Ramble On: Whenever the month of March roles around, I inevitably think of Dr. Seuss and a smile immediately comes to my face. I thought I’d share some fun facts about one of my favorite authors with all of you.

By Ebony E. On Friday February 16th River View High School held our second annual Black History month celebration. As always, it was a well put together celebration by students and staff. The focus was on Bob Marley and the reggae culture and their contributions to music and the African American Culture. As we walked into the auditorium, the band was already playing some reggae music to set the tone. The show began with a power point presentation read by Wesley and then followed by Marissa. The slides began with a focus on Bob Marley’s inspiration for music, Sam Cooke. A highlight at this point, was a solo by our own Portia singing,” A Change Is Gonna Come”
Cooke. If you missed this amazing performance, you can catch it on the Hawk’s Nest Radio. She rocked the house down! The art work on the wall was created by students that were inspired by Bob Marley and his music. Artwork is currently on display in the Library and other locations within the building. The slides continued with some basic facts about Bob Marley and these were intertwined with concert footage and his music. The band played well together and the music flowed nicely. The audience sang along using the words that were on the screen. Every one had a good time and the audience appreciated the work everyone put in to get to this day.
Special thanks to Mr. Crecco, Ms. Levy, Mr. Liberth, Mr. Welsh and Ms. Piccone for their help and hard work to put this together.
