Vineyard UPDATE We all popped the bubbles here recently for the wedding of our Assistant Winemaker, Stuart. He married the lovely Moraya in October and the smile is still on his face. Congratulations Stu and Moraya!
So far, the vineyards are looking fantastic in the Hunter Valley. Good rain fall during bud burst in September and October has given the vines a great head start for the growing season. I have very tightly crossed fingers for continued good weather, as before you know it, we will begin harvesting and 2019 Vintage will be here. Amazingly, Christmas is just around the corner, where most of us are fortunate to spend it celebrating with close friends and family. Christmas also brings with us the excitement of verasion in the vineyard. Verasion is the ever important time when our baby grapes start to mature and ‘ripen’. The grapes go from green to red (or yellow in the case of white grapes) pretty much bang on Christmas day here in the Hunter Valley. #V19 here we come!!!

Winemaker’ s NOTE It’s been an exciting year here at Saddler’s Creek celebrating our many awards and nominations. We have also released some new and exciting wines. This includes a stellar line up of Hunter Valley reds from the outstanding 2017 Vintage. Keep an eye out for the 2017 Saddler’s Shiraz, 2017 Alessandro Reserve Shiraz and 2017 Ryan’s Reserve Vanessa Shiraz. Also, we see a return of some classics including the 2018 Saddler’s Verdelho and the 2016 Bluegrass Cabernet Merlot (See page 5 for details on the Bluegrass Cabernet Merlot). With so many new releases and favourite returns, we have put together our first Christmas Catalogue to showcase our current range of wines along with our Christmas offers. The Saddler’s range of multi-region contemporary wines has enjoyed remarkable success – winning multiple awards, critical acclaim and a loyal following. These include styles from Hunter Valley varieties like Semillon and Chardonnay through to modern takes on classics like Rosé and our medium bodied Shiraz Viognier and Pinot Noir. These wines are perfect for the Summer BBQ. We have recently released two new wines from the Hunter Valley into the Saddler’s stable. The Verdelho has already collected 5 awards including a Gold Medal. A refreshing dry white wine bursting with tropical fruit flavours, enjoy with Asian style dishes or fresh prawns on a warm Summer’s day! The newly released Hunter Valley Shiraz is from the acclaimed 2017 Vintage. Ideal growing conditions produced a rich and vibrant Shiraz, with concentrated fruit and well-balanced oak.

Winemaker’ s CRAFT This range introduces innovation and creativity in wine styles and varieties. These wines are experimental in nature but not in quality. They are very limited in quantity and only sold via our Cellar Door. The next wine to feature in this range is the 2017 Pinot Shiraz highly recommended by our winemakers. Due for release December 2018.

Our iconic Bluegrass Collection is produced from premium grapes which are historically harvested from Langhorne Creek in South Australia. The Bluegrass Collection have gained a reputation for being rich, complex and full bodied red wines. Intensely flavoured, elegantly textured and crafted for longevity.
‘LIMITED RELEASE’ MAGNUM 2016 BLUEGRASS CABERNET MERLOT Sees its return for the first time in over a decade! A traditional Bordeaux blend, 50% Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Mudgee Merlot has created a soft, generously flavoured, yet full bodied wine. Delightful lifted aromas of raspberry and ‘cigar box’ characters combine with a rich, ripe plum and mulberry mouthfeel, supported by fine tannins derived from maturation in American Oak gives this blend the signature ‘Bluegrass’ stamp. The ‘Limited Release’ Magnum 2016 Bluegrass Cabernet Merlot is exclusively available to Club Equus Members only and is a BONUS gift to our Members when purchasing any of the Bluegrass Offers on pages 10-11.

Phil won’t tell you this but, in 2006, he received the NSW State Government Graham Gregory Award for outstanding contributions to the NSW wine industry. Then, in 2009, he was honoured by his Hunter Valley Wine Industry peers as a “Hunter Valley Living Legend”.

COLLECTION Producing wine is in the Laureti brother’s blood. Frank and Serge’s father, Alessandro Laureti produced wine in Italy before migrating with his wife Maria to Australia in the 1950’s. Wine has long been part of the family culture, "growing up there was never a meal without a glass of wine, it became the Laureti way of life," explains Frank. This collection recognises a man for his principles in keeping life simple. He believed in working hard, with passion and delighted in time spent with family and friends, all the while enjoying the pleasures of good food and great wine.

This collection celebrates the importance of terrior and the art of winemaking combined with the timeless values of the Laureti Family. The Alessandro Reserve Collection are produced from hand-selected parcels of the finest quality fruit from a collaboration of growers from the Hunter Valley, Tumbarumba and Langhorne Creek. Fruit from these vineyards were set aside and made in small batches to highlight the unique characteristics of the varietal and the individual terrior of the region. Pristine fruit, a gentle hand and the finest oak gives finesse, flavour and longevity. These wines are crafted for sharing and celebrating the Laureti way!
