ABOUT BLOOMIN’
Who is Bloomin’... Bloomin’ Promotions™ is a small family owned and operated company located in Boulder, Colorado. We started business as a greeting card company in 1995. In the beginning, we blended recycled paper in a blender in the backyard chicken coupe of founder, Tom Noyes. Don Martin was hired early on as an artist but with his extensive history in the greeting card industry, he quickly took the helm as the leader of our company. With out-of-control spending, Sue Swanson took over as our chief financial officer. Within a year, we were forced to leave our digs in the neighborhood, to seek a more traditional manufacturing location. After several years of fast growth in the greeting card industry, we realized our greater calling was in the promotional/advertising industry, although we still have a healthy stronghold in the retail environment and stationery/invitation business. Over the years, we have enjoyed employing “differently-abled” individuals from the Boulder community. Norman Tankersley is one of our longest standing employees, having worked with us for over 12 years. He plays a vital role in the production process of many products. Happy to be a part of our team, Norm greets each of us everyday with a bear-hug and a smile. We also enjoy the opportunity to work closely with the Watshop and Boulder County Enterprises, who also actively support the inclusion of individuals with disabilities within our community. Custom Seeded Paper Shapes Toyota asked us to create a unique shape for their upcoming advertising campaign. What better way to showcase this than with a custom die-cut shape of a car? It spoke to the public about their commitment to the environment and it was a wonderful keepsake, as well.
Toshiba wanted to promote their green recycled computer technology and to let the public know that they offered a free electronic recycling program. What better way to showcase this than to have a seeded paper in the shape of a laptop computer. It was a success!
Custom Seeded Paper Letterpress Shapes Nothing beats the look of letterpress printing. As you can see from the custom shapes below, with letterpress printing, you have the option of printing on any color seeded paper you choose! For best results, use dark inks on light paper. We try to keep 18 beautiful colors of wildflower seed paper in stock at all times. We stock our colors in 8.5” x 11” sheets. We can only print on these colorful sheets with our letterpress. Other seed mixes and sheet sizes are available. Our sheets can vary in color a small amount from batch to batch. We die-cut millions of shapes every year and our collection of dies keeps growing. They are fun printed or unprinted, and easily integrate with our standard or custom support products. Some of our stock cutting die shapes are shown, however we always encourage custom shapes and formats of any kind (additional set-ups apply). Pricing depends on size, shape, efficiency, quantities and printing specs. Please contact us with any questions for pricing on custom made shapes.

BLOOMIN’ THINGS TO CONSIDER ARTWORK: • Email art files to art@bloomin.com • We prefer Adobe® Illustrator files saved as an ai, eps, or pdf (be sure to outline or include all fonts). • Once we receive your files, we can e-mail you an electronic pdf proof. Imprint area—please allow 1/4” margin from edges of product. Emailed templates available upon request. • Bleeds are available on most but not all of our products. Please check to make sure.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES SECOND SIDE PRINTING: • On printed seeded paper add 30%. On printed card stock add 20%. With larger quantities please call for a quote as printing costs depend on artwork. Envelope printing—20¢ per envelope. All products will be printed on a coated white card stock unless otherwise stated. Earthy, uncoated paper is also available for an additional charge. PRE-PRODUCTION SAMPLES: • Pre-production samples are also available for $40–$90. SAMPLES: • Assorted and specific samples are available upon request. Please provide a FedEx, UPS or credit card # for expedited samples. • To request samples, send an e-mail to flowers@bloomin.com TURNAROUND TIMES: • Our turnaround time is fast, generally 7–10 working days from receipt of artwork approval. Rush service is available and subject to surcharge and express shipping costs. PRINTING ON SEED PAPER: There are limitations as to what we can print on the seed paper. • Less is more: Keep your ink coverage to a minimum. Let the seed paper be the hero; don’t cover it with ink. • Use thin lined fonts wherever possible, maybe make the text a percentage of black instead of black. • Avoid large solids and make any solids as light as possible.
SEED MIX: • Our paper is packed with seeds! The more seeds, the more flowers. Typically we include a hearty mix of annual and perennial wildflower seeds that is sure to grow across all growing regions (just follow the directions for planting). Custom mixes are also available including forget-me-not, petunia, zinnia, marigold, blue spruce, kentucky blue grass, herbs, peppers, vegetables and others. Subject to possible up-charges and minimums.
LETTERPRESS PRINTING: Bloomin’ owns and operates several vintage letterpress machines that can give your project an old world nostalgic debossed look. They are typically printed in one or two colors, one sheet at a time. Letterpress printing offers a stamped look and feel that is much less detail oriented than offset or inkjet printing. It does reiterate the hand-crafted look and feel and does not significantly decrease the germination rates. Letterpress printing can also accommodate your requests for specific seeds that might be larger than what we like to print on our inkjet system (tree, herb, vegetables, etc.)
STOCK SEEDED PAPER COLORS: • We offer bright and bold seed paper in 18 different colors. When printing directly on our seed paper, we use a smooth white seed paper. Custom colors are available but subject to minimum quantity requirements. See page 21 for information.
• Letterpress printing requires one plate charge per color, per side. • Plate pricing depends on several factors—please contact us for details of your specific order. • We charge $45 per PMS Pantone color use.
CARDSTOCK OPTIONS:
All prices in this catalog are based on white coated glossy cardstock on 2 sides with recycled content. C1S cardstock is also available upon request. There is a 10% up-charge for other papers that we commonly use, including: • Mohawk uncoated white 100% recycled cardstock • Genesis snow milkweed 100% recycled paper SET-UP CHARGES: • Standard set-up per printed side is $35 (G). ENVELOPES: • All regular folding greeting cards come with a basic white unprinted envelope with recycled content. We have other interesting envelopes for you to choose from. Including Genesis-milkweed or Snow envelopes that are 100% recycled with small inclusions of wood fiber that give it the appearance of earthy recycled paper. During the holidays, we also offer a variety of festive colors, including red, green, blue or yellow.
