Our camps are designed to expand young artists’ minds while allowing them to focus on their specific areas of interest. We offer fun and exciting subject options not available anywhere else in Chicago as well as exploration of our museum — the Art Institute of Chicago.

With an emphasis on material explorations, problem-solving, and museum exposure, individual and group projects incorporate a variety of materials and methods including drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, and mixed media. Camps are grouped by ages and campers work together on a variety of fun projects and experience the joys of making art with old and new friends.

We are excited to offer 1-week and 2-week sessions throughout the summer.
Nurturing creative potential is crucial to preparing children for life. At the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), the nation’s premier art and design school, we understand that self-expression, out-of-the-box thinking, and cultural awareness flourish when kids make art. At SAIC, children learn to explore, imagine, and discover while we guide them on a path to becoming the creators, innovators, and problem-solvers of the future. Summer Camps at SAIC Provide: • Inspiration-building visits to our museum, the Art Institute of Chicago • Individualized attention from outstanding instructors with a 1:8 adult to child ratio • Projects that integrate meaning and making, a hallmark of our degree programs’ acclaimed curriculum • Access to SAIC’s state-of-the-art classroom and studio facilities.

Morning camps (AM) meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Afternoon camps (PM) meet Monday through Friday from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Ages 6–9 can do both for a full day camp. (Morning and afternoon sessions have different focuses so full day students will encounter new projects in the afternoon session). Family Camp
Family members work together or side by side to create visual art projects. Recommended ages are 4-10 and children must be accompanied by a registered, paying adult. All campers participate in both museum visits and studio activities.

Refund Policy Withdrawal requests made before May 10, 2019 will receive a 100% tuition refund. A $100 cancellation fee will be applied to participants who withdraw after the May 10 deadline but before the class meets for the second time. All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to cs@saic.edu and include the student’s name, ID number, and course information. Please visit saic.edu/cs for our full refund policy.
Cancellation and Schedule Changes For CW and MSP Continuing Studies reserves the right to cancel or alter the fees, schedule, or staffing of courses when circumstances warrant. If a cancellation or change is necessary, students will be notified prior to the first class, and students enrolled in cancelled courses will have the option of taking another class or receiving a full refund.
