North Norfolk Community Transport Celebrates After Receiving Motability Funding

North Norfolk Community Transport (NNCT) is celebrating after receiving a grant from Motability the Charity to expand its Wheelchair Accessible Car service The new funding, totalling £148,561, will mean NNCT can support even more disabled people and people with reduced mobility to access transport so they can get to medical appointments or visit the people and places they choose

The rural nature of North Norfolk means that affordable, accessible transport is in short supply. NNCT aims to give people choice and control over where they can go, leading to improved health and wellbeing and social connections This door-to-door service is now supported by Motability who have funded the purchase of an extra vehicle, as well as the running costs of the vehicle and a driver for the next three years

DO YOU NEED HELP?

If you have a living crisis, we can help you with of NNCT, Jane Bishop said: “We are so lucky to have received this grant and it will enable us to make a commitment to support people over a sustained period of time. Although there is already a high demand for transport to medical appointments, this means we can increase our capacity so that people can get to other places This may be to attend a job interview or visit an educational institution, to attend support groups and societies, or simply wanting to see friends and family This is of particular importance for people who live alone, whether elderly people who have lost partners or young people isolated by the need to supply childcare in the home We already know, from the multiple requests we receive daily, that there is a high demand for this kind of support for disabled people in North Norfolk ”

Lisa Jones, director at Motability, said: “We’re delighted to award NNCT with this grant to support the expansion of their community transport service so that more people in North Norfolk have greater access to travel The grant comes from our portfolio of grant programmes specifically set up for charities and organisations like NNCT who are already doing so much to help disabled people access the transport they need We encourage any organisation that may be eligible for funding to have a look and apply ”
