Dear Parents, Alumni, and Friends,
I am delighted to share this Annual Report for the 2017-2018 school year. On the following pages you will witness the incredible generosity of the parents of our schools and our alumni, in addition to many grandparents, parents of alumni, and faculty and staff who support our mission. I am so grateful to Our Lord for the abundance of gifts he has bestowed upon me as Pastor and for the blessing of so many in our community who support us with their time, talent, and treasure.
Our parents and alumni share their gifts with The Schools of Saint Mary in many different ways. They volunteer on parent committees, host special friend- and fund-raising events, and offer their thoughtful guidance as members of our school and alumni boards. Alumni share their talents by coming to campus to speak to students about their career experiences, participate on panel discussions to offer guidance to students, and work with high school students to improve their interview skills. Finally, our parents, alumni, and friends share their financial resources with our students by giving to the Annual Fund, coming to special fundraising events, and establishing and supporting student scholarships. In whatever way you choose to support The Schools of Saint Mary, know that your gifts directly benefit our students and are tremendously impactful to our mission.
With your continued support and prayers and with the hard work of our faculty, staff, and administration, The Schools of Saint Mary will continue to thrive in our mission to provide a superior educational program with a foundation based in the teachings of our Roman Catholic faith.

President’s Message
Dear Parents, Alumni, and Friends,
I’m delighted to present the Schools of St. Mary Annual Report for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2018. Our report details the financial side of our schools, something vitally important for every institution. But behind the simple numbers you will find a world of vibrant development where students flourish intellectually, socially and morally. From their earliest years, each person is encouraged and coached to reach for the highest potential of their humanity. Allow me to briefly sketch a few details of that world.
This year we are taking steps to grow our academic rigor in multiple subjects, while offering new opportunities for our younger elementary school students to go farther faster. Advanced Placement enrollments are up and the depth of academic courses offered continues to increase. The steady work of our students continues to bear fruit with recent admissions to Princeton, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Carnegie-Mellon, Michigan, Notre Dame, and many others.
This past autumn, the Schools of St. Mary hosted the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal for a visit. These consecrated young women are based in New York City, and have devoted their whole lives to the service of Christ and his poor. Our young men and women of St. Mary’s were completely taken with their cheerfulness and piety. Their happiness and love for life was contagious. They joined the students for prayer before the Blessed Sacrament to finish the day.
Each year, our young people, in both elementary and high school, hone their dramatic and musical talents in plays and musical performances. Recent productions include The Music Man, South Pacific, and a musical medley highlighting a variety of styles. At Christmastime, the high school chorus joined alums and elementary school students to sing carols in St. Mary’s church, providing the Schools’ community with seasonal cheer.
St. Mary’s school spirit was evident at homecoming in October, as the elementary school & high school soccer teams hosted games, and parent volunteers hosted a barbecue for all of the athletes & excited fans in the stands. You could sense the school pride throughout our St. Mary’s community.
This fall I attended alumni reunions for classes ranging over many decades and the sense of sincere gratitude was palpable. Numerous alums spoke of lives well-prepared for and achievements made possible by the encouragement they received at the Schools of St. Mary. At St. Mary’s that’s what we’ve always been about: we’re a preparatory school after all. We prepare young people for a life well-lived, a life of happiness despite challenges, a life of personal freedom employed in the service of God and others.
Your generosity is the greatest investment you can make, an investment in the eternal. At the Schools of St. Mary, we are building for that. We remain so grateful to you for your support -- for now, and for the future.

Annual Review of Gifts and Benefactors
The Annual Fund is a critical source of unrestricted funds that meets the most immediate and critical needs facing The Schools of Saint Mary. The funds are alway used in the fiscal year in which they are given, so donors are assured that their generosity has been put to immediate use.

On Thursday, November 9, 2017, our Elementary School and High School parents combined their efforts to undertake a joint Ladies’ Night Out event at North Hempstead Country Club. This collective effort celebrated our Nursery - 12th grade program. The hard work and generosity of so many parents and supporters ensured a wonderful evening and the proceeds directly benefited the children of Saint Mary’s.
