NEW IN-PERSON AND ONLINE COURSES!
INVESTIGATE NEW IDEAS. EXCEED BOUNDARIES. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago invites you to be part of our diverse community of artists, designers, and scholars by enrolling in an Adult Continuing Education (ACE) noncredit course (or two), or one of our exciting certificate programs. As a member of our community, one defined by practice and inquiry, you will cultivate creative confidence, learning with and from your instructors and peers as you produce work based on your personal research, goals and interests. With multiple delivery formats available, there’s something for everyone. Courses are offered in 5- and 10-week sessions, as well as 1-week and 2-weekend intensives. This fall’s schedule also includes a new Saturday portfolio preparation workshop for both emerging and established artists.
CHOOSE TO LEARN ONLINE OR IN PERSON “It was very enjoyable dedicating time towards artmaking at SAIC. The content of this class was absolutely fantastic and I have learned so much from [my instructor] in just a short time that I will use in my art forever. ” —ACE Student, Artist and the Sketchbook, 2021

This fall and winter you can select to take courses in-person at our campus in Chicago’s Loop, or you can enjoy the flexibility and convenience of learning online from wherever you are. Students from around the world and right here in Chicago are joining us for online courses taught by our acclaimed faculty. The majority of our online classes meet in real time through dynamic video conference sessions, which include demonstrations and lectures, group discussion and critiques with peers, and one-on-one time with our exceptional instructors. In-person courses will take place on SAIC’s campus, giving you access to a vast array of creative resources, as well as face-to-face learning experiences with faculty members and fellow students. All in-person courses will follow health and safety guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Chicago Department of Public Health to ensure proper social distancing. Please note, SAIC will require proof of a COVID-19 vaccine for all in-person Adult Continuing Education students.
“The instructor worked incredibly hard to make effective use of class time, push us to challenge ourselves and offer content in a wide range of design disciplines. The in-class activities and assignments were carefully selected to help us build a design vocabulary, understand its applications, and then begin defining ourselves as designers. Students also received sincere, thoughtful and frequent feedback.” —ACE Student, Design Matters, 2021
