Before You Get Started This booklet will help you get setup and ready to drive with CloudMade’s Evaluation App. In many cases setup takes less than 30 minutes and is trouble free. However, it is always possible that specific cars, specific phones and the occasional defective dongle cause problems during the setup process. Setting up Your Evaluation App

Setup the Evaluation App
The Evaluation App is available as a private beta inside the Google Play Store. To download the Evaluation App:

Open your corporate or work email app on your Android phone.

Find the email called “Join CloudMade’s Evaluation Fleet”, sent by CloudMade. You may need to check Spam folders and filters to find this message.

Inside the message look for the email address labeled ”Your registered Google email address is”. Make sure that you are logged into the Google Play store using this email address.

Inside the message tap the link to the Google Play store. Then tap “Become a Tester” and then “Download on Google Play”. This will load the Evaluation App inside the Google Play store. Inside Google Play click on “Install”. The Evaluation App will now download and install, just as a normal Android app would.

To get started, launch the Evaluation App and create an account using your work email address (not your personal address) and a password of your choice. On screen instructions will guide you through the setup process.

Connecting to Your Vehicle
Now take the box with the Evaluation Kit to your car and proceed with the instructions in this booklet and the Evaluation App to complete the setup
STEP 2a: Mount and Charge Your Phone The magnetic phone holder included in the Evaluation Pack clips onto your car’s air vents and provides a safe, convenient place to mount your phone. The pouch in your Evaluation Kit contains all necessary components to make your phone work with the supplied holder. Please refer to the holder leaflet in the pouch to apply mounting plates to your phone or its case. Data collection process will your phone charge whilst driving, so we recommend that you keep your phone connected to the USB charger when you are in the car. If you have any problems mounting the magnetic phone holder, your Test Fleet Manager can help find alternative solutions.
STEP 2b: Install the OBD2 Dongle in the Vehicle Final step of the setup is connecting the Evaluation App with the OBD2 dongle. Please follow the on-screen instructions in the application to plug in your dongle and connect to it. Should you have any problems during the initial setup, please refer to the Troubleshooting Guide on Page 07 or contact your Test Fleet Manager for assistance.

Start Test Driving
You are all set to start test driving the Evaluation App! To collect data and build intelligence, the OBD2 dongle must be connected to the phone from the moment you start your drive. The Bluetooth connection process that we rely on can be slow to connect and from time to time the connection may be completely lost. To help address this, get into the habit of following these three steps before each drive:
01 Mount Your phone to the magnetic phone holder
02 Check That the OBD2 connection icon has turned from grey to green
03 Drive As you normally would do, remembering to evaluate every drive.
If you have followed the steps above and the OBD2 connection icon in the Evaluation App is still grey, please see the Troubleshooting Guide on the next page.

Troubleshooting Guide
The most common problem experienced by test fleet drivers is with the connection between the OBD2 dongle and the Evaluation App. If the OBD2 connection icon does not turn from grey to green within 30 seconds of turning on your ignition, tap on the OBD2 connection icon to trigger a connection attempt. If after tapping the OBD2 connection icon it is still grey, follow these steps to reset Bluetooth pairing with the OBD2 dongle:

On your CloudMade phone, open “Settings”, select ”Bluetooth” and check Bluetooth is activated.

Find “OBDLink LX” in the list of paired devices.

Tap on the “Settings” button next to OBDLink LX and then select “Forget”.

Turn the car engine off and unplug the OBD2 dongle.

Plug in the OBD2 dongle again and start your car’s engine.

Press on the small button on the OBD2 dongle until a blue light starts to flash.

Go back to the phone’s Bluetooth settings and pull down to refresh the list of ”Available devices” nearby.

Find”OBDLink LX” in the list and complete pairing.

Open the Evaluation App and go to the menu (:) found in the top right corner and select “Settings”.

Under ”OBD2 connection” tap on ”Status”.

Choose “OBDLink LX” from the list of paired devices. You should now see “Status: connecting...” change to “Status: ready to drive” when the connection is successfully established.

Use the phone’s “Back” button (at the bottom right of the phone next to the home button) to go back to the map screen of the Evaluation App.

Check that the OBD2 connection icon has changed from grey to green.
