Member Notice about SAG-AFTRA Franchised Talent Agents in Chicago Because of the inherent complexities of agency relations today, SAG-AFTRA has been receiving numerous requests to clarify the current state of affairs with respect to its franchised agents in Chicago. Pursuant to membership requirements, SAG-AFTRA members in Chicago are required to be represented by agents that are franchised under either the legacy SAG or the legacy AFTRA agency regulations. Representational relationships with non-franchised agents in Chicago do not comply with SAG-AFTRA rules and regulations. This precaution is necessary in order to ensure that our members' rights are fully protected in their relationships with their agents. Franchised agents (as well as the SAG-AFTRA members that they represent) are protected by, and bound to, the terms and conditions of Rule 16(g), aka the L-SAG Agency Regulations and/or Rule 12-C, aka the L-AFTRA Agency Regulations. Agents in Chicago who are not franchised are outside SAG-AFTRA's jurisdiction, and our members should be careful not to place themselves in violation of SAG-AFTRA membership rules by deciding to work with such agencies and potentially open themselves up to disciplinary review because of it. Should you have any agency-related questions, please do not hesitate to contact SAG-AFTRA's Professional Representatives Department at (323) 549-6745 or (212) 863-4305, or by email at agency@sagaftra.org. Also, please continue to check the SAG-AFTRA website for updated information on this and any other union matters. The Professional Representatives section of the website is also located here. SAG-AFTRA to Volunteer at GCFD Feb. 5 The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local is returning to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Join staff and members from 9 - 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 5. The GCFD is at 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place in Chicago. This is near Midway Airport. Free parking is available. We never know exactly what we'll be doing, but volunteer opportunities include repacking bulk products to individual/family sizes, assembling boxes with assorted food, checking expiration dates, labeling products, sorting products, etc. The GCFD distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to 678,000 adults and children in Cook County every year. This event is open to everyone. Please ask family and friends to join you. To volunteer, please RSVP to Linda Swenson at linda.swenson@sagaftra.org.
