autumn edition of S41 local Magazine. As the nights draw in we welcome the autumnal colours that the third season brings, I find myself reflecting on a fantastic summer filled with laughter, adventure, friends and family. The weather overall has been wonderful, and the sun was shining all weekend at Camp Bestival, our kid's first festival. From learning a Bollywood dance to watching Elvana (Elvis fronted Nirvana) we had the best time ever. As a parent there is nothing better than seeing the sheer joy in your children's eyes as they experience something for the first time. Camp Bestival embodies the best of humanity, and we are beyond privileged to have been a part of it. Our youngest Florie starts ‘Big school’ this week and she is extremely excited. Mixed emotions for me here. On the one-hand I will have more time to work in the day, which means less evening and weekend working on the magazine. On the other-hand she will not be in the house at all during the day and I will miss her hourly demands for snacks and playing mum’s and dad’s. Evangeline starts at Brookfield and is growing too fast! I am excited for her new chapter filled with knowledge, friendship, love, and heartbreak. I don’t envy teenage girls, the pressure they are under to look and act a certain way in an always connected world is immense, but I am sure she will take it all in her stride. Every morning before she leaves the house for school I say, “I can,” to which she replies, “I know I can.” I love this. Anyway, that’s enough about us. This month's front cover image was taken by Katy Strudwick, a woman of many talents. She has a passion for the Derbyshire countryside (don’t we all) and we couldn’t think of a better image to end the summer on. Fiver fest is back with a plethora of local businesses offering amazing products and services for just five pounds. Check out our three page spread in this edition. The what’s on pages are packed with so many amazing things to do, right here, in Chesterfield. Here is my pick of the bunch: 100 years of Chesterfield Music – David Phie Improv on Elm Street - A Halloween Spooktaculaaaaaargh! The 1940’s Market We hope to see some of you there. Steph from Steph's Sustainable Stuff with her Fiver Fest offer back in 2020...seems like an age a go!
Totally Locally founder Chris Sands said “Over 100 towns from the North of Scotland to the South coast of England now take in Fiver Fest events on a regular basis. It’s a campaign that sees incredible offers from £5 massages, to £5 veg boxes, £5 walking tours, £5 lunch deals, £5 ghost story-telling, £5 axe-throwing session, and even £5 Scottish dance lessons! Independent Business owners are really inventive with their offers, and we encourage them to also promote their
Independent businesses coming together to highlight their contribution to the great British high street and ChesterfieldChesterfield is taking part. Words: Paul Chapman Images: EconomyTotallylocallyPage6 www.s41local.com
Over 100 towns and thousands of businesses across the UK are joining together to bring you very special £5 offers, to highlight the contribution to the economy that local shops and businesses bring. It is also an opportunity for those businesses to say “Thank you” to their loyal customers who have supported them through the pandemic. And Chesterfield is joining in.
neighbouring businesses' offers too. Fiver Fest is about everyone working together to promote their town and high street as a whole, instead of individually. If lots of shops have great offers on, the trip to the high street is really worthwhile and Atfun!'the time of going to print, many businesses were still thinking about their Fiver Fest offers but those I do know of are shown opposite. Please look out for Fiver Fest posters between the 8 and 22 October when you'll find many more of Chesterfield's Independent businesses taking part.
Fiver Fest is a free to join campaign, devised and run by Totally Locally, a Grass Roots High Street Organisation that has been helping businesses and High Streets to help themselves since 2010 with incredible results.
The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, but it is easy to slip back into old shopping habits now that things are returning to normal. So, this is a little nudge to say ‘Our local businesses are still here, we are still serving our community and we appreciate your support. And of course we are great value!”.
FIVER FEST: 8 to 22 October
Happy shopping. www.totallylocally.org www.fiverfest.co.uk
Even if you don't see a poster, you can still show your support by trying out a new independent business and spending a fiver (or more) with them.
Spending just £5 a week in Chesterfield can make a big difference to our High Streets, the “Fiver Fest” promotes this message.
Fiver Fest is based around the now famous Totally Locally £5 message: 'If every adult in Chesterfield spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean £20.4 Million per year going directly into our local economy. Which can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live. Makes you think doesn’t it ?!'

“I don’t go out looking for anything specific. My photos are a result of seeing a combination of colours or textures and the right opportunity.” One of her recent shots taken on a walk in Linacre Woods was featured in the national Guardian newspaper and is still a “pinch me moment” for Katy! She reflects “I think I was lucky to have been inspired by both my parents. My Dad is a painter, now living in France. Growing up we had his work and photos on the walls at home – I always thought how cleverly he caught the combinations of colour and subjects. My Mum, who sadly passed away eight years ago, supported my young enthusiasm for seeing through a lens. I clearly recall how she allowed me to drag her out of bed before dawn during our holidays, to accompany me on taking some scenery shots as the sun came up.”

Katy’s love of sunrises and sunsets has endured and feature among her collection of images, along with shots of Walton Dam, Linacre, and other Peak District places as well as holiday venues. She has been invited to exhibit some of her favourite pictures in Holymoorside on Sunday 9 October, with a preview following a “Sounds & Scenes” Concert on Saturday 8th October. Helped with the choice by husband, Chris and niece Amelie, Katy has selected a number of attractive cards, calendars and mounted pictures to display, discuss and for immediate sale or to Sharingorder. the exhibition with Katy’s Photography are:

Katy Strudwick is well-known and greatly respected in the local classical music scene as a recital performer, accompanist, flute and piano teacher and ABRSM music examiner. Following her Music Degree at Royal Holloway University in Surrey, Katy has been teaching and performing in and around Chesterfield for 20 years. Her principal instrument is the flute, and she is also an accomplished pianist. During 2020/21 when tuition and live music events were either not allowed or greatly restricted, she took time out to develop a passion for photography. Katy’s stunning images reflect the magic of the Derbyshire landscape which, amazingly, she now mainly captures on her iPhone. Whilst we looked through some of her ever-expanding portfolio, she told me that her interest began when she was quite young. “I remember having a camera as a teenager and the excitement of capturing a moment in time. Of course, using and processing film was a different experience 35 years ago; now we can see our digital pictures immediately!” Her images are just as she sees them – without any modification, which makes them all the more remarkable and a testament to her eye for a composition. However, this requires considerable patience, perseverance, and a little good luck for the right conditions. She says, “I enjoy getting up early to catch the best light or to see the dew on a web or frost on a leaf before it is disturbed, and the quiet of that time of day is quite special.” She continues “I also love walking in the countryside and was introduced to the Walk 1000 Miles challenge by a friend last year (walk1000miles. co.uk). I completed the virtual Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge – and have continued the habit, usually setting out from my home in Somersall. Photography is the perfect walking Katycompanion!”explains

As I type the properties left include the three bed ‘Bloomfield’, a three-storey house with integral garage, three beds and three bathrooms. “The space in these properties is fantastic,” explains Jess. “Perhaps a little deceiving from the outside.
“Linden Homes is always keen to support the local community around our developments and have loved the project we ran with Walton Peaks
“The development has been selling really well,” says Jess. “We only have a few properties left that are due to complete in 2022, it's another success story for people wanting to get onto the property ladder or expand into a stylish larger home.”
If you’re in the market for your first home or moving to a new larger home visit the site on Whitecotes Lane or check out the website for details. If you don’t manage to secure one of the last homes available for 2022, you can sign up to their mailing list for their new releases expected for 2023.

Walton Peaks Linden Homes delivering a new quality, community place you can call home. Words: Paul Chapman Image: Linden Homes Business Intro Page 14 www.s41local.com
As well as local direct engagement with schools, Linden Homes under their other arm of the business, Vistry Partnerships, joined the Chesterfield Champions organisation and have attended Springwell College where they spent some time with year nine and ten Design Technology students. “This was really appreciated by the students,” explains Jess. “We covered everything that happens on one our developments, starting with initial processes and designs through to the more practical side from digging foundations to the final handover with the new owners. We were also able to provide information about how colleges can get involved with us through apprenticeship schemes.”
Linden Homes is close to completing the new development of over a hundred new, energy efficient homes at Walton Peaks on part of the Walton Hospital site on Whitecotes Lane. I caught up with marketing manager Jess Sidewell from Linden Homes to see how things were going.
“We have also helped run a Christmas card competition with the school, which was great fun.”
You can also see Linden Home's logo on local sports teams through sponsorship of Brampton Rovers Under 8’s and A little further afield, Bramley Sunnyside U10’s team in Rotherham where sponsored by the Vistry Partnerships side of the business, where the site managers son plays.
The homes all achieve an energy efficiency rating of B and benefit from double glazing, twozone heating controls and above regulation loft insulation. The finish of the homes focuses on quality with a selection of upgrade packs available to some, some already have packs preinstalled that include upgraded kitchen appliances, lighting and landscaping that provides for parking for four cars in some of the larger properties.
“The three bedroomed ‘Elliot’ is a more traditional build over two floors, but it enjoys a large living room/diner that opens out onto the rear garden.”
With living space spread over three floors it allows us to deliver a large kitchen/ diner and separate lounge on the first floor, full height floor to ceiling windows in the lounge and a third storey bedroom adds to the appeal of this property and it enjoys the benefit of an integral garage, shower room, WC and bedroom on the ground floor.
The Walton Peaks development consists of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, semi-detached and detached. The site is a mixture of open market, shared ownership and affordable homes, making an attractive community just over a mile from Chesterfield town centre.
Flying High Academy. We gathered up a bundle of building materials and, on the hottest day of the year built a fantastic bug hotel with year three students, the only problem was it was so hot it was installed in a classroom!

The Unhampered online directory showcases over 200 local businesses and is a great place for you to seek out the indpendents and support them, but it's also a place that helps visitors to town find the best we have to offer. We have a number of Founder Members as shown on these pages, please go and visit them; Adorn Jewellers, Bottle & Thyme, Defeye Creative, Ginspired, Ingmans, Libby's, Pizza Pi, Odyssey Greek Restaurant, S40 & S41 Local Magazines,Tallbird Records, The Cafe at Libby's, The Cheese Factor, The Vintage Tea Rooms, and Vanishing Point Records. What one piece of advice would you give your younger self?
I'm very big into self care and taking time out to do the things you enjoy. Everybody lives such busy lives these days, and while they might only visit the studio for a 45 minute treatment, I love that its 45 minutes that's just for themselves. I know how much a beauty treatment makes me feel better, so I love that I can make people feel Whatgood!

lots of things I love about the industry I'm in, but the biggest thing for me is the time, freedom, and flexibility. It allows me to do the things that I love, and I can work my appointments around the rest of my life too! What treatments services do you offer?
Have you always had an interest in all things Ibeauty?wouldsay yes, I've always had an interest in beauty on a personal level. I actually went to college to study beauty because I had no idea what I wanted to do and just thought it would be something I'd enjoy. I don't think I anticipated loving it so much. I certainly never dreamed I'd be where I am now!

I think social media is great for things like this!
love the most about your job?
They can expect a friendly, one to one service, I work by myself so appointments are always private. Toby loves a bit of fuss so if you're a dog lover then great (don't worry if not, he's well out of the way unless invited!) Appointments are tailored to the individual and whatever the client is comfortable with, if they want to chat about anything and everything, we can do that, if they want a quiet appointment, that is also fine by me!

one thing would you change about your job, if you could? At the moment, there's nothing I'd change, however, one day, my business will be my full time job. Also if everybody could bring their dogs to their appointments in the studio I'd really appreciate that!
imee of AMQ Nails and Beauty has been in the magazine for as long as I can remember, so I thought we should get to know her a little better!
What was young Aimee like and did you grow up Ilocally?grewup in Darley Dale, I had a pretty normal childhood! My brother is 2 years younger than me, and we had a gorgeous Golden Retriever called Max, I absolutely loved him! I was a very keen horse rider from a young age. I would be at the stables at 7am every weekend, even Christmas Day one year! I loved the outdoors and getting to help with all the horses needs as well as learning to ride and carriage drive while I was there.

Health SKIN
• Don't add bath oil to your water.(It can make the tub too slippery)
Dry skin can be caused by health problems like diabetes or kidney disease. Using too much soap, antiperspirants or perfume and taking hot baths can make dry skin worse. Some medicines can make skin itchy. Because older people have thinner skin, scratching can cause bleeding that may lead to infection. See your G.P. if your skin is very dry and itchy.
• Smoking • Feeling stress • Losing sweat and oil glands, which is common with age
Words: Philip Norcliffe Images: Adobe Stock Page 26 www.s41local.com
• Take fewer baths or showers and use milder soap. Warm water is less drying than hot water
• Try using a humidifier, an appliance that adds moisture to a room, or a bowl of water under a radiator
• Not drinking enough liquids, leading to dehydration • Spending too much time in the sun or sun tanning Being in very dry air
Many of the changes that I have written about in the past, all due to the normal processes of ageing, are hidden, both to ourselves and others, and unless we discuss them no one will be aware of their slow progress and the impact on us of those changes. We accommodate slow accumulations of changes brought about by the ageing process, often without noticing or apparently caring. The one system of the body about which we are made acutely aware of changes is to our skin. We are subject to a great deal of advertising on television and in magazines, emphasising changes to the skin as a result of ageing. I am in many ways unable to comment on the whole field of beauty therapy and treatments, their psychological, emotional, financial and social effects on individuals, so I will restrict myself to describing the physical effects of ageing. I would like to address the inevitable consequences of living longer, on the skin and underlying tissues. Skin, due to ageing, becomes rougher, dry, itchy and more transparent. Many older people suffer from dry spots on their skin, often on their lower legs, elbows, and lower arms. Dry skin patches feel rough and scaly. There are many possible reasons for dry skin, such as:
Some medicines or illnesses may also contribute to spontaneous bruising. Talk to your doctor if you see bruises and don't know how you got them, especially on parts of your body usually covered by clothing. If you are put on ‘blood thinners’ ask for the guidance notes of what to look out for or talk to your pharmacist.
Age spots, once called "liver spots," are flat, brown spots often caused by years in the sun. They are bigger than freckles and commonly show up on areas like the face, hands, arms, back, and feet. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen that helps protect against two types of the sun's rays (UVA and UVB) may prevent more age spots. PRESEVATION FOR THE ELDERLY
The loss of the elastic tissue in the skin due to age causes skin to become slack and hang more loosely. This is caused by thinning of the epidermis (outer layer). Increased skin fragility is caused by flattening of the area where the epidermis and dermis comes together, which bruises more easily caused by thinner blood vessel walls.
Here are some ways to help relieve dry, itchy skin:
• Use moisturizers, like lotions, creams, or ointments, every day
Older people bruise more easily than younger people. It can also take longer for bruises to heal.
A lot of claims are made about how to make wrinkles go away. Most of them don't work. Some methods can be painful or even dangerous, and many must be done by a doctor. Talk with a doctor specially trained in skin problems, called a dermatologist, or your regular doctor if you are worried about wrinkles.

Skin tags are small, usually flesh-coloured growths of skin that have a raised surface. They become common as people age, especially for women. They are most often found on the eyelids, neck, and body folds such as the armpit, chest, and Agegroin.spots and skin tags are harmless, although sometimes skin tags can become irritated. If your age spots or skin tags bother you, talk to your doctor about having them removed. Check your skin once a month for things that may be signs of cancer. Skin cancer is rarely painful. Look for changes such as a new growth, a sore that doesn't heal, or a bleeding mole. Check moles, birthmarks, or other parts of the skin for the "ABCDE's"

"I didn't scream, I laughed when we went down these huge inclines but that's because I trust her, she is a great driver. After we had been round a few times she said, 'right it's your turn now' and I took Prescilla down some inclines I didn't think I'd do, and I loved it," smiled Marcella.
The Rally positively encourages the participation of female only teams, empowering women from all over the globe to step out of their comfort zones and grow through adversity. It aims to raise over £20,000 for Cancer Research which Marcella and Helen will contribute to, with the help of our lovely readers of course. "The fact that we can raise a lot of money is a driving force, no pun intended. A lot of rallies are businesses, the aim is usually to make money but this one is 100% to the charities, apart from the expenses, the money raised by you entering the rally goes to charity, that's quite pioneering actually," exclaims Marcella
So, how did this all come about I hear you ask?

They will traverse mountainous sand dunes across one of the harshest environments on the planet and have eight days to complete the 2,022-kilometre rally. Various mini-challenges have been set along the way including the fastest tyre change and blindfolded navigation. Marcella and Helen are well-aware of the dangers they face in the desert and have been out practicing and preparing for such a monumental challenge and they are enjoying every minute of it.
"I went home (to France) for the first time in nearly three years, three weeks ago, for a long overdue catch-up with Helen. We went for dinner catching up with everything she's done, and mentioned that she wasn't sure if she'd got the right navigator and, I'd had a few glasses of wine, and I said I'd come," says HelenMarcella.isnostranger to the desert and has completed several rallies in the past. She will undertake most of the driving whilst Marcella navigates and fixes any mechanical issues that may arise. Understandably, she’s a little nervous. ‘unbroken.solutions’ explores the impact and responses to the environmental damage from our electrical and electronic waste. The project explores responses from multiple perspectives. It covers countries where a repair culture still exists, to countries creating city-wide solutions, to communities and volunteer groups creating local responses and the independent repairers. Underpinning all of this are those who seek to change the laws and regulations to give us all the ‘right to Unbrokenrepair’.Solutions is the brain child of critically accliamed photographer Mark A Phillips. His photography is largely focussed on ‘constructive’ stories about people and groups taking action to address societal problems; with an emphasis on the environment and sustainability. His current projects focus on the importance of repair and reuse as a response to waste and creating a sustainable future. He originally studied engineering, has a PhD researching innovation and social ecosystems, developing multi-perspective approaches to understanding emerging and complex systems. That research now informs his photography projects. His work has been published online and in print in various major newspapers and magazines and shown at exhibitions in the UK, Europe and USA. Environment
*Heating is the biggest part of a typical energy *It’sbill. better to turn off the heating when not in the house than to leave the heating on low all day.
• Switch appliances off when not using.
Words
Start Here - simple, low cost things Turn down the thermostat by 1 degree, put on a jumper and, if it feels ok, turn it down 1 more degree but PLEASE STAY WARM. The potential annual cost savings associated with simple changes are shown below.
• Warm the 'core' of the house only and keep unused rooms cooler by shutting the doors and turning the radiators off or low until warmth is needed.
• Put reflector foil behind radiators on external walls to reflect warmth back into the room and fit a shelf over the radiator to divert rising heat from the window.
• Fill any gaps in the freezer with cardboard boxes or newspaper. Did you know?
Other simple energy saving measures:
• Put up thick curtains or use thermal curtain linings, including over external doors.
Turn down the thermostat by 1 degree Take a 4 minute shower

• Avoid long curtains which cover the radiators. Close all curtains at dusk.
Use a chimney draught excluder Avoid using a tumble drier Draught proof gaps
• Have an external letter box rather than a hole in the door that lets heat escape.

• Use LED light bulbs.
• Lag hot water pipes.
• Use a timer on your thermostat to schedule heating. It wastes energy to heat an empty house!
• Turn the oven off 5 minutes before food is ready and just leave in for the final bit.
It's unlikely that you've not heard about rising costs, in particular our energy prices are set to nearly treble. Here are some changes we can all make taken from a flyer produced by Transition Chesterfield.
Easy
• Use cellular (thermal) blinds fitted close to the window as well as curtains.
• Bleed your radiators and service your boiler for greater efficiency.
• Reduce the flow temperature of your gas condensing boiler and save 6-8% on heating costs (see website for how to do this).
• Replace single glazed windows and doors with double or triple glazing. Other options - significant cost
Next steps - things that cost more
• Insulate your loft with 270mm insulation (save up to £580/year for a detached house with no insulation).

• Insulate ground level floors and fill gaps between floorboards using specialist sealant.
• Install solar panels to generate electricity (save £475/year).

Few singers can enjoy such a long career as Valerie Crick, who has marked her 51 years as a founder member of the Chesterfield Gilbert and Sullivan Society which was formed in 1971 at Central Methodist rehearsal rooms, Saltergate.
The Society had around 40 members back then and more recently gained a reputation for excellent productions of the Savoy Operas at The Pomegranate Theatre. Elizabeth Jepson, herself a member of the group for nearly 50 years said: "It has been a remarkable achievement to reach this landmark because many towns have lost their Gilbert and Sullivan Societies. For us still to be around is great, although it is getting harder each year to attract the audiences and to find new members."

Plant over-wintering onion sets and garlic and continue to sow winter lettucesstart in modules under cover (there are several varieties with varying degrees of hardiness: lamb’s lettuce, Winter Density, Valdor and All the Year Round are just a Nowfew).
When your crops of tomatoes etc. have finished, thoroughly clean greenhouses and cold frames while the days are still warm enough for them to dry out.
AUTUMN TIPS Words: Transition Chesterfield Images: Robert Nixon Betts
ponds with nets before heavy leaffall clogs them up – remember to remove the collected leaves before they weigh the net down or start to rot.
GARDENING
Garden Tips Page 46
Birds (especially pigeons) are fond of leafy green vegetables, so deter them with netting or lengths of black thread tightly stretched across and around the plants.
is a good time to think about ordering new fruit trees and moving existing ones (and shrubs) while the ground is still warm. Keep on top of tidying jobs but leave as many ornamental seed-heads as possible; they can look good, especially frosted, and provide food for birds. Attracting these to the garden can also help with pest control, as they will eat the eggs and larvae of some nuisance bugs.
Keep harvesting runner and French beans, many vegetables (including courgettes) will keep trying to produce more as long as they’re not allowed to set seed - it’s the same principle as dead-heading ornamental plants. There comes a time when they really have finished, so cut them off at ground level, leaving the roots, which will have collected valuable nitrogen, in the ground.
Houseplants will need watering less often, and don't need to be fed any more this Coveryear.
I
Remember that next year's fruit will appear on the previous year’s growth, e.g. raspberries and blackcurrants.
When leaves have fallen then this is the time to give your soft fruit, blackcurrants, blackberries and all the hybrids some shaping while they are dormant.
f you have heavy clay soil, make a start on digging it over, leaving the lumps to be broken down by frost over winter. If you have any compost, which will improve the soil structure, incorporate it as you go.

with a Spireite win, courtesy of Mandeville. He scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half. Another home game followed 3 days later with Deadpool's Welsh side Wrexham coming to town. They sold out the entire away end and boy did they let us know they were there! Before the game even started they were very vocal. The Welsh like to sing! Shame then they decided to throw a red smoke grenade on the pitch in front of their own keeper just as he arrived on the pitch at the goal in front of his travelling fans.
The Spireites then played some of the best football I've seen at the club for many a year. Paul Cook has put together a fantastic squad. It really does look like they wanna play for Cookie and win the league outright. Well accept for the keeper perhaps. I've not seen passing and movement for ages as good as what I saw that Tuesday night. And the goals...Outstanding!

Words & Images: Michael South Welcome back my fellow Spireites. The friendly games are done. The signings have been made and the squad has been assembled for the assault on the 2022/23 footballing season... So, what could possibly go wrong? Well nothing, for the first 27 minutes anyway. The opening game of the season was away at Dorking Wanderers and midway through the first half our new keeper Covolan was sent off for charging out of his area and lashing out at a defender after clearing the ball. So with ten men and no substitute keeper on the bench, up stepped Ollie Banks to don the keepers jersey and swap midfield for the bloke between the posts. It was all going so well up until that point too as Asante became the first Spireite scorer of the new campaign after just 18 minutes. It got a bit more hopeful just before halftime when Dobra made it 2-0, so all looked back on track. But that all changed in the second half. Dorking, freshly promoted to the National League, clawed back 2 goals in 10 minutes, 67th and the 77th minute to level the game. Then to add to it all, on the 96th min, Horton was then sent off for time wasting during a throw-in. This was later rescinded however when CFC appealed the decision, claiming the second yellow card given to Horton was for mistaken identity. So that was something I guess. The game ended with a point a piece, at 2-2. So not the greatest start to a footballing season especially as the unexpected hunt was now on to sign another goalkeeper for the next fixture. After a short search though the club signed Fitzsimons as the new goalie. Next up came the first home tie of the season to Aldershot. This did go as planned and it ended
Next up came a short drive down the M1 to Nottingham for Notts County. This, like the Dorking game two weeks prior, ended 2-2. After being 2 goals up the Spireites seemingly switched off in the second half and conceded 2 goals within 4 minutes. No keeper was sent off though this time. But we still need to see our games out when ahead if we wanna dominate this league. At the time of writing, we've just played Barnet and not only did we smash them 3-1 at home but Tshimanga scored his first of the season fresh from the bench, newly signed Jesurun Uchegbulam made his professional debut for the Spireites from Matlock Town. But, most importantly… We ended the night firmly Top. Of.The. League!!! Plus, if you've noticed, all the goalscorers so far for Chesterfield have come from all positions, which is a huge positive for us. Cook has crafted an attack minded squad of players, like he said he

Jeff King and Ollie Banks both got on the score sheet in the first half and for a while I heard the Kop sing "We are top of the league!" I really felt like we were back and heading in the right direction, all without Tshimanga, who was on the bench and not needed.

would when he arrived. So, unlike last season, we aren't heavily reliant on Kabby to score the goals. Hence him not named in the starting lineup and being subbed on against Notts County. How much in technical terms have we improved if Cook can say to Webb or Roberts "Nah, we don't need him yet"? Now don't go thinking for a minute that we don't really need him, because we do. The season's only young. It's still in its short shorts, and we are bound to have our fair share of injuries as the games go by. No, he'll play his part and bag many more goals as the season unfolds, of that I am certain. So, to recap. We are still unbeaten and the Kop once again can proudly chant "We Are Top Of The League" at the time of writing.
