GOLF AT HALF MOON

Our Golf Course

Designed by world-renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., our golf course opened in 1962 and was later modernised by Roger Rulewich, who removed non-native trees, expanded several greens, and renovated bunkers, creating a masterpiece of sheer beauty and game-raising challenges. Routed through a retired sugarcane estate, the course hugs the toe of the hills overlooking Half Moon.

It is a bowtie, classic layout with multiple sets of tees, well-bunkered greens contoured to accommodate surface drainage, and has an overall length ranging from 5,035 to 7,120 yards. A beautiful walking course, this 18-hole par-72 championship course tests scratch and novice golfers alike from appropriate distances.

Primary defence of par are the 26 shallow-faced fairway bunkers requiring solidly struck tee balls to find the short grass. Constant trade winds blowing off the Caribbean Sea create up-wind challenges and down-wind opportunities.

Half Moon withstands the test of time, remaining true to its origins in length and intent, permitting golfers to chase par and history between the palms at Half Moon. Just four minutes away from our golf course are the White Witch and Cinnamon Hill golf courses, making Half Moon a golf destination.

Golf Academy

Our golf academy pros tailor lessons to your specific goals and level of play. Kids or adults, beginners or experienced golfers are welcome. We offer complimentary clinics, as well as half-day, two-day, and three-day schools that cover short game and full swing using Foresight Quad Launch Monitor technology. Individual instruction is also available.

About Kevyn Cunningham

Kevyn is highly skilled as both an instructor and as a pro – a rare combination. An elite instructor, he helps new golfers as well as tour players, with the ability to tend to the needs of a wide spectrum of skills.

Born in Bedford, England, Kevyn has more than 30 years of experience in the golf industry. He played successfully as an amateur before turning Professional and studying under the legendary Eddie Bullock, a former Captain of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA).

At an early stage in his career, Kevyn took up the position of Head Professional at Velden Golf Club in Austria before moving to eastern Austria in 1991 as Head Professional at Bad Tatzmandorf Golf Club. It was at this time that Kevyn started his career with The David Leadbetter Golf Academies, quickly rising through the ranks to become Director of Instruction at several Academies. His time with the Leadbetter Organisation took him to Berlin, New York, Korea, Colorado, Mexico, Austria, and Orlando, among other places. Based in Jamaica since 1997, Kevyn headed The Leadbetter Academy at Half Moon in the late nineties before returning to the resort in August 2019 to assume the role of Director of Golf. His knowledge of the resort and understanding of Caribbean golf made this a perfect fit for both Half Moon and Kevyn as he focuses on expanding the teaching programme.

Our guest instructor series offers the best golf instruction with notable golfers such as David Leadbetter, Nick Starchuck, Brian Mogg, James Ridyard, Gary Gilchrist, and Mike Manavian. The series features options for beginners and seasoned golfers. Whether you are just getting started or trying to lower your handicap, we curate experiences to help you with achieving your goals.

The Founders Cup
