To Enroll in Programs To enroll in most programs and workshops, fill out a Program Enrollment Form, and return it with full payment to the Kroc Center Welcome Desk. Please make sure you are looking at the right month and putting in correct numbers when entering the program registration codes. Always include your name, and the name of the family member whom you are enrolling. It is very important that we get your address in case a refund or credit needs to be applied. It would be beneficial to include phone numbers and an email address so we are able to get in touch with you if a program is cancelled, or if there is an emergency with a family member enrolled in the program. The program enrollment form can be found at the Kroc Center or online at: kroc.salvationarmysalem.org/programs All programs require payment-in-full to register, with the exception of Summer camps.

To Enroll in Camps To enroll in any of our Camp Programs* (Summer Camps, Break Camps, No School Madness Camps, Kinder Camps) please fill out the Camp Registration Packet. This form provides us with more information about the child being enrolled in camp, allowing us to better meet the needs of that child during the extended time they are spending at the Kroc Center. This form can be found online at: kroc.salvationarmysalem.org/camps or at the Kroc Center Welcome Desk. Deposits are required for Summer Camp and Kinder Camp enrollment only. *Excluding Sports & Fitness Camps (pg. 18, 19); a completed Program Enrollment Form will suffice for these.

PROGRAMENROLLMENT« Free with Membership or Day Pass programs Group Fitness/Water exercise classes, Game Room, and the Library-Media Center will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan accordingly. Kroc Management reserves the right to cancel or change a class due to low enrollment.

Program Scholarships The Kroc Center is dedicated to providing Program Scholarships to those who need financial assistance. Please fill out a Program Scholarship Application and submit 7 days prior to the class start date. This form is available at the Welcome Desk, and online at: kroc.salvationarmysalem.org/programs

Usage Waivers Any member or guest 17 years of age or under must have a parent/guardian fill out a waiver before the underaged member/guest can use the Rock Wall or the Library Media Center.

Program Withdrawal Policy A member’s withdrawal from a program or camp 7 or more days prior to the start of a program will result in a full refund, minus any non-refundable deposits or registration fees. A member’s withdrawal from a program or camp 6 or fewer days prior to the start of the program will result in a full credit on a Kroc Center Gift Card, minus a $10 administrative fee per class per participant, and any other non-refundable deposits or registration fees.

Partial Attendance No pro-rated credits will be issued for partial attendance in a program or class, or for missed days of a program or class due to illness*, behavioral issues, or any other reason. *A doctor’s note is required. Final approval may only be granted by the Director of Operations.

Refunds on Gift Cards Refunds placed on Gift Cards may be used toward any Kroc Center Programs, Day Passes, Sacred Grounds Café purchases, and other merchandise. However, they are not redeemable for cash, and will not be placed on any credit card account.

WALK-IN REGISTRATION You may register in person at The Salvation Army Kroc Center starting March 1st. Note: Incomplete registration forms will not be processed. Day Camp Counselors We feel confident that we have the best staff around! Our staff is as diverse as our campers. Most importantly, our staff is comprised of young adults who love kids. Their passion is to invest their time playing, teaching, and working with children. Our hope is for your kids to have positive role models who build confidence in every camper who walks through our doors. All Kroc Center Camp Staff are certified in basic First Aid/CPR/AED and receive extensive training prior to the start of camp. You can be sure that we are hiring the “best of the best” to work with your children.

Summer Day Camp Descriptions Monday-Friday* | 8AM-5PM *Unless otherwise noted. Your children can spend the summer at The Salvation Army Kroc Center and have a blast! Each week will have different, exciting themes that will provide them with new fun, amazing activities and knowledge. These camps offer a multi-venue experience with a variety of different activities every day. Whether you send your kids to one of our sports-themed camps, an artist’s camp, or our adventure camp, your child is sure to have a wonderful and memorable experience this summer! Note: Due to scheduled events, there is limited access to the Gym in the summer months.

KROC ADVENTURES! (Ages 5-12) This camp explores the unique activities that The Salvation Army Kroc Center has to offer. Each day campers will do activities centered around the theme for the day. Activities may include: swimming, rock climbing, traditional sports, arts & crafts, team-building & recess games, video games in the game room and so much more!

KROC OLYMPICS CAMP! (Ages 5-12) Bring home the Gold! This sports camp will explore various sports such as: soccer, flag-football, floor hockey, lacrosse, miniature golf, basketball and much more. This camp also mixes your favorite sports with unique twists and ways to play the game in new, non-traditional ways. For any skill level or ability, kids will love staying active through different crazy games and sports!

ULTIMATE SPORTS CAMP! (Ages 7-12) For the ultimate athlete who wants to sharpen their athletic abilities and enjoy playing like the pros! Each day will be devoted to developing skills and will spend time focusing on one of the following sports: Soccer, Basketball, Football, Volleyball & Baseball. Campers will practice and enhance basic athletic skills that are useful in any sport such as: passing, throwing/catching, teamwork, ball control and handeye coordination. »SUMMERCAMPS AMAZING RACE! (Ages 7-12) Campers will ‘travel’ around the world in this intense and lively camp, ‘visiting’ other countries and participating in challenges throughout the Kroc Center, including: swimming, rock climbing, group games, scavenger hunts, and more! Campers will be organized into teams and will earn points throughout the week!

PIRATE’S COVE SWIM CAMP! (Ages 7-12) Want a camp where your camper can spend time in the water and have amazing adventures? Then this is it! They will play hilarious water games, build rafts, play survivor and so much more! Campers will get to spend time in the pool every morning and will also participate in many other sports, games and activities in the duration of this week-long camp. Swimming skills required.

POSEIDON’S PARTY! (Ages 6-12) SWIM LESSONS meets CAMPS! This brand new camp gives campers the opportunity to have a swim lesson every morning and grow in their swimming skills while also participating in a fun full week of camp! The campers will be taught by certified Swim Instructors, divided up by their levels of swimming ability, and at the end of the week will bring home a report card. Campers will enjoy being a part of camps for the rest of the day, participating in Morning Rally, gym games, rock wall, and other exciting camp-related activities. (While our Pirate’s Cove Swim Camp provides awesome games for kids who already know how to swim, this new camp is a great option for those kids who are still growing in their swimming abilities.)

MUSICAL THEATER CAMP! (Ages 7-12) Cue the curtain! In this camp, your camper will have the opportunity to explore their musical and dramatic talents in a fun, and pressure-free environment! The week will conclude with a spectacular musical performance for parents and friends!

CHEER, STUNT & TUMBLE! (Ages 7-12) Pump up your spirit, because cheer camp is here! Campers will learn all about the world of cheerleading! Learn to jump, dance, cheer, stunt, and tumble. Campers will be divided into groups based on age and experience level, exploring age-appropriate techniques. Parents are invited to watch a final performance routine on Friday.

TOP CHEF CAMP! (Ages 7-12) Spatulas up! For this camp your child will join a few of our Kroc Chefs to make some delicious meals. Come learn the essentials of cooking along with a new recipe or two! Hats off to the Chef!

MAD SCIENCE CAMP! (Ages 7-12) This camp will introduce your child to the mysteries of science and the world we live in! This is designed to encourage campers to ask questions and find answers, as they explore the world of science through exciting hands-on-experiments. This unique camp will combine your child’s fascination and curiosity about science with high-energy day-camp activities to keep them moving. Don’t miss out on this camp that will exercise their brains and muscles!

SUMMERCAMPS« Rock climb!

KROC ROCK! (Ages 5-12) A rock climbing camp that is unique to Salem! Campers will learn how to tie climbing knots, basic climbing techniques such as smearing, the side pull, and body positioning for a better climb, and more! Rock climbing builds strength, flexibility, agility, confidence, and self esteem. Campers will also explore other exciting aspects of the Kroc Center!

SURVIVOR: KROC! (Ages 7-12) Your camper has been voted on the island! Your child will have the opportunity to join a team that has to “survive” in the Kroc Center for a whole week! They will have various challenges to complete throughout the week that will include: swimming, rock climbing, group games, scavenger hunts, and much more! Team-work and unity will be an emphasis for this adventurous camp! (Disclaimer: No campers will be voted off the island!)

ARTIST’S CAMP! (Ages 7-12) Pick up your brush and express yourself! Campers will explore various artistic mediums through hands-on creative opportunities, learning techniques such as perspective and basic color theory. They will have challenging and fun projects, which may include acrylic on canvas, oil pastels, and mosaics. Parents are welcome to attend our art show on Friday.

BEACH PARTY! (Ages 7-12) Wrap up your child’s summer with a Beach Party! In this camp, campers will get to play in our leisure pool and on our splash pad. They will also get to play water games & other hilarious outside activities that will make them think they’re at the beach! Weather permitting, trip to the coast included.

MESSY GAMES! (Ages 5-12) Not for the faint of heart! This camp has all the great elements of summer camp, but will add messy twists to classic games like capture the flag, dodge ball, three-legged races, relays and much, much more! Enjoy messy team building activities and be surprised at how your counselors change ordinary games into extraordinary MESSY Games! *Campers will need to wear old clothes that can get VERY messy, as well as pack an extra set of clothes or two for each day!

PROJECT RUNWAY!™ (Ages 7-12) Designers ready! Scissors up! Fashion Week is about to begin. Put your designing skills to the test preparing for a major fashion event. Campers will compete in design challenges and create outfits for the Kroc Camp Runway Show! Move over Ralph Lauren, there are a new set of designers in town. Parents are welcome to join us for a fashion show on Friday.

»SUMMERCAMPS Summer Kinder Camp Descriptions Monday-Friday | 8AM-5PM

PRINCESSES, KNIGHTS, & DRAGONS - OH MY! (Ages 4-6) Once upon a time, your little knight or princess came to the Kroc Center and signed up for Kinder Camp. While they were at camp, they explored the outer reaches of their imagination. They built and destroyed castles, dressed up in shining armor and princess dresses--and they learned exactly what it means to be a chivalrous knight or a princess at heart. They all lived happily ever after, and came back ready for another fun camp experience at the Kroc Center! Everyone loves a good fairytale, and your little one will enjoy dressing up and using their imagination during this magical camp!

CIRCUS! (Ages 4-6) Come one! Come all! To the Greatest Camp around! The Kroc is bringing the circus to you! Your camper will get to enjoy all of their favorite things about the circus such as games, face painting, balloon animals, popcorn, cotton candy and so much more!

DR. SEUSS!® (Ages 4-6) Would you, could you in a box? Would you could you with a fox? Would you come to camp to play? Would you come to camp all day? Sign up now for our week-long camp at Seussland! Your little one will enjoy games and crafts that go along with a different Dr. Seuss book each day!

FUN IN THE SUN! (Ages 4-6) Come enjoy one of the last weeks of summer at our Fun in the Sun Camp! Play water games, fun camp games, and learn about all types of summer activities. Playing outside and being active is an important part of being a kid, and this camp will plan lots of time for running around and exploring the great outdoors!

POOL TIME: Come & Play the Kroc Way! Join in the fun this summer with a variety of activities; experience “Splash Ball”, join the summer swim team, learn how to lifeguard, assist in swimming lessons, watch a movie in the pool, or learn to swim. The Kroc Aquatic department offers a 10 lane competitive pool with diving boards, a splash pad for outside enjoyment, and an exciting Light House slide within our fun-filled leisure pool. Float the lazy river, spray water from the interactive bridge, or lounge on the beach. Need something to do? We are here for YOU!

AQUATICCLASSES« 10 Summer Swimming Lessons: $35/Member, $45/Guest Session Descriptions Parent/tot (6 mo.-3 yrs.) This class is designed to help develop swimming readiness in young children by leading parents and their tots in water exploration activities, with the objective of having fun in the water.

Preschool 1 (3-5 yrs.) A beginner’s class that emphasizes water safety, water acclimation, water games and basic skills like kicking, blowing bubbles and floating.

Preschool 2 (3-5 yrs.) Development of basic aquatic skills learned in Preschool 1. Floating and propulsion skills are introduced and refined.

Preschool 3 (3-5 yrs.) For children at this level, games and play are still paramount, but more advanced skills, like rotary breathing are also introduced. This prepares kids to easily move into Level 2 when they turn six.

Level 1 (6+ yrs.) A beginner’s class emphasizing water safety, water acclimation, water games and basic skills like kicking, blowing bubbles and floating.

Level 2 (6+ yrs.) Students will work with a variety of swim aides in order to facilitate a fun and exciting learning environment. Student must be comfortable in the water; students will be working towards independent swimming.

Level 3 (6+ yrs.) Student must be an independent swimmer; students will experience a variety of water depths while working on stroke development & proficiency. Continuation of Level 2. Students must demonstrate stroke efficiency for 15 yards.

»AQUATICCLASSES Pre comp (6+ yrs.) This class is a general overview of swim team skills and drills. If you have a swimmer unsure of competition, the pre comp class is the perfect introduction. Participants experience the fun of a team sport without the competition. Swimmers should be able to demonstrate a strong freestyle and backstroke kick with a kickboard for 25 yards. Swim suit and goggles required.

Adult (16+ yrs.) It’s never too late to learn to swim or improve the skills you have. Lessons are adapted to each participants starting level so that you can become the swimmer you want to be.

about Our swim instructors Our swim instructors are 18 years of age or older, and trained to work with a variety of swimmer and non-swimmer skill levels. They are certified in Red Cross Water Safety Instructing, and CPR/AED/First Aid. Specialty Aquatic Programs jr. lifeguard camP Red Cross Guard Start: Lifeguarding Tomorrow! If your child is 11 to 14 years old and has always wanted to be a lifeguard, now is the time to take the first step. Give them a jump start on securing a future job as a lifeguard by completeing the Red Cross Guard Start: Lifeguarding Tomorrow program! They will learn what it takes to be a great lifeguard, and will be introduced to swim lesson instruction.
