Rising sea levels is a huge concern of coastal cities across the world. Since 1880, Boston’s sea level has risen 6.5 inches, and is set to become only more dramatic over the next 100 years. The map to the left shows Boston in 2100, even after dramatic carbon cutbacks. Coastal cities’ only chance for survival is to move inland, or build above the water. Not just on the building scale, but also on the infrastructural scale. By allowing the infrastructure to grow naturally, we can continuously meet demand, rather than forcing an eventual reality.
