Comprehensive pipe systems

Waste water and rainwater drainage systems are like the arteries of buildings, calling for strong and long lasting material, so that their lifespan is at least the same as the buildings expected life. Watertight, non combustible and silent in operation PAM cast iron allows specifiers to design safe and reliable drainage systems. Combining unrivalled longevity and minimal maintenance, PAM cast iron spigot systems are definitely the first choice to maintain a sustainable and comfortable environment as required in your building projects.

Products characteristics Saint-Gobain PAM utilises state-of-the-art equipment and analysis techniques for process performance. Continual investment in technology and on going programme of product development aim at providing users with optimal safety, reliability and long service life.

Quality products with outstanding mechanical properties.

Quality products with outstanding mechanical properties.

To avoid premature replacement or costly repairs, the choice of drainage material should be carefully considered. Cast iron outperforms all plastics mechanical properties. PAM cast iron pipes are manufactured using a De Lavaud spinning process. After the pipes are spun, they undergo a specific heat treatment. This process gives a finer solidification matrix and a more homogeneous metallurgical structure than any other. PAM cast iron pipes show greater resistance to impacts and crushing, easier machining and cutting. This means the PAM products are easier to install on job sites.

Owing to their mechanical stability, it is generally accepted that the service life of the PAM cast iron pipe systems will last in excess of the lifetime of the building.

Complete, modular product ranges PAM cast iron pipe systems for drainage mainly consist of spigot pipes (generally in 3 m length), fittings of various shapes and stainless steel mechanical couplings. The PAM systems are easy to install at work progress and designed to build consistent network.

Coatings performance Chemical resistance and lifespan of cast iron products are ensured through epoxy coatings performance.

The PAM epoxy coatings are tested to withstand stresses far in excess of standards requirements:

The fitness for purpose of the PAM ranges is periodically assessed and their epoxy coatings continuously adapted and improved to address the worsening of the stresses they have to face. The basic principle is to have all the components of a pipe system provide the same level of performance reported to specific fields of use.

Resistance to salt spray test: 1 500 hours Hot water resistance: 24 H at 95°C Thermal cycling test: (1 500 cycles of 1 min each between 15°C and 93°C. After the cycling, the coatings showed no rusting (RI0) and no blistering (0-0). The thermal cycles test is the best indicator for the quality of a coating because the closest to the usual use conditions for soil and drain products working under cycles. Chemical resistance: 2 > pH > 12 at 23°C For clearer guidance, extra tests were carried out on common detergents products or special products up to 70°C, where relevant. These tests assessed the coatings are perfectly fit for their field of use.

Compliance to standards and fire safety PAM cast iron pipe systems comply with: International Standard ISO 6594 and European Standard EN 877, the most demanding for cast iron drainage systems. Reaction to fire alone was retained as major safety criterion for drainage systems. Third party validated test results are the precondition for them to get CE marking and be allowed pass through EEE.

For complete ranges – pipes, fittings, couplings and accessories SAINT-GOBAIN PAM has obtained the excellent EUROCLASS ranking: A2, s1-d0, now mentioned on the products. EUROCLASS being based on test methods and a classification harmonised throughout Europe, the scoring can be used to compare materials and product performances.

Date of manufacture

According to standard EN 877, pipes, fittings and accessories as well as the couplings or clamping components and the gaskets shall be legibly and indelibly marked and shall bear at least the following information: • the manufacturer’s name or mark

• the DN, or DNs where applicable

• the identification of the production site

• the design angle of fittings

• the period of manufacturing, coded or not

• the identification of the accredited third party where applicable

• the reference to this European standard

In the case of pipes the above markings shall be applied at least once per metre length.

Fittings The identification marking for fittings is a label. PAM-SMU® S EN 877 = In conformity with Standards CE Marking = A2 -s1, d0

Couplings and grip collars PAM RAPID NG couplings • New PAM design, unbeatable performance • DN50 to 300 The PAM Rapid NG coupling, single bolt, allows fast and reliable installation. SAINT GOBAIN PAM new design ensures optimized water-tightness and pressure resistance and a better than ever corrosion resistance.

Standard version W2 technical specifications: • Strap, clamps: 1.4510 /11 (AISI 430Ti / 439) • Screw: coated steel class 8.8 • Nut: coated steel class 8 All stainless steel version W5 technical specifications: • Strap, clamps: 1.4404 / 1.4571 (AISI 316 L/316Ti) • Screw and nut: austenitic stainless steel A4-70 or AISI 316 The PAM Rapid NG is designed for a full tightening “nul gap”, there is no need for checking the torque.

Special design for DN 250 and 300 Tightening torque: 25 N.m

PAM GRIP COLLAR • New PAM design, and outstanding pressure resistance • DN50 to 300 The requirements for grip collars are very high for mechanical strength and pressure resistance. Designed by SAINT GOBAIN PAM, the PAM grip collar combines outstanding mechanical performances and very good pressure resistance same as those of the PAM designed couplings.

Combined pressure resistance is: DN 50-125: 10 bar DN 150 -200: 5 bar DN 250 -300: 3 bar

DN250 and 300 grip collars are designed with 4 window apertures instead of 2.
