ONLINE REGISTRATION WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2013 @ 9:30 PM

Dear Rye Brook Residents: Rye Brook Recreation is committed to providing quality recreation programs. In the winter months, our recreation programs are moved inside the schools, at BelleFair, and the Anthony J. Posillipo Community Center to get our participants out of the frigid temperatures. The Recreation Department offers Basketball (youth and adult), Bowling, Yoga, Total Body Workout, Piano, and many other activities and if you are feeling cooped up at home, come out and cheer the participants. On line registration for winter activities will begin Wednesday, December 18th at 9:30pm. For all outside contractor program registration, you may register on-line and mail your payment to the recreation office. If your payment is not received within 7 days, your registration will be cancelled and we will accept the next wait-listed family. If you do not have access to a computer, come into the office and one of our recreation staff will guide you through the process. Your data entry will allow us to get the recreation information to your household in a more efficient and timely manner. To register for recreation programs, simply go to the Village’s website at www.ryebrook.org, scroll down the home page and you will see a section that will prompt you to register for programs. This link will bring you to Community Pass to register. The second annual Spring Carnival will take place on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 900 King Street behind Village Hall. There will be rides, games, food and vendors. The Village is selling Vendor Space and Food Vendor space for the Carnival. For additional information, contact the Recreation Department at 939-7054. The Village of Rye Brook is conducting a “Coats for the Needy” program through Paula’s Pals in memory of long time staff member Paula Bertolacci until December 20th. These coats will be distributed to needy residents in the area to keep them warm throughout the season. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Council wishes to remind the community that: (1) their meetings are open to the public; and (2) the Minutes of their meetings also are available to the public. Members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings and express their viewpoints towards the betterment of the community’s recreation programs. Increased community participation will serve to avoid confusion and misunderstandings inherent in relating statements concerning our meetings without the full benefit of the context in which such statements were made. We hope Rye Brook Recreation is meeting your recreational needs. I join our staff in wishing you and your family a healthy and rewarding 2014 New Year and look forward to seeing you at some of our many recreational activities. Happy Holidays Robert Bertolacci Parks and Recreation Superintendent

RYE BROOK PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT CODE OF CONDUCT The Rye Brook Recreation Department (“Department”) wishes to create rules of conduct that coaches, parents/guardians of youth participants and all spectators shall observe so as to allow our children to mature physically, emotionally and socially and create a positive experience for our children while participating in the Rye Brook Recreation sports programs. A coach/parent/guardian of a player participating in a Department program shall at all times act in the best interests of the children and it is understood that the best interests of the child translates into the best interests of the game and the best interests of the Department. The coach/parent/guardian needs to help players learn and work to improve skills and to ensure that the player’s athletic experience is one of learning, fun and enjoyment. The job of coaching and the job’s success does not depend upon winning. A coach/parent/guardian should always exhibit patience with players, umpires and other parents and coaches. Players should never be pushed beyond limits with regards to practice or in game participation. A coach/parent/guardian should understand that children have many daily pressures and youth sports should not be one of those pressures. The Department recognizes the crucial role that the coach/parent/guardian plays in molding the athletic experience of the child. Accordingly, the coach/parent/guardian should always be demonstrating good sportsmanship and setting the example for all parents and all players by allowing the children to be the center of attention during games and practices. These principles serve as the overriding guideline coaches/parents/guardians participating or otherwise involved in a Department program shall observe and abide by within the following rules of conduct.
