KMRC and SAG-AFTRA Conservatory Present: My Big Year 2017 Ring in 2017 with a bang! Forget resolutions - it's time to create a clear vision of your life and move forward with excitement and passion. Say goodbye to 2016 - the good and the bad - and use what you learned to propel your life and career forward. Come get inspired and empowered, and be clear on what you want. SAG-AFTRA actor Courtney Rioux (NBC's Chicago Med) will help you go from stuck and unhappy to empowered and joyful - all while making it feel fun and easy. When: 6 - 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23 Where: Kaufherr Members Resource Center (KMRC) 1 E. Erie, Suite 660 Chicago, IL 60611 What to expect: Your year in review: Bring your 2016 calendars, journals, phone anything to help jog your memory. Set 2017 goals: Bring your imagination. Unblock anything that's keeping you stuck: Bring an open mind. SAG-AFTRA members will receive a 20-percent discount to Rioux's year-long program My Big Year. Enter on the north side of Ontario between Wabash and State, and then take a ticket. When you sign in, you may purchase a four-hour ticket for $13 cash, $14 Visa, MasterCard or American Express payment. You will need both tickets to exit the parking structure. This meeting is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Unfortunately, no guests allowed. Parents/guardians of younger performers under 18 years old are welcome. SAGAFTRA members, please bring your membership card (paid through April 30, 2017) for admittance.

Please join the SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local for a special live viewing of the 23 Annual SAG Awards. When: 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29 Reception - casual attire Light hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and prizes! Where: Rockit Bar & Grill 22 W. Hubbard Chicago, IL rockitbarandgrill.com 7 - 9 p.m. SAG Awards Show Live Free to SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Guests are $15 each, max of two guests per member. We will have a special section for our young performers, so all are encouraged to attend. Save the Date SAG-AFTRA to Volunteer at GCFD on Feb. 10 The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local is returning to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Join staff and members from 9 - 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. The GCFD is at 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place in Chicago near Midway Airport. Free parking is available. Volunteer opportunities include repacking bulk products to individual/family sizes, assembling boxes with assorted food, checking expiration dates, labeling products, sorting products, etc. Participants must be at least 14 years old. The GCFD is a nonprofit food distribution and training center that provides food for hungry people and strives to end hunger in our community. The GCFD distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to 678,000 adults and children in Cook County every year. This event is open to everyone. Chicago Federation Labor College Scholarship Applications Applications for this year's William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship are now available online. The Chicago Federation of Labor will award 10 college scholarships to high school seniors, valued at $2,000 each. There will be five winners from the Academic Competition and five winners from a random drawing. The William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship was created to show high school seniors that the labor movement stands in solidarity with them as they continue their educational pursuits. Essays will be evaluated and ranked by the Scholarship Committee based on best expression of personal experience and a fundamental understanding of what the labor movement represents. The application deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 15. In response to members' requests to stay informed, The Activator may include notice of rallies, pickets and other actions by unions and the labor movement that have not been sanctioned by the National or Chicago Board of Directors of SAG-AFTRA.
