April Conservatory Event: I Am Not a Police Officer, but I Play One on TV Please join Chicago police officer and technical advisor John Folino for a basic understanding of proper police technique and procedure. This seminar will give you the tools to use on set the next time you are hired to portray a law enforcement officer. For example: how to handle a weapon, clear a crime scene, frisk a perp. 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, April 27 Kaufherr Members Resource Center (KMRC) 1 East Erie, Suite 660 Chicago, IL 60611 RSVP to Kathy Byrne at kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org. Park for $13 at 10 East Ontario. Enter on the north side of Ontario between Wabash and State, then take a ticket. When you sign in, you may purchase a four-hour ticket for $13. You will need both tickets to exit the parking structure. Cash only please. Save the Date Don't miss the SAG-AFTRA Senior Radio Players' performance of Stage Door. 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) Thursday, April 23. Claudia Cassidy Theater at the Chicago Cultural Center 77 E. Randolph (at Michigan) Admission is free; however seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
VHS Tapes and Scripts Available at the KMRC The KMRC is preparing for a renovation this year, and part of that project will be to clean out the Schmooze Room and all of the VHS tapes and scripts currently housed there. If you want any scripts or VHS movies that are currently in the KMRC, you have until Thursday, April 30, to claim what you would like. There is a partial list of scripts and tapes in the KMRC. If you are interested in any of these, please stop by the KMRC and grab what you want. There will be an honor jar on the shelf in the Schmooze Room. The KMRC Committee asks that you make a donation to the KMRC of $1 per item. Lake FX Summit + Expo, April 16-19 The Lake FX Summit + Expo presented by Google is the Midwest region's largest free conference for artists, creative professionals and entrepreneurs. With program tracks related to the music, film, fashion, culinary and visual and performing arts industries, this inaugural event, themed improvisation and Innovation, will present professional development opportunities, as well as an expo resource fair and a marketplace open to local artisans. Royal George Theatre Offers Discount to SAG-AFTRA Members See Tony Award-winner Anthony Crivello and Vanessa Stewart as Louis Prima and Keely Smith in Louis & Keely Live at the Sahara at the Royal George Theatre. Individual Artist Program Professional Development Grants The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Cultural Grants Team will open the 2015 application cycle of the Individual Artists Program for Professional Development on April 10. The goal of the IAP program is to discover, nurture and expand Chicago's artists and creative professionals. As part of the program, the professional development grants help artists and creative entrepreneurs develop or deepen artistic, administrative or organizational skills to become more competitive in the creative marketplace. Voice Screenings for Professional Singers* In recognition of World Voice Day, MusiCares and the Chicago Institute for Voice Care are sponsoring free voice screenings. This is an opportunity for professional singers to take action to improve and maintain healthy voice habits. Services include a stroboscopic exam and physician examination to assess vocal health.
