Active Games This programme incorporates all the old favourites and some new games too. Quoits, indoor bowls, balloon tennis and boccia are all popular active games you will expect to see in the programme.

Triple A

(Ageless, Active, Aware) Triple A is our exercise programme that has been designed specifically for our residents. There is a programme for each level of care with the main aims being, physical mobility, functional exercises, muscle strengthening and cognitive challenge. There is also a strong focus on falls prevention in all Triple A classes. Those who are less able to participate still derive positive benefits from the enjoyable music, stimulation and social atmosphere.

Happy Hour A long-standing and popular tradition – Happy Hour is a fun, social hour where residents can enjoy refreshments and each other’s company. Happy Hour may include an entertainer to perform – or in some cases, the residents prefer to be able to talk amongst themselves and the entertainer is scheduled in another spot on the calendar.

Out and About Out and About provides an outing either within the village setting or around the wider community. Out and About within the village may encompass a high tea in the garden, a walk to the bowling green or a visit to the village movie theatre. Out and About outside of the village could be a scenic drive, a picnic in a park or visiting a local café. The main aim of the Out and About programme is to tailor outings that maximise resident comfort and enjoyment, and to provide a change of scenery.

Engage is for Everyone For those who are not keen on joining in a social group activity we endeavour to ensure there are still activities to do. Library book trolley, a pet visit, music or a quick chat are all part of our “Engage is for everyone” programme. This programme is very individualised and our activities coordinators strive to ensure that all residents have opportunities to continue to enjoy their interests.

Musical Moments

Ryman Engage is our unique activities and lifestyle programme that has been developed with all Ryman residents in mind. It is designed to offer a balanced and varied programme of activities to ensure we can cater for all our residents’ interests and needs. The aim of Engage is participation, engagement, stimulation and fun. Our objective is to provide ‘something for everyone’. Below is a brief description on what our Engage signature programmes may encompass.

News and Views Informs our residents about current events and local news. It is designed to be an interactive session where residents can also share their views, discuss and debate ‘hot topics’ of interest.

Memory Lane An opportunity to reminisce and share our stories. Memory Lane is about affirming who we are, where we have been, and provides a chance to relive happy times. It is also a great activity for allowing people to get to know one another. There is a lot of evidence to support how important reminiscence is for older people.

Sensational Senses All activities have a sensory component to them but Sensational Senses is a specific programme that provides a more complete sensory experience. It may include a hand and nail pamper session, foot spas, aromatherapy, baking, gardening or be themed around a topic such as the beach.

Everyone enjoys music and Musical Moments is designed to be interactive and fun. It could be a good old fashioned sing-along, playing to the beat of a song with instruments, or listening to and discussing various pieces of music. Musical bingo and ‘guess the song’ are also popular activities in our Musical Moments programme.

Men’s Club The focus of our Men’s Club is to provide opportunities for our men to interact, socialise together and share common interests. Men’s Club may involve working together on a craft project, playing a game of pool or enjoying a beer tasting session. The aim is to get our blokes together – away from the ladies to enjoy each other’s company and make them feel special.

Village Friends ‘Residents helping residents’ is about bringing our village communities together and creating a unique sense of family and friendship. A Village Friend may help call the housie numbers in our hospital, read to someone who cannot read themselves, or play the piano for a sing-along. Village Friends enjoy doing something meaningful and purposeful to help others, and those on the receiving end welcome and appreciate having new ‘friends’ come to visit.

Make and Create Art and craft encourages creativity and a sense of worth and purpose. The art of creating something will challenge us both mentally and physically. There is plenty of research to suggest that as we get older our creative side actually increases and people derive more enjoyment and satisfaction from participating in artistic activities. Make and Create can involve art classes, knitting for a good cause, scrapbooking, collage, or making decorations for one of our many themed events.

Mind Benders Mind Benders is about providing intellectual stimulation for everyone. Our residents love to participate in word games, quizzes, board games and anything that challenges the brain.
