Gauteng hosts workshop for aspiring DJs

The department hosted a two-day workshop to train fifty (50) young aspirant DJs. The workshop was held in Soweto on the 28th and 29th January 2023.

Young people who attended the workshop were sourced from the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative Programme (PYEI), who are contracted by Gauteng Department of Education to implement Arts and Culture programmes in schools. These young people will be sent to schools across the province to train learners as part of the Gauteng CreActive Sports and Arts School Programme.

At the end of the workshop participants were equipped with skills including the theory of DJying, knowledge of the software used, equipment setup and use of DJ’s controllers and how to teach learners to work their way around the equipment. The department has procured the necessary equipment and material that will be required by the selected participants.
