached the wall of flowers, fashionably clad white satin gloved hands reached out through the wall offering a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. It provided a great picture opportunity. This year’s Michael Lewis Friends of the Disabled Award was presented John and Sharon Frank having fun at the Live Auction with Barry to John Frank of John M. Frank Construction, Inc., and to The Spinello Axelrod. Family – Erin, Mike, Cade and Lucy. John Frank was recognized for his 11 years of invested time, treasure and talent at The Shea Center. Today, he serves as its board’s chair. The Spinellos were honored for their wonderful inspiration to other families by sharing their experience as parents to young Cade, while in the midst of their own journey to find wellness for their son. The Michael Lewis award is named after The Shea Center’s first rider in 1978. It is now given annually to celebrate the contributions of individuals, organizations, families and companies that positively affect the lives of people with disabilities at The Shea Center and in the greater community at large. This year’s featured rider was four-year-old Carter Peddie, daughter of Jenny and Will Peddie. Carter was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called PURA Syndrome with a later diagnosis of cerebral palsy. When the Shea Center came into Carter’s life at age 3, some remarkable changes occurred which were told in a moving documentary shown on the Grand Ballroom video screens. Auctioneer David Silverman then came up and presented an array of eight experiential adventures – highlights were a helicopter ride and lunch at a Temecula winery; a private dinner party for The Spinello Family-Mike & Erin 12 guests, prepared by executive chef Craig Strong at Studio, Sean Howard and Cassie and kids Lucy and Cade. Fosheim. Montage Laguna Beach; and an unforgettable week in Paris, France. Silent auction items included stylish merchandise from Balenciaga, Coach, David Yurman, Ferragamo, House of Sillage, St. John, Movado, Ralph Lauren and Tesla, along with time pieces, riding lessons, jewelry and art. Also, there was a behind-the-scenes tour during the production of NCIS, seen on CBS, and VIP tickets to Real Time with Bill Maher, seen on HBO. Shea Center Executive Director Dana Butler-Moburg, announced after the weekend that proceeds from the evening were more than $780,000. Of that amount, over $310,000 was raised by the guests in support of the Fosheim Rider Support Fund, set aside specifically for rider financial aid and horse care. “It was a fantastic evening for our guests and for our clients,” said ButlerMoburg. “The generosity of our friends was overwhelming, we are truly grateful.” The Shea Center in San Juan Capistrano, CA, is a privately funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization addressing over 80 different physical and cognitive disabilities. Licensed therapists, certified instructors, and dedicated volunteers work with carefully trained horses in modern facilities to improve client strength, coordination and ability. Many clients speak their first words or take their first step at The Shea Center. For more information, visit www. sheacenter.org. Will and Jenny Peddie. Tyler & Brooke Bengard. Page 12

The Del Mar Race Track; An Experience to Treasure
Winner Circle With Mrs California, Mrs. Ontario, Winning Horse Mr. Hinx and owner Barber Gary Photos by William Casper Story By: Malinda HutchinsMrs. Ontario-America 2017 Walking through the ticket gates at the Del Mar Race track was an exhilarating experience. I knew I was in for a treat and excitement was in the air as the patrons flooded through the ticket gates. The energy from the grandstands, holding nearly 44,000 people, Where beautifully dressed women, who upheld the longstanding tradition of wearing glamorous hats. The elegant grandstands began to rumble with excitement. My husband and I, were honored to attend as Mr. and Mrs. OntarioAmerica 2017, where we joined Mr. and Mrs. California-America 2017 to present a trophy to one of the winners. With the electric starting gate positioned on the track in front sight, the trumpeter, Les Kepics, played the classic melody “Boots and Saddles”; As you may already know Thoroughbred horses have been called to post ten minutes prior to the race time for well over a century with the brief rendition of “Boots and Saddles” which has been synonymous with starting off the races since Del Mar first opened in 1937. The “Real Good Deal Stakes “ is exclusively reserved for California bred 3 year olds, As one of the invited guests, it was my honor and priviledge to present the awards to the winner of that showcased sixth race, Gallantly, some with a bit of race time anxiety, the beautiful thoroughbred horses galloped around as their Jockeys gracefully saddled up and
mounted their horses , proceeded to promptly make their way over to the track, taking their places . We also took our place lined on the very edge of the track anticipating the starter to fire his pistol and start the race. It was, in my opinion, the best seat in the house. From there the crowd roars behind, we could smell the earthy fragrance of the freshlyraked turf on the track, and the sweet ocean breeze and feel the pounding of the horses’ hooves as they thundered over the finish line. It was an honor presenting Flavien Malinda Hutchins Mrs Ontario, Les Kepic and Kristi Eddy Prat, who rode Gary Barber’s “Mr. Mrs. California Hinx,” into victory. “Mr. Hinx” trained by Steven Miyadi , surged to the lead winning $85,000 for their share of the $150,000 “Real Good Deal Stakes. ” and was a great victory to add to Mr. Hinx career earnings which are estimated to be nearly $326,048. To conclude our eventful evening at the track, we were invited to enjoy an awesome concert performance by The Violent Femmes who performed as part of Del Mar’s Summer Concert Series. The Del Mar Concert Series will continue on this summer to include such artists as Lord Huron, Slightly Stoopid, The Revivavlists, and Steve Aoki. After the last race, admission into the concert is only $20. Concerts are free with racetrack admission, Grandstand admission before the last race is only $6. There’s a smile on every face and a winner of every race. Where the Turf Meets the Surf at Del Mar! -Bing Crosby Kristi Eddy Mrs. California and Malinda Hutchins Mrs. Ontario The San Clemente News

You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. If you wish to learn whether your sa le date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 916-939-0772 for information regarding the trustee’s sale or visit this Internet Web site http://www.qualityloan.com , using the file number assigned to this foreclosure by the Trustee: CA-15-687285-RY . Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. If no street address or other common designation is shown, directions to the location of the property may be obtained by sending a written request to the beneficiary within 10 days of the date of first publication of this Notice of Sale. If the sale is set aside for any reason, including if the Trustee is unable to convey title, the Purchaser at the sale shall be entitled only to a return o f the monies paid to the Trustee. This shall be the Purchaser’s sole and exclusive remedy. The purchaser shall have no further recourse against the Trustor, the Trustee, the Beneficiary, the Beneficiary’s Agent, or the Beneficiary’s Attorney. QUARTER PAGE COLOR This month I have terrific low prices on quarter page full color ad packages. Plus you can choose to either pre pay or pay as you go. But remember these rates apply only if you order this month. Smart business owners and marketing experts agree that the best advertising program is one which brings you clients and customers. Savvy business managers are wise to be concerned about high volume publications that don’t deliver a strong local audience that would generate immediate income for your business. Major daily newspapers like the Times and the Register reach nearly a million readers, but do you really need to pay their high prices to reach your customers in San Clemente, Talega, Dana Point? While some glossy monthly magazines are stylish, their costly rates may not be realistic compared to choosing a highly effective newspaper like these reasonably priced local newspapers which are received by your most likely preferred customers of high income homeowners. This advertising costs you far less money. These five local newspapers are attractive, effective and affordable. Let’s talk today!
