I am Ayodele Ojo, the

Project Director at Miss Commonwealth Organization, UK. I am responsible for leading and implementing business development strategies and plan for the Miss Commonwealth organization. My role also involves identifying new opportunities and channels by extending the reach of Miss Commonwealth brand to increase its socio-cultural and charitable success around the world. I achieve this by working closely with the CEO/Managing Director, Dr Shola Fawehinmi, Team Commonwealth in UK and Miss Commonwealth National Directors within Commonwealth countries. I ensure that working together by their respective national cultural charity queens and ambassadors, Commonwealth nations in Africa, Asia-Pacific, EuroAtlantic and the Caribbean employ the Commonwealth International Cultural and Charity Evening TV-Special Showcase (CICCETSS) as a platform for the celebration of cultural diversity and promotion of the engagement of people from all cultural backgrounds in the pursuit of the common values of promoting the Quality-of-Life Improvement.

C. M. What are the difficulties of staging the event especially with the global Covid-19? M.C. The Miss Commonwealth event was suspended in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and had to be rescheduled for this year 2021. The great uncertainties of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 obviously made forward planning of the future event close to impossible. The show is fundamentally and largely interactive with close contacts and less social distance because guests and Pageants normally mingle during the event. This is in contrast to Covid-19 because the virus is easily contactable and could easily spread through closed contacts. Therefor Miss Commonwealth met and decided that it was not in the best interest of the all stakeholders and general public to host the event in 2020. This year’s event being held today Saturday 21st August 2012 at this prestigious Ambassador Bloomsbury Hotel is the 19th edition after the lockdown was relaxed by government in June 2020. C.M. ACTRESS NAYA RIVERA REMEMBER ON FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY Thursday 8th of July, 2021 marks the one-year anniversary of Rivera's tragic death, which occurred after she went missing following a boat ride with her then-4-year-old son, Josey, on California's Lake Piru. Her body was recovered five days later. A number of her close co-stars took to social media to remember Rivera. Naya Marie Rivera was an American actress, singer and model. She began her career as a child actress and model, first appearing in national television. On July 8, 2020, American

actress and singer Naya Rivera was declared missing after she failed to return from a boating excursion on Lake Piru near her home in California. Shortly afterwards, her rented boat with her 4-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, was located. Dorsey was unharmed. A search conducted by various authorities in southern California began, though Rivera was formally presumed dead the next day; the search lasted until the morning of July 13, 2020, when her body was recovered and she was pronounced dead from drowning at the age of 33. The death was ruled accidental,

with the investigation determining Rivera exhausted herself saving her son's life in the water. In November 2020, Rivera's ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, and estate brought wrongful death lawsuits. The public manner of the search and Rivera's celebrity contributed to extensive media attention on developments before and after she was found; additionally, Rivera had been a series regular on the popular television series Glee, and was the third of such actors to die young. Her body was found on the anniversary of the death of co-star and friend Cory Monteith in 2013. Following her death, authorities banned swimming in Lake Piru. Prior to Rivera, several people

had drowned in the reservoir. Her ex-fiancé, rapper Big Sean, also faced public backlash based on comments he made and music he released in the aftermath of her death. Josey, Rivera's son with her former husband, actor Ryan Dorsey, was found sleeping and alone on the drifting boat later that afternoon. Five days later, her body was found floating in an area of the lake that is about 30 feet deep. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office said she was most likely trapped in thick vegetation underwater for several days before floating to the top. Josey was immediately reunited with his father and other relatives.

“The book brings hope and heals those who are currently experiencing what I’ve been through.” Loading... Her book will liberate many

barren women from feeling less of a woman. “Widows will, without a doubt, relate and gain strength from my book,” said Unathi. She said since her husband’s death, it’s been hard for her to move on. Unathi said on the day she tossed

a handful of soil on Nkomfa’s coffin, a part of her remained there. “I couldn’t think beyond the funeral service. I was numb, lost and hurt. I felt rejected and unloved. I wished I had been buried with him.” She said friends and family supported her.

“But the void was too large. I shed a lot of weight. I couldn’t eat. I cried constantly and would sit in front of the TV for hours on end. I shut out a lot of people who tried to reach out to me. There were days I found myself angry with Nkomfa for leaving me.” Cape Town pastor and awardwinning gospel star Reverend Deon Nkomfa Mkabile died a broken man. Tributes continued to pour in this week following the untimely passing of the popular pastor and politician on Wednesday.

Sunday World can reveal that Mkabile fought a weight battle that ultimately led to a heart disease that he succumbed to. He was 48. Mkabile, the founder of Bethel International Ministries, died a month after he was dismissed as councillor for the Drakenstein municipality and member of the ANC. He later joined the African Transformation Movement Party. Unathi had been at his bedside ever since he was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago. She was too distraught to speak when Sunday World visited the couple's home in the Montclaire, Cape Town, this week.

"He took his calling as a reverend very seriously and was devoted to his church. At the time of his passing, he had very big plans of growing his church beyond Cape Town.

As the chief mourner, she sat on a mattress wearing a black doek,

"We have lost a humble man of God," said Niekerk.

KIM KARDASHIAN SET TO DOCUMENT $1.9 BILLION DIVORCE FROM KANYE WEST. The Keeping Up with the Kardashian star has had camera following her in the final nine months of her marriage to the rapper. Kim Kardashian could document her $1.9 billion divorce from Kanye West in not just one, but two reality series. The Keeping Up with the Kardashian star has already filmed the 20th and final series of the lucrative E! reality series with filming wrapping in January around the time the first reports of her impending divorce

emerged. US sources have said Kanye who has appeared in the show since 2013, but not as of its main stars - is "very unlikely" to feature in any upcoming scenes. Later this year, once the Kardashian family end their long-standing relationship with network E! the sisters and matriarch Kris will move to Disney's Hulu channel, where their new series will air at the end of this year. Details of what programme are

included in the family's $90m deal are yet to be confirmed, but while announcing the new partnership, Walt Disney TV Chairman Dana Waiden noted the appeal of unscripted reality series. Recently Kim filed papers asking for a divorce from her husband of almost seven years Kanye at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, asking for joint custody of their four children; daughters North, 7 and Chicago, 2; and son Saint, 5 and Psalm, 19 months. However, their settlement could include a gagging court order which prevents the pair divulging

intimate details of the divorce itself - either in reality TV, in music on in interviews. US sources have insisted her split from Kanye will be amicable with one reported as saying: "This will be a fairly straightforward and hopefully quick process." The couple, who signed a prenuptial agreement, assets include £74million worth of properties. An insider said: "it's very sad, although they have struggled now for several months. "They tried to make it work but it just wasn't to be. They have grown apart.

Kim has hired Jonny Depp's divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser who also represented her during her second divorce from basketball player Kris Humpries. The pair split 72 days after they celebrated their nuptials with a 7million wedding in 2011. Kim eloped to Los Vegas with music produced Damon Thomas in 2000, when she was just 19. Her first marriage ended after four years. It comes after a tumultuous year

for the pair, after Kanye - who has bipolar disorder - launched a bid to run for US president, publicly backed by Kim. He also appeared distressed on several occasions while discussing a potential divorce from Kim, and criticized her family's behavior. Kim later spoke out in defense of her "brilliant but complicated" husband and asked for the public to "give grace" towards his mental health.

WOMAN SAYS R. KELLY MADE HER HAD SEX WITH SOMEONE ELSE AS PUNISHMENT. Prosecutors Fighting R. Kelly Over His Plea for Release from Jail, Argue Disgraced Singer Is a Flight Risk Robert Sylvester Kelly is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Kelly has been credited with helping to redefine R&B and hip hop, earning nicknames such as "the King of R&B", "the King of Pop-Soul", and the "Pied Piper of R&B". She had broken one of R. Kelly’s rules, and as her punishment, the singer directed her to freshen up at a hotel, “put on something

skimpy” and have sex with someone he called “Nephew,” the woman told jurors on Tuesday, her second day of testimony at Mr. Kelly’s trial. Testifying for the prosecution, the woman known as Jane Doe No. 5 in Kelly's indictment said the singer regularly checked her cellphone to make sure she did not gossip to friends about their relationship, which began in 2015 when she was 17. She also said Kelly "chastised" her for disobedience, including by spanking her hard enough to

leave bruises and tear her skin. R Kelly was a “predator” who used his fame to abuse women, girls and boys, a court in New York has heard as the criminal case against the R&B musician opened. Kelly was back in court to hear the opening statements in his long-anticipated federal trial arising from years of allegations. He has denied the charges. As the case opened, assistant US attorney Maria Cruz Melendez said: “This case is about a predator.” Explaining the evidence to be given at the trial, MS Melendez alleged that Kelly, 54, used his fame to abuse others. “What his

success and popularity brought him was access, access to girls, boys and young women,” she said. “This case is not about a celebrity who likes to party a lot.” Prosecutors seem set to allege that Kelly and his entourage – which has been described in court documents as an “enterprise” – organized for his alleged victims to travel across state lines to meet him in violation of federal law. Lawyers for Kelly meanwhile characterized his accusers in legal documents as “disgruntled groupies” who wanted the attention of the R&B singer, and only revealed their allegations years later.

According to reports from inside the courtroom, his lawyers said he and his accusers – identified in court as “Jane Does” – “all became like a family” and “when the relationships went sour ... these individuals became angry, resentful and even spiteful”. Kelly’s lawyer, Nicole Blank Becker, went on to say the allegations against her client were a “mess of lies” and that there were a number of “untruths”. Kelly denies claims that he sexually abused and exploited women, girls, and at least one boy during the height of his

fame, as well as charges of bribery, racketeering and coercion. More than a decade has passed since Kelly was acquitted in a 2008 child pornography case in Chicago. However, many of the women allegedly abused by him came forward in the Lifetime documentary Surviving R Kelly. The series explored how an entourage of supporters protected Kelly and silenced his alleged victims for decades, foreshadowing a federal racketeering conspiracy case that landed Kelly in jail in 2019.
