IBIZA RETREATS, IBIZA BEST FOR... YOGA ADDICTS
Don't let your preconceptions of Ibiza stop you visiting this beautiful island - here you swap raving for reiki and the only time you'll share air space with clubbers is on the flight. With one of these tailor-made retreats, you can create your own rejuvenation break. The best escape is to hire the beautiful Villa Can Can with a group of friends. Sleeping up to 12, this restored farmhouse is set on a mountain and surrounded by pine trees, and has panoramic views over its own private pool to the beaches of Aguas Blancas. There's a team to look after you, including a masseuse, reflexologist, dietary specialists, life coaches and yoga/Pilates teachers. Food is on a half-board basis and your private chef will visit the villa to cook delicious organic, vegetarian cuisine. In the evenings you can try one of the many recommended restaurants or explore further afield. Accommodation is also available for couples and families at a range of hotels, B&Bs and private villas. You can even arrange a day retreat to tag onto the end of your holiday. Don't miss: La Paloma, one of the island's finest organic restaurants, just down the mountain from Villa Can Can. How to get there: Villa Can Can costs from £830 per person for three nights, excluding flights (ibizaretreats.com).
YEOTOWN RADIANT HEALTH RETREATS, DEVON BEST FOR... A PHYSICAL CHALLENGE Set in 50 acres of rolling hills in the town of Snapper, this is the perfect post-Christmas detox programme. The Yeotown Yeotox is based on healthy eating and detox-focused meals; relaxation in the form of meditation, tai chi and tailored daily massage; and fitness building and bracing outdoor exercise along the stunning coastline, including hiking, cycling or sea kayaking. It's physically and mentally challenging but, by the end of a week, you'll be 5-10lb lighter, healthier, clear-headed and relaxed. In the evenings, you return to your own cosy room in a converted farmhouse. Each room is different - from a chalet style with rustic panelling, to the Hendrix room, so called because of the limited edition black-and-white prints of the singer that line the walls. However, all are spacious and comfortable, with large bathrooms, under-floor heating and fabulous showers (which you'll need after a muddy coastal hike). You'll also work up an appetite that will be more than satisfied by chef Julia Waghorn's home-grown organic, low-fat dishes - favourites include the roasted butternut squash salad, and cannnellini bean hotpot with pesto. They even make their own three-seed fresh bread on site. Don't miss: A cycle ride along the banks of local rivers and over the hills. It's hard work but the reward is breathtaking views. How to get there: Take the train from Paddington to Tiverton Parkway with First Great Western. Prices at Yeotown from £485 per person for three nights full-board (yeotown.com). • VFOR MORE GREAT TRAVEL IDEAS F
