Crafted in the spirit of innovation and creativity

Initiated from the fire & soul in our winemaker’s passion for their craft. The WINEMAKER’S CRAFT, was created with the sole purpose to be innovative and creative.

They are created with high intention, sincere effort, intelligent craftmanship and skillful execution.

No rules, no boundaries but an abundance of will and desire to play, to explore and create, to be unafraid to fail and confident to try new things.

They are produced from the desire to continuously improve and better oneself.

These wines are experimental in nature but not in quality!

Winemaker - Brett Woodward Celebrating his 10th Vintage at Saddler’s Creek Wines

The joy of being a boutique winery is our ability to be agile, to intuitively move toward opportunities with the freedom to be creative and innovative.

Fuelled by an unwavering curiosity, to pioneer new ways of creating the extraordinary.

Unconstrained by big business marketing departments, we are instead driven by a desire to play, to have fun, to live with love and passion in everything that we do. We are huge believers in trying, in striving to be and do our best, to take a punt in pursuit of something unique. We are fortunate to be surrounded by many like-minded people, namely those in our Saddler’s Creek family. From the day we became owners, the heart and soul of the people surrounding us quickly became apparent, their drive, their passion... it is contagious! So then we asked one simple question to our winemaker, “Brett, what would you really love to make?” and there it was, the enthusiasm, the desire to do good, to try new things, to better oneself. From that

the Bluegrass Sparkling Cabernet evolved, it was a true testament to our winemakers’ initiative and shared desire for innovation. We did not however want it to end there! We wanted to encourage growth, learning, leaning into opportunities that emerge, we wanted to support and nurture the culture of continuous improvement and with that the “Winemaker’s Craft” was born, first released in 2017. We proudly present to you the new release Winemaker’s Craft ‘Single Barrel’ Shiraz Collectors Trio Edition along with the Single Suitcase Montepulciano. Enjoy!

In pursuit of emerging varietals The Winemaker’s Craft ’Single Suitcase’ Montepulciano salutes the many immigrants who arrived in Australia during the 1950’s. Prior to the influx of immigration during the 1950’s fortified wines like Sherry were the popular choice. These wine loving

NEW VARIETAL

“New” Australians passed on an incredible amount of knowledge, skill and experience together with their passion for table wines to our legendary and emerging winemakers. Their influence greatly evolved alternate varietals grown and wine styles which we enjoy today.

Alessandro Laureti, a single suitcase immigrant, arrived in Australia in 1955 leaving behind his wife Maria and son Serge to start to build the dream for them. Like so many immigrants he brought with him and embedded into his family culture the love of good wine with good food. The new release and varietal to Saddler’s Creek Wines - Montepulciano, nicknamed Monte in Australia, is commonly grown in Abruzzo, Italy, where the Laureti family immigrated from. With great sentiment, we are proud to introduce the ‘Single Suitcase’ Montepulciano as a new varietal into the Winemaker’s Craft Collection. As one of Australia top emerging varietals, it is loved for it’s drinkability and a must to enjoy with family and friends

2019 MONTEPULCI A NO With their dreams in hand, they brought their love of table wine which significantly influenced winemaking styles in Australia.

McLaren Vale This ‘Single Suitcase’ Montepulciano is a lovely ‘new world’ example of this much loved Italian varietal. The fruit was harvested in the cool of the day to preserve the fruit flavours and aromas. Fermentation took place in small open fermenters at moderate temperature, 20-28°C and the fruit gently extracted to give a soft, round, flavoursome palate. The wine was put through secondary fermentation in 3 to 5 year old French and American oak barrels and allowed to mature for 6 months in oak. TASTING NOTES: Bright energetic red fruits, with soft elegant spices and long persistent tannins.

REGION: Willunga vineyard, McLaren Vale, SA. CELLAR: Medium term up to 5 years. SERVE: 16-18˚C. PAIR: Savoury foods including meats, pizzas and tomato-based pastas. Pappardelle Ragu.
