To keep expanding our vision and provide the Ryerson community with a thoughtful, engaging publication, we are hiring a new editorinchief for the 2016/17 school year. Entirely designed, written, and produced by Ryerson students, Ryerson Folio is looking for a hardworking leader dedicated to keeping the publication a vital part of campus. To be considered for the editorinchief position, here are the requirements: ● You must be in your third year of studies. ● A journalism major is preferred, but not required. ● The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of journalism ethics. ● WordPress experience is an asset. ● The ideal candidate is organized, responsible, a team worker, and an approachable leader. ● The ideal candidate has some availability in their schedule to maintain Folio’s Gmail account in order to respond to editors, writers, and professional inquiries. Responsibilities include: ● Recruit and work with a team of editors, writers, photographers, illustrators, and podcast crew.
● Work with the marketing and finance executives to coordinate promotion of the magazine. ● Edit stories on a weekly basis and upload copy and images to WordPress. ● Schedule and assign deadlines for pitches and stories. ● Oversee the production of the next print issue. Please attach your resume and 23 samples of your work, ideally journalistic . The examples do not have to be published, but should be relevant to the position and demonstrate your skillset. Additionally, please write a letter explaining why you’re the ideal candidate — feel free to be creative!
