Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Today as we celebrate the gift of the Body and Blood of Christ let us pray for those who are hungry, malnourished and starving. Is there a family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that together we can help those who are hungry.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference is able to help our neighbors in need through the generosity of our St. Mary’s parishioners. Each time you donate, either through the collection slots at the doors of the church, or in an envelope marked for St. Vincent de Paul, you are helping our neighbors within St. Mary’s Parish. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, contact the St. Vincent de Paul Society at 516-627-0385, ext. 1125, or email SVDP@stmary.ws. To donate furniture, clothing or household items, please call the store in Garden City Park at 516-746-8250. Thank you for your continued support.

About Emily Hanlon:

Having converted late in life after watching the joy that faith brought to her husband and three sons, she, like her sleuths in the Martha and Marya mysteries, now goes to daily Mass, is a eucharistic minister, and is active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Through her books, Emily shares her love of the church and of a good “whodunit.”

Northern Boulevard Church Entrance Closed

As you know, the slate walkway in front of the church has been cracking and parishioners have generously offered to pay for new pavers. The work is in progress and therefore the entrance to the church from Northern Boulevard must be kept closed during construction. The statue of our Lady has been moved closer to Northern Boulevard, so that it could be seen by people passing by the church. The work should be completed by the end of next week. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

1 Corinthians 10: 16-17. “Brothers and Sisters, the cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ the bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.” Let us all eat the living bread that comes down from heaven and we shall have eternal life.
