2018 Chicago Local Annual Membership Meeting Join us for our annual membership meeting and discussion panel. Our theme is "Don't Wait: Create." When: Monday, June 18, 2018 Where: Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, 31 W. Ohio St., Chicago, IL What: 5:45 p.m. social hour reception 6:45 p.m. membership meeting and guest panel RSVP to chicago@sagaftra.org with subject line "Membership Meeting." SAG-AFTRA Conservatory - Monday, June 4 from 6 - 9 p.m. Voiceover for Beginners Are you interested in starting a career in voiceover or getting back into it after a hiatus and want to see what has changed in the business while you were away? Join us for a panel discussion about the state of the business, how to put together


a demo tape, what clients are listening for in the booth, and some VO tricks of the trade. This event will consist of a panel (Debby Kotzen from Naked Voices Talent Agency, SAG-AFTRA Vice President, Mid-Sized Locals Ilyssa Fradin and more TBA) from 6 - 8 p.m., then an interactive session from 8 - 9 p.m. with VO coach Deb Doetzer. RSVP to kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org Park at 10 East Ontario. Enter on the north side of Ontario between Wabash and State, and then take a ticket. When you sign in, you may purchase a four-hour ticket for $13 cash, $14 Visa, MasterCard or American Express payment. You will need both tickets to exit the parking structure. Managing a Life in the Biz: Career Strategies for Industry Professionals For most people in creative arts and entertainment, work is episodic. "Survival work," taken on to make ends meet, can be draining and distract you from leading your best creative life. In this workshop, Managing a Life in the Biz: Career Strategies for Industry Professionals, you'll learn how you can find "survival work" that suits your values, uses your preferred skills and complements your life in the biz. SAG-AFTRA Table Read Series The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local will launch the next chapter in its table read series At the Table on June 25 at the KMRC, with a reading of Plain Jane, a script by Keely Wise. If you are interested in submitting for a role, please email kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org, and she will send you the character breakdown and submission information. Submission deadline is June 1. If you previously submitted to be included in the database for this program, you should have received the information by now. This event is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Editing on The Go: The Punch-and-Roll Method Wednesday, June 6, 6 - 9 p.m. Kaufherr Members Resource Center (KMRC) 1 East Erie, Suite 660 Chicago, IL 60611 Joe Wright, Audiobook Committee member and audiobook producer/engineer will be sharing his tips and tools for successful managing of punch-and-roll techniques. If you have a digital audio workstation and a free space that can be lined with acoustic soundproofing material, then this seminar is for you. Learn how to be your own audiobook producer. This seminar is not only limited to audiobook narrators but also anyone who wants to record their voice for voiceover auditions.
