Ohio St. Chicago, IL 60654 Guest Panel: David White, National Executive Director of SAG-AFTRA Alex Pissios, President of Cinespace Chicago Film Studios Moderator: Michael Issac, SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local Board Member Transportation: The entrance to Instituto Cervantes is around the corner from the Red Line's Grand Avenue stop. This meeting is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Unfortunately, no guests allowed. Parents/guardians of younger performers under 18 years old are welcome. SAGAFTRA members, please bring your membership card (paid through Oct. 31, 2016) for admittance.
SAG-AFTRA Health Plan Presentation Online Webinar Live Stream at Chicago Local As you were notified on June 8, the trustees from both the SAG-Producers Health Plan and the AFTRA Health Fund have formally voted to merge the two health plans. The new SAG-AFTRA Health Plan will go into effect Jan. 1, 2017. The new plan will be structured similarly to the current SAG Plan, with two plan options (Plan I and Plan II) that both automatically include family coverage. SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, National Executive Director David White and representatives from the SAG and AFTRA health plans will conduct a webinar presentation on the new SAG-AFTRA Health Plan. Please come out and join fellow members for an opportunity to learn details of the new health plan and get answers to your questions. When: 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 6 Where: SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local 1 E. If you are unable to make the event, you may register to attend online. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. For detailed information on the new plan, visit sagaftrahealth.org. This site will be your primary information portal for the new plan, providing the most up-to-date information available about the new plan's benefits, eligibility, premiums and answers to frequently asked questions. For questions or concerns about your current plan, continue to contact your appropriate provider as usual through the end of 2016. You must RSVP to attend. Space is limited. Seating is first come, first served. This meeting is only open to those with a SAG-AFTRA ID number. Parents/guardians of younger performers under 18 years old are welcome.
Save the Date Don't miss the SAG-AFTRA Senior Radio Players' performances of The Strip Teaser & the Space Warp and The Killers. 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) Thursday, July 14. Claudia Cassidy Theater at the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph St. (at Michigan) Admission is free; however seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The SAG-AFTRA Senior Radio Players have presented live recreations of radio classics for 19 years. Please come out to support them in what will surely be another amazing performance. Join the Movie Club and Theater Club If you are interested in receiving an occasional free sneak preview movie pass, please join the SAG-AFTRA Chicago Movie Club. Send your name and member number to kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org. You must be a SAG-AFTRA Chicago member in good standing to participate. Passes will be sent via email several times a year as they become available. Also, we have relationships with local live theater venues that from time to time will offer members free or discounted tickets to upcoming shows. If you are interested in joining this free club to receive these special offers, please send an email to kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org to be included on the Theater Club list.
Labor in the Pulpit On Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3-5), the Chicago Federation of Labor and Arise Chicago will once again team up for Labor in the Pulpit/On the Bimah/In the Minbar. This is a unique opportunity to highlight the shared values of the labor and faith communities. Chicago Federation of Labor and Arise Chicago are currently recruiting volunteers to speak to congregations throughout the area. You can register to speak to your own congregation, if available, or speak at another place of worship. To volunteer, email Andrea Kluger at akluger@chicagolabor.org. You can also feel free to call Andrea at (312) 906-2434 with any questions or to sign up over the phone. The Chicago Federation of Labor with Arise Chicago launched the first Labor in the Pulpit/On the Bimah/In the Minbar program in 1996, which has since been replicated throughout the U.S. For the past seven years, they've placed speakers in over 100 services throughout the city and suburbs each Labor Day weekend, consistently making Chicago's program the largest in the country.
Vote for Pullman $250,000 Grant The Historic Pullman Foundation and Pullman National Monument have been selected by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to compete with 19 other well-established national parks for a share of $2 million dollars in preservation funding. An amount of $250,000 can be won for restoration work at the Pullman National Monument Visitor Center in Chicago. Click here for details and how you can vote.
