SITE 1-‐450smith street ( apartment Harris HMJ) GLOSSARY: Post tension cable-‐cables, composed of steel wire inserted in to a plas<c sheath are subsequently tensioned and grouted aBer the concrete is poured. Allows thinner slabs and allow greater span lengths between the support columns Bored pier-‐used when the ground condi<ons are considered to be good. constructed with circular augers and filled with concrete and steel and reinforcement. Par1 walls-‐ wall that are between two separate proper<es. the wall requires insulated material covered with fireproof plasterboards.

STRUCTURAL CONCEPT & STYSTEM ü  Concrete slab structure ü  Design construc<on ü  Post tension cable* ü  Metal bracing (to hold to pre-‐cast concretes together) ü  Bored pier founda<on* approx. 16m deep CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM & PROCESS ü  Tower crane located in the center of the construc<on to maximize efficiency. ü  The floors are built level by level ü  Metal bracing and <mber table are used to form the frame structure ü  In situ concrete is pour on top of the steel flooring system (which holds the concrete together un<l it hardens ü  Par< walls* are constructed in between individual property MATERIAL ü  concrete: -‐ Pre-‐cas<ng concrete -‐ In-‐situ concrete ü  Plaster board: -‐ Fire resistant plaster board (red/pink in colour) -‐Water resistant plaster board (blue in colour) -‐ Normal plaster board (grey in colour) ü  Insulator: -‐ Thick insulator -‐ Thin insulator ü  Gas pipe: -‐ The end of the pipe are made out of rubbery material, In emergency fire events the hole closes preven<ng the gas from leaking

SITE 2: 25 george street Northcorte GLOSSARY: Ridge-‐ brand new ridge placed on the roof in living room, which is located at top edge of the roof where two adjoining surfaces meet. Ridge Board-‐ Brand new ridge board is placed on the roof, which is located under the ridge suppor<ng the raBer RaNer-‐ new raBer is plaved it is a structural member used to frame and provide support Studs-‐ Exis<ng studs are used which is a ver<cal framing mebmer suppor<ng the wall. New studs were used to support exis<ng studs. Bored pier-‐used when the ground condi<ons are considered to be good. constructed with circular augers and filled with concrete and steel and reinforcement.

STRUCTURAL CONCEPT & STYSTEM ü  New roof structure employed in the living room area by replacing new ridge, ridge board and raBer of the roof. ü  Combina<on if new and exis<ng wall structure was applied with exis<ng studs and sill is enhanced by suppor<ng it with new studs and sills. ü  New sheathing for wall structure-‐plywood. ü  New floor structures using new joists and finish flooring by applying <mber flooring ü  Due to poor soil condi<on (ac<ve soil) had to be neutralized by adding alkaline. ü  Poor soil lead to replacement exis<ng founda<on. However foo<ngs are kept. CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM & DESCRIPTION OF THE CURRENT STAGE ü  Residen<al house undergoing renova<on ü  Heritage overlay ü  Budget= $250~290K ü  Bowens and carbonlite companies involved in this project ü  Apply prefabricated method-‐ using materials which is premade ü  Installing passive housing components in the house such as, air <ght membrane MATERIAL Timber= Poor conductor; Does not conduct heat; Maintain constant ; Indoor temperature Steel= Used under the slab to support slab in sta<onary posi<on.; Minimal steel is used as it is a good conduc<on Air<ght membrane= Key driver of passive housing Plywood= Sheathing of wall structure; Affordable in price; Good performance; Modernized
