From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Parishioners,
“Keep your eyes open, for you know not the day or the hour.” (Matthew 25:13) These last weeks of our Liturgical Year before the beginning of Advent prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of the Lord in glory. The focus becomes, as scary as it is, the end of time and the judgment of each of our lives. In today’s parable of the ten virgins, five wise virgins had oil; the five foolish virgins no longer had oil in their lamps. This parable is about preparedness for when the Bridegroom (the Lord) returns for His Bride and wedding party (His people). It stresses the necessity of spiritual perseverance. The oil represents true faith or current faith, a right relationship with God, and the Holy Spirit. So when the foolish ones heard at midnight (not a convenient hour) that the Bridegroom was on his way, they had to go out somewhere and find some oil to buy for their lamps. When they returned, it was too late…the door was shut. The foolish ones failed to recognize that the returning Lord would come at an unexpected time. They simply were not ready. Some may say the foolish ones could be compared to those who have not made that definite decision to live for the Lord or others may say it seems that all the virgins were ready at one time, but the foolish ones became lazy and careless and that’s why they no longer had oil. But either way, the lesson is that they were not prepared; they were not in right relationship with the Lord. They were caught off guard and were denied to enter in. The Lord warns us many times to “Be ready.” He says in Luke 18:8, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Time will run out for each of us one day. Don’t be caught off guard and unprepared. Pave your way now with a heart, mind, and soul aligned to God before your time runs out. Eternal Life depends on it. Besides, aligning yourself with God now will result in your most fulfilled life, so go for it! In His timing, we’re often called to wait. Don’t let the waiting time lull you into a false sense of having endless time. Don’t be fooled that you can wait and still be prepared when it matters, because you don’t know when that time will be. We must prepare our hearts and souls for the long haul. That includes developing a personal relationship with the Lord, discerning His will for our lives, leading where He follows, and loving one another. None of these things can happen the moment we realize our time on earth is ending. Lead your life as if the end is today, but be prepared to wait. We can choose to live our lives any way we wish. If we choose to turn our backs on God, He lets us, even through His disappointment. If we turn to Him, He welcomes us with open arms. God gives us every opportunity to come to Him. Your salvation is His greatest wisdom. The time is now, my dear brothers and sisters. In Jesus, Fr. Bob

Stewards of God’s Gifts In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable to remind us to stay vigilant and always prepared for the coming of the Lord. Living Stewardship ~ Pillar of Formation: The foolish virgins in the parable were not prepared for the coming of the bridegroom. By the time the bridegroom arrived, they were away buying oil. Let us be like the wise virgins and be prepared for the Lord when He comes. We do this by having a consistent prayer life, attending weekly Mass, and making regular trips to confession.

Respect Life Ministry Please Join St. Mary’s Respect Life Ministry as We Pray
One Thousand Hail Mary’s
for Peace in the Holy Land, in our country, and around the world
Saturday, December 9th Following the 9:00 AM Mass, until mid-afternoon, in the side Chapel Our Blessed Mother has promised that with prayer, there can be peace in the world. Please join us, if only for a few minutes!
Each life is precious. As Catholics, we know something many of our brothers and sisters in the Middle East do not know: the power of Our Lady’s intercession for peace, in particular through the Rosary. With so many lives lost, countless lives in turmoil, and atrocities committed against babies and people of all ages in the Holy Land, we ask that you pray particularly for peace. St. Mary’s Respect Life Ministry asks will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at 7:00 PM, in the St. John Paul II Room of the Parish Center. Newcomers welcome! Please consider joining us — and bring friends and family. Very often a simple invitation is enough to encourage someone to participate. We will discuss ways we can follow and implement for St. Mary’s the three important steps outlined by Bishop Barres: (1) stay informed and educated, (2) get involved, and (3) PRAY! St. Mary’s Respect Life Ministry encourages you to share in our pro-life efforts — your help is needed now more than ever! Religious Education Dear St. Mary’s Family, The love of God that the Holy Spirit puts in our hearts was especially made visible at Mass in the welcoming of little “saints” into the Church of St. Mary. Among them were our Blessed Mother Mary, St. Rosalina, St. Joan of Arc, the beloved apostle St. John, St. Francis and other members of the Church Triumphant. Seeing the children on the altar inspired a beautiful reminder that we belong to God, and are members of a great community of saints. Thank you to all the parents, children and Catechists who participated in this most special day. Spiritual goods given by the Holy Spirit were also seen in the blessed communion of the children, again uniting after Mass in joy and friendship. Our busy week also included the blessing of catechetical instruction led by Fr. Eddy. We are so grateful for the time he devotes to our student community. That, in all things, God may be glorified, Mrs. Granieri

Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Pope Francis’ Homily Closing the 2023 Synod on Synodality: An Excerpt on Adoration In his homily closing the first session of the Synod on Synodality, Pope Francis reflected on two verbs: “to adore and to serve. We love God through adoration and service.” “And let us return to worship. May worship be central for those of us who are pastors: let us devote time every day to intimacy with Jesus the Good Shepherd, adoring him in the tabernacle. May the Church adore: in every diocese, in every parish, in every community, let us adore the Lord! Only in this way will we turn to Jesus and not to ourselves. For only through silent adoration will the Word of God live in our words; only in his presence will we be purified, transformed and renewed by the fire of his Spirit. Brothers and sisters, let us adore the Lord Jesus!”
A Prayer for Peace in Our Troubled World Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. - Saint Francis of Assisi

What is a Knights of Columbus Family?
Working on the Margins
We are Catholic families building a bridge to our faith. Our lives, time, efforts, and resources are dedicated to these values: Charity. Unity. Fraternity. Patriotism. We come from different places, backgrounds, and all stages of life. But the common thread is our Catholic faith. We are Catholic families seeking to improve ourselves and the world. It’s one thing to say who you are. It’s another thing is to live it. Put your values into practice. Become a Knights of Columbus family.
