The Blue Water Miniature Horse Club was created for the purpose of promoting knowledge and awareness of the miniature horse; to network and expand activities by creating avenues for showing, driving, harness racing, and promoting futurities, parades, clinics, gelding incentive programs; to earn high point awards in an atmosphere of camaraderie, fun and enjoyment for all who love miniature horses. What year was the association founded? In the late 1980's. Do you have an annual banquet? Yes, in the spring. What is the average number of members? 65 Do you have an annual fund-raiser? To qualify for highpoint you must be a member of the BWMHC and show under 3 judges (i.e. either all 3 club shows or our AMHR sanctioned show and 1 club show). Are there year end awards? Purpose Statement: The Buchanan Westerners Riding Club Incorporated is a non-profit organization run solely by its membership. Our non-profit organization is dedicated to the American Family through their love of horses. Our goal is to be able to continue supporting programs involving Horseback Riding for Handicapped Children, High School Equestrian, and 4-H Youth Activities. Buchanan Westerners was founded in 1946 and boasts a membership of about 125 members. Our membership runs on a calendar year. Buchanan Westerners does not focus on any particular breed, although we are approved through PAC. We hold 2 shows each month from May through September in addition to various clinics and fun show events. Our annual banquet is held in the late fall and offers several High Point awards, including age divisions as well as pleasure and gaming. We offer one primary fund raiser per year; a Tack Swap held in the fall and a variety of smaller fundraisers throughout the year. We have a website; www.buchananwesterners.org where many of your questions may be answered. If you have questions and wish to speak to someone, the board of directors are listed on the website as well. Monthly meetings for Buchanan Westerners are the second Thursday of each month at 7:30pm at the Buchanan Westerners clubhouse. New for this year Buchanan Westerners is offering a high point award for Novice exhibitors. We encourage those that are just getting started in the walk/trot/canter classes youth or adult, to join in this division. We also offer a couple of Walk/Trot classes for adults and children, which are restricted to Walk/Trot only. Exhibitors in both Novice and Walk/Trot are not eligible for other Walk/Trot/Canter classes. So, bring your babies to the walk trot classes, great experience and a lot of fun!

We have temporarily tabled some plans for expansions and updates. We feel this is a time to be judicious about spending, although we do feel things are starting to turn around.
What year was the association founded? 1986, we are one of the largest Arabian Horse organizations in Michigan. What is the average number of members? Approx. 200 Does your membership run January to December? Yes. What breed/discipline does the association focus on? Arabian and Half-Arabian horses (only). Do you have a Nat’l. affiliation? Our shows are all registered as Arabian Community Shows (ACS) with the Arabian Horse Association. How many events do you hold each year? Four shows. Where are they normally held? Locations vary. Is there a youth division? We do not have a Youth Division, but do offer classes broken out by age group. Is there an amateur division? No, classes are split by age groups and owner-to-ride and we also offer open classes that allow trainers to compete. Are there daily high points? We offer weekend highpoint for main arena and dressage classes. Are there year end awards? We provide year-end awards for almost every class we offer. The purpose of the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry is to preserve, protect, and perpetuate the working cow horse bloodlines of the Foundation Quarter Horse by the individuals that the FQHR deems as Foundation bred. The Registry is based on blood. The AQHA was organized in 1940 with similar intent. Therefore, the FQHR recognizes those horses listed in the first five studbooks (first 27,000 horses registered) as Foundation bred. What year was the association founded? High Point, Reserve High Point, Versatility and Reserve Versatility Champion by horse are the most highly prized. Individual Class High point awards given through 6 places. Highland Trail Riders Come Ride With Us! 2011 Membership Application Highland Recreation Area is located on M-59, midway between Howell and Pontiac in Southeastern Michigan. Twelve miles of scenic equestrian trails meander past lakes and ponds, through open meadows, up and over steep wooded hills. Three of the highest points in Oakland County lie within the park. A rustic horse campground is available, however it is not exclusive to horse campers. A recreation passport is required for entry. Membership fee is $15 (single or family). Does your association have a Mission Statement? In December, 1994, eight individuals gathered to brainstorm ideas on how to offer a fun, family-centere horse circuit. From that and many, many meetings after that, a group called Lower Michigan Horse Association or L.M.H.A. was born. We are now entering our 16th show season, and, in looking back, we have become a very fun, organized and competitive association. The goals of the association are to: promote interest in all breeds of horses; promote horse show activities; encourage good sportsmanship an competition; have high ethical standards among exhibitors; and offer something to all members of the family. Our purpose is to support family oriented activities in the equine area. L.M.H.A. shows are open for ALL to attend. Does your association have a Mission Statement? Yes, this is included in our bylaws. In 1996, the DNR and the Waterloo Horsemen's Association signed a partnership agreement. This was the first such agreement in Michigan where the DNR and a volunteer organization agreed to cooperate in the promotion of equestrian sports with the development and maintenance of a horse campground and horse trails within the Waterloo Recreation Area. Today, the trails and campground are substantially improved thanks to the volunteer work done by the WHA with supervision and guidance from the DNR. This is a good example of how government and individuals can work together.

Does your association have a Mission Statement? The WMAR is made up of a group of people that are dedicated to the promotion of the Appaloosa Horse. The WMAR puts on a fall futurity and stallion service auction which has been paying out over $8,000 dollars in prize money. We put on two Appaloosa Horse Shows a year plus co-sponsoring a show with the Michigan Appaloosa Association (MApHA). To finish the year there is a banquet in conjunction with the Michigan Club. The Class Winners and High Point Horses are recognized with very nice awards for their accomplishments all year. What year was the association founded? Approx. 1970. Do you have an annual banquet?
