All major credit cards are accepted in USA. If you do decide to carry a credit card make sure you do the following • • • • •
The card needs to have a limit which is on the lower side- may be 40-50 thousand rupees Carry the required details & have the hotline number handy for any cancellations or blockages in the case that you lose the card. Please ensure that the associated telephone number registered with the bank is active through the travel period Please note down the credit card information and store it at home before you leave. The USA is a melting pot of various cultures. At all points of time, please make sure that you are culturally sensitive and also take this opportunity to learn more about their culture. Tap water is safe for consumption. Bottled water is plentiful and generally served in restaurants, although some will serve tap water if requested. In the United States, little business is conducted on weekends. Usually, the working week is Monday to Friday, 8:30 / 9:00am to 5:00/ 6:00 pm. Punctuality is of utmost importance throughout the program. Please make sure you are at least 10 minutes early that the scheduled time for all points in the agenda. The culture of tipping is very prevalent in the US. To express satisfaction with any service, usually a tip of about 10-20% of the total bill may be given. It is not customary to tip in fast food restaurants. At the end of your trip, it is also customary to tip the guides and the drivers. Please maintain silence while you are visiting museums & guided programs. It is considered disrespectful to speak in museums, guided programs & during theatre performances.
