Dear Rye Brook Resident: BACK TO SCHOOL
As the new school year is upon us, a new recreation season is as well. I hope this booklet finds you well and that your summer has recharged your recreation batteries.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to experience recreation’s wide-range of RECREATION activities for all ages. Popular recreation programs include floor hockey, teen center, ice skating, bowling, men’s basketball and many other recreational activities to fit into your fall schedule. Rye Brook Recreation is offering an airplane building class, a hand sewing class for boys and girls and also a golf instruction program, which are all new to our fall programming. Coming in December is a Holiday Tree Lighting event to commence the holiday season. The Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th from 10am - 2pm at Crawford Mansion. There will be activities for all ages including a bounce house, spooky storytelling, hayrides through the park, apple pie contests, a cake walk, donuts on a string, pumpkin carving and decorating as well as face painting. There will be plenty of fun to go around. Nominal fees for activities and food items. In memory of Paula Bertolacci, the sixth annual “Paula’s Pals” Coat Drive will take place from September 25th to December 11th to collect clean reusable coats for the needy. These coats will be distributed to the Carver Center and Holy Rosary Church where they will be provided to our local needy neighbors. Paula’s goal before passing in January, four years ago, was to donate 150 coats to the needy. We hope to meet this goal again this year. Collection boxes will be located at the Rye Brook Recreation Department, Anthony J. Posillipo Center, Port Chester Middle School, Park Avenue School and at Corpus Christi Church. The playground at Pine Ridge Park is now completed. Hopefully everyone has had a chance to try it out. The recreation department will be looking to do a new playground at Garibaldi Park in the Spring of 2016. The basketball courts at Pine Ridge Park will be repaved during the month of September and be ready for use by October. Online registration will begin on Monday, September 9th at 9:30pm. I look forward to seeing you participate in our programs, and hope Rye Brook Recreation is meeting your recreational needs. Robert Bertolacci Parks & Recreation Superintendent
