The Schools of Saint Mary 70th Commencement Exercises for St. Mary’s High School

On Wednesday, May 31, St. Mary’s College Preparatory High School celebrated its 70th Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2023 with pomp and circumstance.

OnWednesday, May 31, 2023, the Saint Mary’s High School Class of 2023 gathered on Denihan Field with family and friends for the 70th commencement exercises. The academic processional included the graduates, faculty, clergy, and administrators. Ms. Leah Brown, assistant principal, was the master of ceremonies. Rev. Fr. Dominik Wegiel, who serves as the school chaplain, gave the invocation, and the guests then directed their attention to the American flag as soloist Miss Kristen Casesa ’23 sang a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Miss Elizabeth Teleisha (Kenyon College) was invited forward to present her well-thought Salutatory address. Principal Gerard J. Buckley gave his remarks, and the presentation of diplomas by the pastor of the Church of St. Mary, Rev. Fr. Robert A. Romeo, followed. Mr. Dan Galea (Georgia Tech) delivered his inspirational Salutatorian speech and received accolades from his fellow graduates and guests.

A total of 14 academic awards were presented from across all subject areas. Principal Buckley announced four additional recipients of prestigious awards based on votes received by the student body recognizing leadership, success in studies, school spirit, generosity, and selfless service.
