Welcome to the fall issue of Annapolis Home Magazine. We bring you a magazine full of surprises, including a look at the stunning architecture of, yes, a dog’s house—that is, a house for six dogs and a historic boat. We love knowing about how an architect sensitive to the vernacular forms of late 19th and early 20th century Eastern Shore designed a diverse set of structures for the tidewater property of a homeowner who is devoted to his show dogs. Our present connects with our past. This is also the case of a rambling homestead on the Shore, whose owner grew up on a farm in Kentucky. With its magnificent stretches of arable land and open water, Maryland’s Eastern Shore suited his purposes perfectly: to continue good traditions and raise a family of five boys with his wife, who loves farming, chickens, and gardening just as much as he does. These homes reveal the special nature of our Eastern and Western shores: how charming cities on both sides of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge give way to raw country, wildlife, and individuals pursuing their passions. Read on to learn how Annapolis professionals were involved in the recent redesign of the White House Rose Garden and visit a tranquil sky-blue home in Wardour, one of Annapolis’ oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods. Speaking of neighborhoods, we introduce a new section where our reporter roams the individual neighborhoods of Annapolis, reporting on their history and daily lifestyle. Enjoy!

Robert Haywood has a Ph.D. in art and architecture history from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His book, Allan Kaprow and Claes Oldenburg: Art, Happenings and Cultural Politics, is out now from Yale University Press, London. It is available from Yale.

Washington, D.C. is one of my favorite cities in the U.S. It has great restaurants, museums, bookstores, universities, performances, and so much more. Although some museums are open with restrictions, you don’t have to go into public buildings to have a stimulating day. The National Gallery of Art’s outdoor sculpture garden is definitely worth visiting. I have walked through it many times and will continue to go again when I am in the city. An excellent modern and contemporary collection, it includes the work of Claes Oldenburg, an artist I spent many years studying and getting to know. Oldenburg is fascinated by ordinary “inventions” like the clothespin or the eraser—things that we use every day, but whose forms we may not appreciate. By enlarging common objects and always altering them in some fashion, he asks us to take notice of the rich complexity of the simplest of things. Go to nga.gov to learn more. After you tour the National Gallery sculpture garden, walk across the Mall and visit the Hirshhorn Museum’s outdoor sculpture garden. On display are equally significant sculptures. Visit hirshhorn.si.edu. If you like making art, consider taking a virtual class at Artfarm Studios. This Annapolis-based organization is a great resource for the community. Visit artfarmannapolis.com.

We welcome Edgar Herrera to Annapolis. He is the new Executive Director of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. This is a demanding but extremely important position in Annapolis, and we all offer him our congratulations and support. Adjusting to the times, the Symphony is planning a series of virtual concerts. PURPLE CHE

ANNAPOLIS HOME

By Elizabeth Heubeck | Photography by David Burroughs

ERRY HOUSE

Architect and landscape architect collaborated very early on to conceive a home and grounds that radiate peace and tranquility. By the time the home was finished, the gardens were mature.

Purple Cherry convinced the manufacturer New Cedar Shingles to make one last run of its discontinued sky blue paint color: Open-Air #6235.

“I think we get to a place where life has been so complicated, and we don’t want any madness anymore…it plays into the color tones.” Catherine Purple Cherry

F

ronted by a wide curvy driveway, this Annapolis house sits back far enough from the road that you could almost drive past and not even notice it. Almost. Its curbside appeal practically forces you to brake. There’s the calming blue color of this modern, coastalstyle cottage. Aptly named Open Air, it’s reminiscent of a pale blue sky on a perfect summer day—a fitting backdrop for the home’s exterior tidewater touches, from plantation shutters to decorative ovalshaped windows resembling portholes. The color complements the landscape architecture that delicately frames the home: shrubbery in shades of green, golden wavy ornamental grasses, and playful drifts of color that just might cause an observer’s blood pressure to plummet. The overall effect is enchanting. It’s all part of a master plan, right down to the black-eyed susans, little allium, and plumed grasses that dot the grounds like small archipelagoes. The project is also an example of how architecture and landscape architecture converge successfully. Stephen Makrinos of Campion Hruby Landscape Architecture made deliberate planting choices that aim for an aura of tranquility, vitality, and relaxation. Catherine Purple Cherry of Purple Cherry Architects conceived a structure that encourages a sense of peace, where inhabitants may age in place. It starts with the exterior where durability and whimsy co-mingle. The home’s shingle siding exudes the warm, textured appearance of wood. It’s actually made of synthetic shingles that look like real cedar but are built to stand up to the outdoor elements. “Being on the water’s edge, we’re really conscious of exposure to wind, rain, and salt. We built the house to stand the test of time, says Chris Neumann, vice president of Bayview Builders.

Vol. 11, No. 4 2020 35

Only a wall of windows divide inside and outside.

ANNAPOLIS HOME

The kitchen, with built-in appliances, flows into the main living area; custom mill work and cabinetry throughout add depth and character.

Then there’s the exterior color. Purple Cherry suggested the sky blue hue. To her surprise, the homeowner embraced the recommendation. “Ninety-nine percent of my other clients would have said no,” Purple Cherry observes. They would feel a house of this caliber required a level of subdued sophistication found only in hues of gray or tan. “She just let us go,” says Purple Cherry, whose client left behind a large and formal home in Bethesda and a hectic corporate job and lifestyle. Her dream was to retreat to a simpler lifestyle that would take her and her husband into their later years. (Unfortunately, he recently passed.) “I think we get to a place where life has been so complicated, and we don’t want any madness anymore. It plays into the color tones,” says Purple Cherry. It also explains why she took great pains to secure that calming, coastal blue for the home’s exterior. Undeterred when she learned the color had been discontinued, Purple Cherry convinced the manufacturer to make one last run of it. The soothing color scheme continues throughout the home’s interior, while specialized touches lend distinctive appeal. An accent wall in the master bedroom provides a subtle yet standout feature: textured wallpaper by Thibaut. In the “hers” master bathroom, clean white walls complement sophisticated tiling on the wall behind the tub, “Meridian Veil Blend” from Chesapeake Tile. In the predominantly white kitchen, the backsplash—

Moscow Petite Cold Stone Mosaic, also from Chesapeake Tile— is fanciful yet understated.

A floor plan for easy living Aging in place was on the client’s mind when she shared her vision of a new home with Purple Cherry, whose design delivered. There are no steep steps leading up to the home’s front porch. The airy foyer takes your gaze directly through to the back of the home, with a panoramic view of the sparkling Severn River. The main level’s open floor plan showcases a breezy kitchen that flows into a living room whose vaulted ceiling, topped by a cupola, lets in natural light, as do numerous wide windows. The main living space is bookended by the master bedroom immediately to the right—no long hallways to navigate—plus his and her bathrooms. Just left of the kitchen, a roomy office with built-in bookshelves opens to a cozy back porch, complete with fireplace and coastalcasual furniture. Given its amenities, appealing detail (think built-ins and intricate millwork), it’s easy to imagine never leaving the main level. But you’d miss out on the ground floor that offers its own allure, including a roomy bar and sitting area much brighter, bigger, and all-around more appealing than the average basement. Plus, there’s plenty of room for guests down here. During the pandemic, the owner hosted her niece for several weeks. Private accommodations included her own bedroom, office, and bathroom. The owners’ parents live in a suite on the bottom floor. They can simply walk out the ground-level doors onto the pool deck. Vol. 11, No. 4 2020 37

38

ANNAPOLIS HOME

A coastal meadow Instead of a well-manicured lawn, the front of the home is more like a “coastal meadow” explains Kevin Campion. As one approaches the front door, plumed grasses sway in the breeze, while sunlight flickers across flower beds of gold, blue, emerald, and white. A freestanding hedge of “little lime” hydrangea in full bloom adds structure and a lushness seldom experienced in the suburban garden. As fall approaches, the cone-shaped goblets will dry on their stems and fade to a pinkish beige, offering winter interest, especially when coated with frost and snow.

A stepping-stone walkway flanked by native flowers leads to a generously-sized old-fashioned wooden swing for two. As one strolls along, a hum fills the air, and you must dodge butterflies. Goldfinch dart by, and bees dive deep into blossoms. Clearly, it is not just a garden you pass through; the bench encourages pausing to feast visually upon rich layers of flora-topped berms that spill over edges and into gullies.

Vol. 11, No. 4 2020 39

The pool is the only structure original to the property; it has been updated by Campion Hruby Landscape Architects with stone pavings and meadow-inspired native grasses. At the back of the house, one has more opportunities to gaze lazily over the waterfront. The pool deck is an obvious choice. So too are the lounge chairs and seating around the fire pit—all comfortably ensconced in the terraced landscaped hillside that eventually leads to the water’s edge. Each option affords unobstructed views of the river and the wildlife and people who play in and around it. “I roll out of bed, get the paper, and sit by the pool with my coffee,” says the owner. “I never get tired of looking at the view.” This home’s rolling gardens nourish creatures of all kinds. The river does the same on visible and invisible levels. Between the free-flowing water and the natural gardens, life is always happening. A DOG’S HOUSE, STORY OF A

Tidewater Kennel BY KYMBERLY TAYLOR PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALAN RUSS AND ANICE HOACHLANDER

The proverbial idiom “in the dog house” takes on a brand new meaning when considering this Tidewater-inspired barn-like kennel designed by architect Greg Wiedemann. The building has an unusual function: to display the owner’s handmade boat and to house six purebred Chesapeake Bay retrievers and boucherons. Crowning the cupola is a custom-made Chesapeake Bay retriever weathervane. The owner is serious about his dogs; one of his boucherons won Best in Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Vol. 11, No. 4 2020 45

The modern exposed beams recall the ceiling of a traditional barn. The interior is sleek, lined with Douglas fir. The floors are polished concrete.

ANNAPOLIS HOME

A Dutch door leads to an outside run. The height of the water bowl is strategic, to discourage spills.

The kennel is a graceful addition to other service buildings Wiedemann has designed on this 100-acre waterfront farm on the Eastern Shore—a series which includes a boathouse and a chicken coop. “I wanted to create a consistent architectural language on the outside of these buildings,” says Wiedemann, pointing out the standing seam metal roof, painted siding, and dark blue and white palette. The barn is composed of simple forms and durable materials, inspired by the traditional 19th and early 20th-century architecture of the Eastern Shore farm, he explains. “There is a crispness to it… there is no mistaking that it is an agriculture-related building,” he says. The pitched “catslide” roof, composed of terne-coated stainless steel, needs no maintenance and weathers to a natural gray. Readily identified by its dramatic sweep extending beyond the eaves, the catslide roof was introduced by British builders emigrating to early America.

Vol. 11, No. 4 2020 47

The kennel-barn’s design had to include a display area for the owner's antique boat.

The kennel’s main area houses the dogs. Six stalls with polished concrete floors and Dutch doors lead to runs and an enclosure for exercise. The adjoining generous space, lined with Douglas Fir, has a loft overlooking the break room for staff. There is a kitchen used to prepare the dog’s food and an outdoor shower to wash them down. The gleaming vessel, a replica from an earlier era, is displayed in its own bay, adding to the timeless atmosphere. Skylights bring natural light into the interior, surely contributing to the dogs’ general sense of well-being. To be ‘in the dog house’ is to be lucky, indeed, worth losing an argument or two. CHESAPEAKE HOMES

• S N O W : Believe it or not, snow is heavy! Homes and additions must be designed to eliminate sagging, cracking and collapsing under even minor amounts of snow.

How Does Extreme Weather Effect My Construction Decisions? Chesapeake homes must withstand every type of weather including heavy snowfall, heat waves, hurricanes, and Nor’easters. Whether you are remodeling, building an addition, or starting new construction, weatherresistant products and an engineering approach can help your house withstand Maryland’s worst weather.

• S A L T WAT E R : Brackish Baywater is extremely corrosive. Specially treated flood resistant materials can lower the chances of water damage occurring. I suggest stainless steel fasteners for siding and roofing. Don’t forget crawlspaces. Even vented crawlspaces can trap water. Ask your contractor if encapsulation is advisable.

• W I N D : Wind is one of nature’s most destructive forces. Many window and door products are made to withstand gusts up to 150 MPH. Consider storm shutters and reinforced garage doors as well. • T E M P E R AT U R E S W I N G S : Rapid temperature changes effect everything from foundations to roofs. Your builder/remodeler can suggest materials made to withstand high heat, humidity and severe cold. This is especially important for roofs.

NEIGHBORHOOD VISIT

ROUND BAY BY CHRISTINE FILLAT

64

ANNAPOLIS HOME

“If I want to be social, all I have to do is go into my front yard.” Long-time Round Bay Resident Round Bay is a tight-knit community of some 230 homes on the Severn River, charming in its relaxed town feel. No two homes are alike. Houses run the gamut from super modern designs to shingled summer cottages from the ’20s. Roads wind throughout the hilly neighborhood of mature trees and shady gardens down to the Severn River, where three beaches are tended by the community association. Finding the house of your dreams can be no easy task. Not only do families tend to keep homes for generations, but the houses are often set relatively close to each other. This neighborhood is for the homeowner who doesn’t mind living in close proximity to their neighbors. For someone who is looking for acreage, this is not the place. What Round Bay offers instead is collective conviviality. Boating is a major activity. The swim team races neighboring communities in the river. There are community-organized potluck meals, happy hours, a kid’s camp, a regatta with a catered awards dinner, holiday activities, Wednesday night sailboat races, and a book club with some 20 members. Round Bay was established in the late 1880s when a railroad spur from the Baltimore and Annapolis Railroad was built to access a pleasure beach with a hotel and dance pavilion.

Later, summer homes were built on the land owned by the Round Bay Corporation, leading to the present community. History buffs may search for remnants of a Union soldier lookout on Mount Misery or perhaps for some artifacts from the native American people who lived here long ago. One resident has lived in Round Bay for forty-some years. She loves living here because the neighborhood is as sociable as she wants it to be. “If I want to be social, all I have to do is go into my front yard,” she says. “There is always someone passing by.” And if she needs time to herself, her privacy is respected. She appreciates the community gatherings, the communal dinners, and the fact that neighbors offer assistance in times of need. In one instance, after a particularly harsh storm, a group of young men armed with chainsaws drove their jeep around the community looking for folks who needed tree removal. AH As of the writing of this story, homes for sale in Round Bay range from over $500,000 to over $2 million. Home pictured: 11 Riverview Road, Severna Park. Offered at $2,195,000. Sixty Chickens & Five Boys,

H O M E S T onEtheAShoreD By Jeanne Blackburn | Interior Photography by David Burroughs | Exterior Photography by Annapolis Home Magazine When Tracy and Andy Hightower were looking for a new home in the Annapolis area, they knew just what they wanted. Eager to enjoy all that the Annapolis area had to offer, they also hoped to find a place on the water with enough space for their five young boys to spread out and grow up close to nature. “We looked for three years to find just the right place that met our vision for how and where we wanted to raise our family,” says Tracy. Tracy grew up on a farm in Kentucky; they hoped to teach their boys the ways of the land and to share its special rhythms and rewards. What they found was on the Shore and when they bought the place in 2012 it was a spacious, six-year-old home with 900 feet of shoreline, a pool, two ponds, and 22 acres of land to accommodate a garden, orchards, chickens, honeybees, and the two dogs that are now part of their lives. But nothing is perfect.

68

ANNAPOLIS HOME

As ‘adjustments’ were made to the house those first few years, the list of things to be done kept growing with the boys. In 2017, enter Lisa Bagbey Tullai, interior designer of Annapolis Interiors. “I found her on the internet, looked at her work, and realized that she and I were on the same page,” Tracy says. According to Lisa, “We set up a date and time for me to meet her and visit the home. During that first in-person meeting, I discovered there was so much more behind Tracy’s description of her family, home, lifestyle, and interior needs. That led to a three-year-long journey of working together to transform many areas of their home.” Tracy likes to cook and spends a lot of time in the kitchen. Unfortunately, the kitchen needed immediate attention: in fact, it required a total renovation. The kitchen was positioned at the intersection of two halls that created a crossroads that led from one side of the house to the other. Really inefficient, they both decided. “For four or five months we had no kitchen, and that

A dine-in breakfast nook overlooks the marsh, lawn, gardens, and beehives. The peaceful scene is no accident; each family member has daily chores.

was during Thanksgiving and Christmas,” says Tracy. “We cooked on a hot plate in the small kitchen in the basement.” In addition, the laundry room was woefully small and cluttered with coats and shoes: very inadequate for a family of seven. Tullai discovered that decoratively, Tracy wanted a more cohesive, room-to-room aesthetic for her home’s interior. Given all the children and the dogs, the furnishings they had were not performing well. In addition, the new master suite, added before Lisa started working with them, featured a wall of windows that needed some serious light control. Tullai proposed exploring the possibility of physically expanding their home and transforming it, which meant going beyond surface finishes. “I recommended that they consider doing an interior renovation with two additions: a great room off the back of the house to become the dining/sunroom adjacent to a renovated kitchen, and larger mud and laundry room off the front to include a pantry.” Both of the additions would provide more square footage and improve the exterior aesthetic as well. “We also discussed adding a covered portico off the front of the house as an invitation to enter while being shielded from the weather,” she said.

Over 20 eggs ranging in color were gathered during the photoshoot. The chickens roam freely but operate under a rigid hierarchy or “pecking order.” New chicks are not readily welcomed. Violence erupts when the lead hen is challenged.

To address the decorative issue in the most highly frequented rooms of the house, Lisa and Tracy selected well-constructed furnishings and performance fabrics. In the master suite, motorized shutters, light-filtering shades, and blackout window treatments were installed for adjustable light control.

The coop now has netting on all sides, a huge run, nesting boxes, and a special section for chicks and juveniles to mature until they’re ready to join the pecking order. The boys gather approximately 250 eggs a week. An ongoing experiment, the beehives literally hum with activity as the precious liquid is produced and harvested. Orchards and gardens are filled with flowers and vegetables.

This bee hive hides a complex miniature society. After returning to the hive, the worker bee transfers the nectar from her tongue to another worker's tongue, where the liquid from the nectar evaporates and becomes honey. By placing the dining area in the addition off the back of the house, they were able to eliminate the traffic flow through the kitchen. Now that the large pantry, laundry room, mudroom, and dog feeding station are housed in the addition at the front of the house, the congestion and intrusion in the main kitchen area have been greatly reduced. One hall bathroom and the powder room on the main level have also been renovated. Current projects include two additional bathrooms, a hobby room (filled with all manner of fishing gear), and some basement areas. As the boys have grown, this house has grown with them. It now sprawls across the horizon, balanced on either side by its two additions. It has become a proper homestead, where the boys take the primary responsibility for the farm animals and plenty of 72

Commercial farming is an embattled industry; however, this bustling homestead on the Shore occupies a simpler sphere. The family farm—at least the mini-farm—still retains its ability to encourage responsibility, respect for each other, and a love of the land—and thrives only thirty minutes or so from Annapolis. Allium

Discover Little

Drought Tolerant, Heat-Loving, & Wonderful! BY KYMBERLY TAYLOR

I had the pleasure of discovering “little allium” while touring a coastal meadow-style front yard in Wardour, designed by Stephen Makrinos of Campion Hruby Landscape Architects. A coastal meadow, explains Kevin Campion, is a front yard that, in contrast to a manicured lawn, is swept by flowing grasses, free-standing hedges, and native flowers planted in drifts of colors: blues, emeralds, purples, reds, browns, blacks, and caramels. The plantings provide nourishment and shelter to wildlife and pollinators, and structure to the landscape. As they develop, peak, and go to seed, each phase is beautiful and instructive. Their blossoms record river winds and rains; later, their long-stemmed skeletons capture frost and snow, giving form to these seasonal energies and bringing them down into the garden. As in a watercolor painting, one color never quite stands out. Conversely, everything becomes fascinating upon individual inspection. The hibiscus blossoms billow out like giant scarlet blouses while the minute seed heads of coneflowers become pointed silhouettes upon the berm. Lilies drop their petals singly and eloquently. Phlox takes its time while dahlia blooms are disheveled, ending roughly in a rush of foliage. As fall and winter progress, decay takes on a patina; there is no such thing as the color black. There is a burnished farewell in the

death-shades of the dying sunflower, seeds offered to birds and the earth. Even their bare giant heads, rimmed with brown, become a resting place for small creatures of the air. In the foreground, the massive cone-shaped blossoms of the lime hydrangea become cups that have runneth over, fading to sun-worn pastels. Yet, almost everywhere I looked in this garden, clusters of “little allium” shone forth in compact glory. There was nothing even gracefully tired about them. They were downright perky, with purple flowers that seemed to defy the heat. This is a miniature but much longer-lasting version of the giant alliums that rise majestically in late spring. Little alliums bloom from spring to fall and thrive even in August when many Marylanders retreat from the heat and their tangled, leggy gardens. How does one find little allium? I asked Kevin Campion as he gave me a tour of this garden while Stephen Makrinos was on paternity leave. When I commented that I had not seen this perennial in any local nursery, he suggested that I look for it in the spring. So next year, that is exactly what I plan to do. Enjoy your garden, whether tending to your plants or just relaxing and taking in their personalities. AH

Little allium or Millenium may last longer in your garden because deer do not like it.

The proper shoe to complement “little allium” is this slip-on by Gucci. I don’t know how long it would last in the garden; birds may go crazy and use it for nesting material. However, it is certainly the perfect shoe to wear on the way to the garden!

TRINACRIA:

A LIVING MUSEUM TO ITALIAN FOOD STORY & PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHRISTINE FILLAT

Trinacria Italian Foods is an Italian grocery store like no other. Carefully tended by Vince Fava, a third-generation owner, this place is like a secret. On the west side of Baltimore, the steady south-to-north flow of traffic on Paca Street leaves little else to prompt you to stop and linger. Once you find this little gem, it may take you a minute to find a place to park your car. To walk through the front door, though, is a step that takes you back in time—to a place where the pace slows down a few notches. Trinacria is a sensory delight. The first sense to be activated is the sense of smell. Trinacria carries with it the perfume of 100 years of cheeses, bread, pasta, and olives. One hundred years ago, Fava’s grandfather immigrated to Baltimore from Sicily and bought a bread bakery here, in this very spot. After disastrous run-ins with rival bread makers, Fava’s grandfather turned his business to pasta and sauce making. “Everybody loves the way it smells,” says Fava. “All that smell is ingrained in the wood.” Visually, there is a lot to take in. The space isn’t all that large, and from floor to ceiling, Fava has stocked it with everything Italian. Everywhere you look, you see different kinds of pasta, gallons of olive oil, cookies, and freezers full of lasagna and ravioli. Bottles of wine are priced anywhere from $5.00 to $30.00 a bottle. A deli counter carries imported meats, and sandwiches are made to order. Sausage is made by hand here, with just five ingredients. “Plain, simple, no preservatives, no nothing in it,” says Fava. “That’s the motto that we follow. Plain, simple, basic ingredients.”

ANNAPOLIS HOME

So why, you may wonder, is Trinacria here, in this innocuous street in the city? Once upon a time, this area thrived as one of Baltimore’s centers of Italian society—until the ’50s when the Italians moved to the suburbs. But the Favas stayed put. Trinacria is a living museum to a bygone era where shops were small, and the owner took care of you. It’s valuable to have a place like this to go to today and to have the experience of human interaction. “We’ve been there for a long time,” says Fava. “Hopefully, we will be there for another long time.” AH Christine Fillat lives on the Magothy River and is an aficionado of Chesapeake Bay cooking and living. FILLAT PASTA WITH EGGPLANT SAUCE Here is a recipe inspired by the ingredients found at Trinacria Foods and created by Peter Fillat, an architect who has cooked professionally in Florence, Italy. Drawing on the simple yet purest ingredients he learned to combine with aplomb in the Florence kitchen, he often whips up sublime Tuscany-inspired dishes for lucky friends in minutes. Flavorful and hearty, the Fillat Pasta is great served with a nice Chianti and crusty bread. INGREDIENTS: 1 medium eggplant, cubed 1 shallot, minced 1/2 onion, chopped 1/2 jalapeño pepper, chopped

1 28 oz. can San Marzano tomatoes Oregano Thyme Box of rigatoni, or your favorite pasta

INSTRUCTIONS: In a good-sized cast iron skillet, brown the eggplant in a generous amount of olive oil. | Add the shallot, onion, and jalapeño. Sauté for 10-15 minutes. | Pulse the tomatoes in a food processor until the tomatoes are broken down. | Add the tomatoes to the skillet. Bring the ingredients to a simmer, then lower the heat and let cook, covered, until the eggplants are tender. | Add fresh oregano and thyme. | Season with salt and pepper to taste. | Follow the cooking directions for the pasta. When al dente, drain and add to the sauce in the skillet. | Serve with best-quality grated parmesan. Buon appetito!
