Mentors’ Speak

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Persistent questioning and healthy inquisitiveness are the first requisite for acquiring learning of any kind. At NIFT, we believe in encouraging exploration, leading to all-round learning - and that includes the Institute itself. By keeping abreast of the society, environment and industry, we can achieve continuous growth and evolution, inspiring the youth who entrust us with their education. National Institute of Fashion Technology has pioneered fashion education in India and continues to set the benchmark in the field. Across all campuses, the institute creates a favorable environment for interactive and practical learning, enabling students from all over the country to achieve their Potential. Fashion being a serious business, we want our graduates to be as prepared as possible to face the real-world problems and constraints of the Industry. Imparting knowledge is just one of the many facets of a NIFT education. Through the many modules, visits, interaction and mentoring sessions that a student goes through, we hope to impart other important qualities that go into the making of a professional and a good human being. Brilliance is not worth much if integrity is missing; and creativity cannot thrive without tenacity. In other words, we aspire to create a balanced personality, with enough room for diligence, innovation, social responsibility and the ability to improvise. I hope that the young minds graduating in the FMS Patna Class of 2014 are ready to embark upon this new journey with a hunger to continue learning from practical experience in their work and life. My best wishes to the Class of 2014.

Mr. Prem Kumar Gera Director General National Institute of Fashion Technology

As you all graduate from the corridors of this prestigious institution, I welcome you back as a member of NIFT's Alumni Association. Each of you must have a unique NIFT's experience and yet I believe you all will have the same one. Whether you have a memory of canteen or classroom conversations, presentations, club activities, you all share a professional NIFT experience that unites you all. Certainly, not every day was wonderful. Even so, and perhaps because of the challenges that you faced here, the campus has helped shape for the better. It should be the aim of all of you to see that your experience does not end. If you continue to be engaged with activities of NIFT - directly or indirectly, you will find that your life will be vastly enriched. New horizons will appear and new friendships will form to match those that were a part of your life when you were at NIFT. You will feel the zest and excitement of your NIFT days again. We should hear from you early and often about the contributions that you build to contribute to the 360 degree growth of your professional and personal frontiers. My congratulations on successful completion of your programme; my congratulations to your parents and your family members who provided the support you needed to achieve this academic distinction. Make sure that through your words and deeds you uphold the honour of the Institute. I am sure you are also looking ahead with excitement about the future that awaits you. Ten, twenty or thirty years from now I am sure you would have no recollection of the specifics of this event. Do return to the campus- of course the NEW ONE as often as you can. It would be a pleasure to receive you. Be honest, be bold and believe in yourself and the world will be at your feet. I wish you the very best as you start your journey as alumni of this great Institution. I would like to congratulate the entire team of the Fashion Management Dept. Patna, who under the able guidance of Associate Professor Shri Toni Sharma is all set to scale new heights. All the best for giving us this day.

Goodbye is too good a word, so I'll just say fare-thee-well......Bob Dylan It's again that time of the year when the FMS Students graduate and leave the august portals of NIFT Patna. There's no easy way to bid adieu to the batch and it shall never be. As they graduate from NIFT, they are well poised ready to enter the new sanctum - the industry, where the 'classes' are going to be never ending! It is expected from the graduating batch that they will take everything in stride, good times as well as bad times. They say, "Life is not a bed of roses". Well then......... create rose beds and nurture them to make life a more beautiful place for ourselves and for everyone. They are our future ambassadors and it is their brilliant work and contribution to the industry and to the society that shall bring to us true peace and happiness and a sense of accomplishment. We hope that in due course of time they shall learn to be their true self no matter what the circumstance, be principled and be worthy of trust. I hope that the passing out batch shall achieve enduring success by virtue of patience and hard work. They shall make good of the values learnt within the environs of NIFT and walk the talk. As a beacon of optimism, it is expected that they shall spread the good word and camaraderie and thereby strengthen the reputation of their alma mater. With this i bid adieu to the passing out batch and wish them the best of times!
