Does your old sand filled synthetic bowling green not drain like it used to?? KCL Sports & Green Planet Grass have the solution. KCL Sports & Green Planet Grass now have a custom-made solution for your drainage woes. The OPM is a one day per green rectification process with minimal green downtime.

The Problem: Overtime, algae, pollution, degraded yarn and other substances find their way into the drainage holes of the synthetic grass. This causes a gradual reduction in the drainage performance of your green. As these particles have found their way to the very base of the synthetic grass, it’s very difficult to access the area to remove them. The Solution: Our process creates new clear holes in the surface with no impact on the bowling performance of your green. The new perforations are done in a similar configuration to the original factory perforations, with the advantage that new holes are introduced in the seam area (which is not originally perforated at the factory to prevent adhesive coming through to the surface during installation). Not only will this solve your drainage problems, it may extend the life of your green by several years. The Machine: Our custom-built machine runs 6 high-speed routers and is selfpropelled to ensure a consistent spacing of perforations.

For more information go to www.kclsport.com.au and, from the Services page, you can see a short video of the OPM in action.

I WAS AT THE CLUB YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WHEN WE HAD A DOWNPOUR OF ABOUT 15MM IN 30 MINUTES. I AM SURE YOU WILL BE AS DELIGHTED AS WE ARE THAT GREENS 1 & 2 WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY PLAYABLE WITHIN 10-15 MINUTES OF THE RAIN CEASING. ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD AND MEMBERS OF NORTH BALWYN BC OUR CONGRATULATIONS AND SINCERE THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL RESULT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED WITH YOUR UNIQUE MACHINE. WE ALSO GREATLY APPRECIATE THE PERSONAL ATTENTION YOU HAVE GIVEN OUR CLUB TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM – HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL INDEED. Kind regards, Charles Green, Secretary North Balwyn Bowls Club

Heart Warming Lifestyle

The changing landscape that’s shaping the future of health Recent estimates suggest that the population of Sydney will increase by 40% in the next 20 years – making it home to more than 6 million people. This exponential population growth translates into a dramatic increase in demand for health services. More and more people will need life-saving surgery, specialist treatment for chronic illnesses, as well as emergency care. Another trend is the uptake of technology with regards to health care.

People (especially young parents) are more attuned to managing their own health through technology and online health advice. They are likely to arrive at hospitals and health centres with a view on their state of health, possible conditions and preferred treatments. Awareness also drives demand for the best technologies and treatment, empowering families to take more control of their own health.

To keep care affordable for a growing number of tech-savvy families, a radical shift is needed in the delivery of care.

An ageing population and rising costs of technology are stretching the health dollar and the costs of treatment continue to rise. The need to develop new ways of delivering care that enhance patient safety and health outcomes while delivering better value is critical.

The health care system has begun to address this need with the introduction of electronic medical records that enable smoother patient flows and better access by families to their own health information. Today’s technology guarantees a future where information at our fingertips will drive best practise, service improvement, innovation and safety. With Western Sydney predicted to be Australia’s largest growth centre for children, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead began implementing the MEMORY strategy in 2015 transforming how children’s clinical information is collected and shared. The MEMORY Strategy creates a roadmap for a single patient view of all medical records. It aims to address risks that can compromise the effectiveness and efficiency in the day to day retrieval of information. It helps eliminate risk to children’s safety by ensuring that the most current piece of information is visible to the healthcare professional making care decisions for the child.

by every child. This will address risks and inefficiencies in service delivery by eliminating storage of isolated patient information while implementing best practice standards in clinical information management.

The ultimate goal is a lifetime record…..a complete MEMORY of care for all children for life. Investment in the future health of children is vital to meeting the changing landscape that’s shaping health care.

MEMORY creates a single electronic patient record that documents, retrieves and guides every facet of care for each individual child. By integrating all information into just one Electronic Medical Record the Hospital can create the collective Memory of all care and treatment received

Pearse and Krizanic win the blu- ribbon singles at the recent Australian Championships

Up To Date Bowls News

PEARSE WINS MAIDEN AUSTRALIAN TITLE Cabramatta’s Ray Pearse has capped off an amazing 12 months winning his first Australian title, at December’s Australian Championships on the Sapphire Coast, Merimbula NSW. Pearse created history in New South Wales by winning his fourth State Singles title and claiming the unprecedented state singles double in 2018, also reigning supreme in the State Champion of Champion Singles.

However, despite all of Ray’s success in New South Wales, having already represented Australia and won medals on the international stage, that elusive National Title had been a bucket list item for some time. “Other than my marriage this win ranks the highest; I’ve been searching for a national title for over ten years,” an ecstatic Pearse said. “I’ve won 10 state titles but this has been my first opportunity to play at an Australian Championships so I’m really happy to have won here this year.”

The beginning of his quest wasn’t going to plan when he found himself 0-11 behind in the opening round against Queensland’s Jay Dawe and also falling behind in his second round match against young gun Joshua Studham from South Australia; however Pearse quickly turned things around and after three sectional matches he progressed to the final undefeated. “I had a rough start in my first two sectional matches against Jay Dawe and Joshua Studham but I was able to scrape away two wins, then I had a good win in the third round leading into the final against Leeroy.”

to claim another trophy to her ever-growing trophy cabinet.

Krizanic had made her intentions clear from round one, accounting for Northern Territories Shenayde Heldt 25-9. The showdown between two BCiB Australian Jackaroos Krizanic and Kristina Krstic (WA) was a talking point prior to the event kicking off and the game did not disappoint. The pair were going shot for shot until a lose end from Krstic opened the door for Krizanic to pick up four shots and move within striking distance of the 25 shots required to win the match.

Krizanic got out of the blocks early in the final; Lynn Triffett was fighting back in the middle stages of the match, however it was Krizanic who ran away with a 10 shot victory. Women’s Gold Medal Match: Carla Krizanic (Sunbury, VIC) defeated Lynn Triffett (New Norfolk, TAS) 25-15

Men’s Gold Medal Match: Ray Pearse (Cabramatta, NSW) defeated Leeroy Schraner (Rosny Park, TAS) 25-19 Women’s Bronze Medal Match: Kristina Krstic (Manning Memorial, WA) defeated Judy Monks (Sawtell, NSW) 25-10 Men’s Bronze Medal Match: Joshua Studham (Holdfast Bay, SA) defeated Robert Craven (Queanbeyan RSL, ACT) 25-22 Courtesy of Bowls Australia

It would be a monumental task to win the final against arguably the country’s most in form singles player; Tasmania’s Lee Shcraner is the current back-to-back Australian Champion of Champion Singles winner and a bronze medallist at the recent World Champion of Champions, so it would take something special to defeat the man on a hot streak.

“It was nice to get out of the blocks a bit earlier against Lee, but as Leeroy does, he always fights back so I just needed to hang in there and persevere; the conditions were a little easier in the second half of the final so I’m just over the moon with the win,” Pearse said. “I’m feeling overwhelmed; I’ve actually done this for my father in law who is not well at the moment.”

In the women’s coveted singles final, Carla Krizanic showed why she is one of the world’s best with a solid victory over Tasmania’s Lynn Triffet AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

Team Henselite's

Teen Vic Open Champion

The Stellar Victorian Open held late in 2018 produced a week of thrilling bowls and in the end, it was the young guns from around the country that took home more than their fair share of the spoils. Team Henselite's Mikayla Long was victorious in the Women's Singles event and the 18-year-old was over the moon with the biggest win of her career so far, a tight 21-17 victory over Alison Hall. 'I honestly can’t believe it still,' said Mikayla after the win. 'it’s such an amazing experience. I feel honoured to have taken this title after playing against tough opposition who have many more years’ experience, some that have played state and international level.'

8

'THIS WIN HAS BY FAR BEEN THE BEST ONE I’VE HAD, IT IS MY BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT. MY TOUGHEST OPPONENT WAS PROBABLY ALISON HALL HOWEVER THEY WERE ALL QUALITY OPPOSITION.' Mikayla put her success down to a consistent routine. "I, had early nights, made sure I had a good breakfast, made sure I had time to relax before the game," she said. Like many of Australia's top bowlers, Mikayla is using Henselite Dreamline XGs and trusted them to perform on the greens at Shepparton. "My line was always true and they always have a nice finish to them, I always had faith in them, " she said.

It was quite a cheer squad that was present to watch the popular Sunbury star's achievement. "I had my family there with me (mum and dad) and the rest of my family were watching at home on their TVs. I also had the Trewarne family there supporting me all the way. There was Dylan Filuk who was always supporting and also Lisa Phillips, She was my coach for the final." In the next few months Mikayla has a busy schedule. In 2019 I'm looking forward to playing in some more tournaments and especially the Aus Open and hopefully go one better than i did this year and make the last 8 in the singles." Dawn Hayman and Lisa Phillips joined Mikayla as gold medallists for Team Henselite at this year's Vic Open, winning the women's pairs. Courtesy of Henselite Bowls

What remains of the past is giving the Historic Village of Berrima its future as thousands of visitors continue to discover the charm of Australia’s best-preserved colonial Georgian village. A Day in the life of Les Taylor

The

early years The three major voyages of discovery of Captain James Cook provided his European masters with unprecedented information about the Pacific Ocean, and about those who lived on its islands and shores. His achievements were the more remarkable because of his humble origins in an agricultural labouring family, from Marton, North Yorkshire. ... he intended to go not only 'farther than any man has been before me, but as far as I think it possible for man to go'.

Cook first went to sea at the age of 18. He spent ten years working in the coal trade of the east coast of England - with its shoreline of treacherous, shifting shoals, uncharted shallows, and difficult harbours. In 1755 he joined the Royal Navy, and within two years passed his master's examination to qualify for the navigation and handling of a royal ship. He gained surveying experience in North American waters during the Seven Years War - as Britain and France fought for supremacy in North America - and spent the first years of peace between 1763 and 1767 charting the fog-shrouded coastline of Newfoundland. During those years he gained a practical training in mathematics and astronomy, and steadily accumulated the technical skills needed to make an effective explorer. The following years were to show that in addition he possessed those less tangible qualities, of leadership, determination and ambition, which made him the outstanding explorer of the 18th century. As he wrote, he intended to go not only 'farther than any man has been before but as far as I think it possible for man to go'. 14

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

The first Pacific voyage Cook's first voyage (1768-71) was a collaborative venture under the auspices of the Admiralty and the Royal Society. The original intention was to organise a scientific voyage to observe the transit of the planet Venus from Tahiti, and this was supplemented by instructions to search for the great southern continent, Terra Australis Incognita, whose location had intrigued and baffled European navigators and projectors since the 16th century.

With Lieutenant Cook (as he was at that time) sailed the botanist Joseph Banks, the astronomer Charles Green, and a small retinue of scientific assistants and artists. Cook's ship, the Endeavour, was a bluff-bowed Whitby collier chosen for her strength, shallow draught, and storage capacity. Although the ship was to change, the type did not; the Resolution of the second and third voyages was of the same build, and even came from the same shipyard as the Endeavour, to whose qualities, wrote Cook, 'those on board owe their Preservation. Hence I was enabled to prosecute Discoveries in those Seas so much longer than any other Man ever did or could do.' ... Cook had put more than 5,000 miles of previously unknown coastline on the map.

Cook sailed first to Tahiti to carry out those astronomical observations that were the initial reason for the voyage, before turning south where, his instructions told him, 'there is reason to imagine that a Continent or Land of great extent, may be found.' After reaching latitude 40°S, without sight of land, he sailed west to New Zealand, whose coasts he charted in a little over six months to show that they were not part of a southern continent.

From there Cook pointed the Endeavour towards the unexplored eastern parts of New Holland (the name given by the Dutch to Australia in the 17th century). Cook sailed north along the shores of present-day New South Wales and Queensland, charting as he went. Story continued to next page>>

A Day in the life of Les Taylor After a hair-raising escape from the dangers of the Great Barrier Reef he reached the northern tip of Australia at Cape York, where he annexed the east coast on the grounds that it was terra nullius, no person's land.

He then sailed through the Torres Strait, so settling the dispute as to whether New Holland and New Guinea were joined. With only one ship Cook had put more than 5,000 miles of previously unknown coastline on the map. The twin islands of New Zealand, the east coast of Australia and the Torres Strait had at last emerged from the mists of uncertainty. The second Pacific voyage Cook's second voyage (1772-75) was the logical complement to what had been explored, and left unexplored, on his first. Again there were scientists and artists on board, and for the first time chronometers, one of which was Kendall's copy of John Harrison's famous no. 4 marine chronometer. This superb instrument kept accurate time throughout the buffeting it endured on the long voyage, showing that a practical solution to the problem of determining longitude at sea had been found. In his three years away, the newly-promoted Captain Cook disposed of the imagined southern continent, reached closer to the South Pole than any previous navigator, and touched on many lands - Tahiti and New Zealand again, and for the first time Easter Island, the Marquesas Islands, Tonga and the New Hebrides. ... on his two voyages he had laid down the essentials of the modern map of the South Pacific.

Most of these places had been sighted by explorers on earlier expeditions, so that even by conventional definitions Cook did not 'discover' them for Europe. His contribution was to bring order to confusion, to replace vagueness and uncertainty with a scrupulous accuracy. He had, he explained, put an end to the search for the great southern continent, 'which has at time ingrossed the attention of some of the Maritime Powers for near two Centuries past and the Geographers of all ages.' But his achievement was more than this, for on his two voyages he had laid down the essentials of the modern map of the South Pacific. The third Pacific voyage On his return from his second voyage, Cook found that his fame had spread beyond naval circles. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and awarded its Copley Gold Medal, was painted by Nathaniel Dance, dined with James Boswell, and was described in the House of Lords as 'the first navigator in Europe'. Brief thoughts of retirement were replaced by a determination to return to the Pacific. Cook's third and final voyage (1776-80) had its own logic in that it took him to the North Pacific in an effort to solve a geographical mystery as old as the southern continent - the question of the existence of a navigable north west passage. ... in a single season Cook put the main outline of the coast of north west America on the maps ...

As he approached the north west coast of America in 1778, Cook made the major discovery of the Hawaiian Islands, the northernmost outliers of Polynesia. He spent that summer in hazardous exploration along the American coast from Vancouver Island to the Bering Strait, searching in vain for the wide strait leading to an ice-free Arctic Ocean, as indicated on the speculative maps of the period. Although he found no north west passage, in a single season Cook put the main outline of the coast of north west America on the maps, determined the shape of Alaska well beyond the Bering Strait, and closed the gap between the Spanish coastal probes from the south and those of the Russians from Kamchatka.

Did one of Cook's temper tantrums seal his fate? It was to be his last

achievement, for the following winter he was killed on his return to the Hawaiian Islands. His death at Kealakekua Bay on 14 February 1779 has remained a source of scholarly controversy. During the weeks after his arrival Cook seems to have been regarded by the Hawaiians as the god Lono, bringer of light, peace and plenty, for he had arrived at the time of makahiki, Lono's festival.

Cook continued to conform to the sacred calendar of the islanders by sailing away from Hawaii as makahiki came to an end. However, the Resolution got damaged at sea, so that Cook was forced to return to the bay to repair his ship out of the correct season, thus making himself a violator of sacred customs... It was noted that there was an eerie atmosphere among the islanders following his return, and Cook's death after an argument on the beach was predictable if not preordained.. Not all accept this interpretation. Some scholars see Cook's 'deification' as the product of a Western, imperialist tradition, and they explain his death as being the result of a row caused by one of his uncontrollable outbursts of temper, which had become increasingly noticeable during the voyage..

Consequences The circumstances of Cook's death were a reminder that one of his tasks was 'to observe the Genius, Temper, Disposition and Number of the Natives'. This was easier said than done, for successive migrations across the Pacific had left societies organised in overlapping layers and groups, and the strained nature of the contact between Europeans and non-Europeans made understanding between them all the more difficult. .... the coming of venereal disease, alcohol and firearms brought a depressing train of consequences to the islands.

Cook and his fellow navigators of the period were for the most part humane and moderate commanders. Even so, the Europeans were intruders, emerging by the score from their towering vessels, appearing and disappearing without warning, violating sacred sites. An inescapable tension hung over the encounters, sometimes dissipated by individual contacts or trade, but often erupting into violence and death. Although the relationship between Polynesians and Europeans was not the one-sided affair of some portrayals, in the longer term the coming of venereal disease, alcohol and firearms brought a depressing train of consequences to the islands.

Cook set new standards in the extent and accuracy of his surveys, but to see his voyages simply in terms of geographical knowledge would be to miss their broader significance. The observations of Cook and his colleagues played an important role in natural history, astronomy, oceanography, philology and much else. Above all, the voyages helped to give birth in the next century to the new disciplines of ethnology and anthropology. In practical ways, too, Cook set new standards, especially in terms of health. There were no recorded deaths from scurvy on any of his voyages, and few from natural causes generally - except during the Endeavour's disastrous stay at Batavia in 1770, when 30 members of the crew, who had been remarkably healthy until then, died of fever and dysentery.

Specialists have corrected the popular view that Cook discovered the cure for scurvy - rather he applied with unusual thoroughness all suggested remedies. He ensured cleanliness and ventilation in the crew's quarters, and insisted on an appropriate diet that included cress, sauerkraut, and a kind of orange extract. Even so, his epitaph in a medical journal claimed that Cook's success in keeping his crews alive 'added more to his fame, and is supposed to have given a more useful lesson to maritime nations, than all the discoveries he ever made'. NATIONAL RANKINGS FOR DECEMBER RELEASED Tasmania ensured it entered 2019 in style by continuing to be represented at the top of the Bowls Australia (BA) National Rankings, with Lee Schraner and Rebecca Van Asch retaining their number one mantles.

A runners-up singles finish in the 2018 Australian Championships saw Schraner tighten his grasp at the top of the Men’s field, while Van Asch’s outstanding 2018 ensured she still holds enough ranking points as number one despite not playing since late August. Elsewhere, fellow Australian Championships stars Ray Pearse (NSW) and Sean Baker (QLD) each had a small climb, while Ryan Bester moved back into the top five thanks to his victory at the Ballina Summerland Pairs with the aforementioned Baker. In the Women’s field, the Queensland pairing of Ester Regan and Maria Rigby both occupy second-place with the same amount of ranking points with the duo part of the Fours outfit which collected silver in the Bribie Island Ladies’ Prestige event. The National Rankings System operates on a yearly rolling-points system, where all points accrued are retained for a twelve-month period and are then discounted. The rankings year concludes at the completion of the Australian Open in June 2019, with the number one ranked male and female players earning the titles of Male and Female Bowlers of the Year and $3,000 prize purses each.

Players can accrue ranking points from all national events, State Championships, State Champion of Champion and selected club events. Top-ranked players by state (Men):

Reduce your risk of dementia Almost one in 10 Australians aged over 65 have dementia, but by 85, it is one in three. And while once it was thought dementia was a late-life disease that couldn’t be prevented, we now know that’s wrong. “You really have to be thinking about protecting your brain all through your life. It can be hard to think about being 80 when you are only 50 but creating an ageing well life-plan well ahead of retirement will support you in the years to come” says Professor Anstey.m

Research has shown that there are actions you can take to reduce your risk of dementia, and these need to be incorporated into your healthy living plan as early as possible. Critically, during your 50-60’s, you need to be mindful of: 1. Weight and keeping yourself fit 2. Regular exercise like Bowls

NeuRA is leading the way on Ageing Well for Life, with the appointment of leading Australian scientists Professor Karrin Anstey who heads up the new Ageing Well centre. Prof Anstey is also Australia’s representative to the World Health Organisation on dementia. Waiting until your 60s and thinking, ‘I don’t want to get dementia, I’d better look at my risk factors’ isn’t a great plan says, Professor Kaarin Anstey.

THE NATION MOURNS AS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS VETS IN THE HISTORY OF AUSTRALIAN TELEVISION, ACTRESS

Penny Cook,

AKA ‘‘DR. VICKY DEAN’’ LOSES HER BATTLE WITH CANCER. Penny passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on the 26th December, 2018 aged sixty one.

She leaves behind an impressive body of work with a long list of roles in some of Australia’s most popular television soap operas including The Restless Years, Skyways, The Flying Doctors, E Street, All Saints and Neighbours. However, it was her “iconic’’ performance as vet “Dr. Vicky Dean’’ on “A Country Practice’’ which captured the imagination of the Australian public, and secured her place in Australian television history. Resulting in Penny being propelled into the world of unexpected celebrity and stardom virtually overnight. She won two logies for her performance on “ A County Practice’’ in 1984 and 1985 and was labelled by Australian fans as “The Nations Sweetheart’’ 22

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

The Multi-Award winning show was set in the N.S.W. rural fictional county town of Wandin Valley, with the storyline focusing on a small town medical practice with Cook’s character Vicky Dean as the show’s breakout star. The show aired twice weekly for 1,058 episodes between 1981 and 1993, attracting a huge audience of over 4 million viewers per episode. Penny’s role as vet Vicky Dean appeared in a staggering 300 episodes. Cook was born in Melbourne and lived in the eastern suburb of Woollahra in Sydney during her lifetime. She graduated from NIDA (The National Institute of Dramatic Art) in 1978. She initially started working as an actress for The Griffin Theatre and later transferred to the prestigious Ensemble Theatre and The Sydney Theatre Company. She also dedicated a lot of her time and passion to The Australian Theatre for Young people at Walsh Bay and served on the board of The Monkey Baa Theatre. Her long association with the theatre both as an actress and director resulted in over forty stage productions. However her success in television soap operas was undeniable and sometimes over shadowed any other projects she was passionate about. Her most memorable character “Dr. Vicki Dean’’ at times seemed to be inescapable, with Cook acknowledging in 2017 “that the challenge of the character would be part of her life forever, but also expressing that she had no regrets.’’

Cook was married for a short time to controversial radio broadcaster and television presenter Clive Robertson. Who, was described by many as “articulate, quirky and genuinely entertaining. She is survived by her second husband David Lynch and their daughter Poppy.

Rest in peace Penny Cook. Story courtesy by Catherine Colusso

Catherine’s Column Warne exploded onto the test cricket scene in 1992 at Old Trafford, Manchester. His spectacular performance caused a sensation and instantly fuelled public fascination, transforming him into a human headline and media magnet. However prior to reaching the dizzy heights of super stardom, the boy from Bayside in Melbourne, spent his adolescent years in the suburb of Black Rock, Victoria leading an idealistic life, dreaming about becoming an AFL champion, a rock star and an Aussie cricketer. Oblivious, that in a few short years he would be propelled into the kind of stardom unimaginable and beyond his wildest dreams. Turning him into an overnight superstar and sporting idol, worshiped by millions of fans around the globe.

HOWEVER ACCORDING TO SHANE, “HE WANTED SPORTING SUCCESS, BUT NEVER CONSIDERED THE IMPLICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES THAT CAME WITH IT.’’ HIS LIFE ON AND OFF THE FIELD SOON BECAME PUBLIC PROPERTY, RESULTING IN UNFLATTERING TABLOID FODDER, WHICH SHANE ADMITS HURT HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HOWEVER HE MAINTAINS “I’VE NEVER PRETENDED TO BE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING I’M NOT’’ AND “I LIKE TO THINK THAT I’VE DONE JUSTICE TO MY TALENT.’’

BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE IS CELEBRATING SHANE WARNE’S 50th BIRTHDAY BY GIVING ONE LUCKY READER A CHANCE TO WIN AN AUTOGRAPHED COPY OF SHANE’S NEW BOOK “NO SPIN’’

During his amazing career, he has singlehandedly rewritten the cricket record books, and is now recognised as one of Wisden’s five cricketers of the 20th Century. Along with other cricket greats such as Sir Jack Hobbs, Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Viv Richards.

I recently had the enormous privilege of meeting Shane and like the rest of Australia am very proud of his outstanding achievements. Story courtesy of Catherine Colusso

Written brilliantly by ex- cricketer and long- time friend, author Mark Nicholas. The book captures and outlines all major events that Shane has experienced during the duration of his amazing career. Nothing is off limits. With an eclectic mix of interconnections between his career and his personal life the book managers to dispel many theories and myths that have plagued Shane and occasionally overshadowed his career. Taking the reader behind the scenes during the numerous times he used his cutting edge precision to hammer his opponents. Nicholas has cleverly written the book mainly using Shane’s own unique vocabulary, highlighting his triumphs and detailing the trials and tribulations of Shane’s life including the road to his 700th Test wicket, The Ashes, his ten year marriage to Simone Callahan, his relationship with his parents and children and the engagement to Elizabeth Hurley that created a media frenzy. Shane Warne is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket. Over the years he has relentlessly made it his business to reach the top of his game, and stay there through sheer determination. Prompting the late and great Richie Benaud to declare “not just the greatest leg-spinner of all time but the greatest bowler he had seen, full stop.’’ 24

FROM PLAYSCHOOL WITH LOVE TO “SENIOR MOMENTS’’ WITH THE STARS THE TOUR INCLUDES ADELAIDE, MELBOURNE, SYDNEY, PERTH, BRISBANE, HOBART AND THE GOLD COAST. Collings is one of the most recognisable faces on Australian Television. She is best known for her long stint as a presenter on the ABC’s children programme playschool. A programme she reflects on today, with great fondness and admiration.

It is hard to believe that in 1959 she joined the ABC oblivious to the fact, she would soon be appearing on one of the most successful shows in Australian television history.

A journey, that has without any doubt impacted on her career. Her iconic appearances as a presenter and co-host on Playschool have certainly secured her place in Australian Television history and made her a star and a house hold name. She appeared on the show for a record of 401 episodes, between 1969 and 1999 and remains one of the longest serving cast members of the show. Her other television credits include Division 4, A Country Practise, The Restless Years and The Sullivans. Benita was born in Sydney, and as a youngster had aspirations of becoming a ballerina. However, soon realized she was not going to “make the cut.’’ Her great passion for theatre and her admiration for theatre greats Judy Dench and Maggie Smith compelled her to join The Ensemble Theatre in 1960. It was there, she met and was inspired by the great producer Hayes Gordon who acted as teacher and mentor. She regards that journey as one of the most treasured times of her career.

Lovable Australian actress Benita Collings will be appearing in the theatre sensation “Senior Moments’’ alongside John Wood, Max Gillies, Kim Lewis, Russell Newman & Geoff Harvey. Together they create the magical experience that is “Senior Moments.’’ This hilarious comedy revue is back by popular demand and will be travelling to theatres around Australia from February, 2019. 30

I had the pleasure of catching up with the effervescent fan favourite Benita recently. Who, enthusiastically informed me that she is very excited to be joining the amazing cast of “ Senior Moments.’’ An experience she tells me “ she will cherish’’ along with the many other highlights she has achieved during her amazing career. She also adds, that despite the intense public fascination that comes with the show. She is not at all fazed about being on the road performing for at least six months. As a matter of fact “she is looking forward to it.’’ Reflecting on her spectacular career, it is clear Benita enjoys what she does, the serenity is written all over her flawless face. She still looks as youthful as she did on playschool all those years ago. When I quiz her about her youthful appearance, she informs me that “healthy eating, no smoking and exercise’’ have played a major part in her wellbeing.

HOWEVER, SHE TEASES PLAYFULLY ’’I DO HAVE A GLASS OF BUBBLY ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS.’’ “Senior Moments is a cleverly written masterpiece that highlights the trials and tribulations of growing old disgracefully. It is a show not to be missed. Story courtesy of Catherine Colusso

SURECELL AUSTRALIA Are you tired of experiencing unrelenting pain every day, caused by degeneration, muscle tears or other injuries? PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) could be the answer for you! Thanks to modern medicine. We are in the midst of being engulfed globally by an ageing population. Life expectancy has now reached well into our 80’s and 90’s and could potentially reach 100 within the next 20 to 30 years. However as a result, we are also encountering degeneration and other ailments. As we mature and age, our body’s ability to repair itself diminishes significantly. Injuries may take longer to heal and osteoarthritis may become more pronounced. PRP is an ‘autologous blood derivative’ meaning that the growth factors and platelets found in the plasma component of our own blood are extracted and utilized to promote cell multiplication and the formation of new tissues, alleviating pain significantly. However, for more advanced arthritis and injury, AdiposeDerived Stem Cell Therapy may be more suitable. The use of Mesenchymal Stem Cells is minimally invasive and a safe procedure. What this means is that after the stem cells are harvested from our own abdominal fat, they are mixed with PRP, and injected into the affected area, where they are able to promote growth and regeneration by releasing growth factors. This stimulates cell multiplication and promotes the formation of new tissue, which then alleviates pain. This innovative procedure can be performed by one of our expert doctors at one of our Surecell Clinics located in most capital cities in Australia. We are now living in a changing modern society, which means that we could be working well into our seventies, making it necessary to

look and feel great all the time. Gone are the days when anyone over fifty was made to feel irrelevant and redundant. With the introduction of modern techniques and medicine, eighty has now become the new thirty. Therefore it is essential to look after our bodies inside and out. Experiencing the feeling of empowerment, knowing that you have pain management under control is truly an amazing feeling. Surecell is a positive way to make looking after our bodies more achievable, and not allow pain to slow us down. Who could ignore Hollywood Legend Jane Fonda aged eighty, strutting her stuff on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards recently? She had everyone mesmerised by her dazzling appearance and attitude, and did not allow age to slow her down.

Destination Travel you every place you go!

Amici Tours is an Australian

The Amici tours are more relaxed than most tours, and they stay several nights in some places. As Bruce explains: “We want to minimise the packing and unpacking and give you time to get to know a place and make your own discoveries. We want our tours to be enjoyable rather than hard work”.

tour operator that specialises in Italy tours for Australian travellers. Their guiding principles are affordability, friendliness and personalised service. In 2013, Louise Gallagher and Bruce McCarthy came up with the concept of affordable and friendly tours of Italy. They proceeded to set up the business, and now operate it together. They organise and personally escort all the tours.

Here’s how Louise explains their concept: “We don't want to see obstacles such as budget concerns, or lack of a travelling companion, prevent anyone from experiencing Italy. Our tours are designed to take you to the places you want to go, in comfort, without being extravagant. And we place a strong emphasis on friendliness and companionship”.

In 2019, the regions of Puglia and Basilicata are included for the first time, in a new tour called ‘Heel of the Boot’. Sicily is a major part of ‘Sunny South’, and Umbria features strongly in ‘Northern Icons’, along with Venice and Tuscany.

Why do people choose Amici Tours for their Italy experience, when there are so many Italy tours available? The number one reason is affordability. The Amici tours really are good value for money. Other reasons are the personal service, the small groups, and the more relaxed pace of the Amici itineraries.

The Amici itineraries do more than enable people to cross off a few ‘bucket list’ items, such as the Colosseum, Michelangelo's David and the Leaning Tower. They visit these wonderful icons, of course. But they aim also to provide a more in-depth experience. Great regional food and wine, some unusual excursions, and some lessvisited destinations make the Amici tours special.

The personal service means that if you ring Amici Tours you won’t get onto a call centre. You’ll speak with either Louise or Bruce.

On an Amici tour people aren’t herded around in a group of 40 to 50 people. The limit is 18. This means it is easier to hear the tour guides, more comfortable on the bus, and you aren’t bringing your own crowd with

ROAD TO THE BPL CUP BROADCAST SCHEDULE Bowls Australia is proud to announce the broadcast schedule for 10 and a half hours of BPL Cup action coming to your screens early in the New Year.

During the BPL Cup National finals back in November, the quarterfinal stages and onward were filmed to feature on Fox Sports and the first episode will kick off at 5:30pm on January 8 2019. The BPL Cup National Finals were hotly contested with 16 teams winning an expenses-paid trip to Club Pine Rivers during the staging of BPL08; a huge achievement considering there was a record-breaking 600+ teams entering this year’s competition. Bowlers are always screaming out for more bowls on the box and Bowls Australia has delivered, in conjunction with our broadcast partners Fox Sports Australia and Croc Media, an extra 10 and half hours of action will feature across seven days in January and February 2019.

The BPL Cup is an opportunity for club land bowlers to mix it with the best at the Bowls Premier League, whilst also playing the Bowls Australia fast-paced Jack Attack format with a chance to win a national title.

Above all, the chance to play on the televised rink at Club Pine Rivers in front of hundreds of spectators and feature on Fox Sports is something a grassroots sports-person wouldn’t have the opportunity to do in many other sports. So lock the following dates and times into your calendar to see what the BPL Cup is all about.

Keep a look out for the BPL Cup’s return in 2019 and be sure to enter for your chance to feature at the National Finals during BPL10 Courtesy of Bowls Australia 34

Catherine’s Column

IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT NOT TO BE IMPRESSED WITH THE ACTING CREDENTIALS OF GOLD LOGIE AWARD WINNING AUSTRALIAN ACTOR JOHN WOOD. WHO, WILL BE JOINING A SENSATIONAL CAST, IN THE HILARIOUS THEATRE REVIEW “SENIOR MOMENTS.’’ Described by fans and critics as “deliciously funny’’ the show does not disappoint and is packed with an array of memorable comic senior moments. All performed to perfection by a cast of acting titans exemplifying their enormous ability as actors. This hilarious comedy revue will be travelling to theatres around Australia from February, 2019. Joining John on stage will be Benita Collings, Max Gillies, Kim Lewis, Russell Newman and musical genius, Maestro Geoff Harvey on piano. I caught up with John recently, who without hesitation expressed how thrilled he was to be involved with the show. Also adding, how excited he is at the prospect of being on the road with some of Australia’s finest acting talent.

John has reigned supreme as an actor for over 40 years, winning numerous television awards and accumulating legions of admiring fans throughout his career. His journey to super stardom is not unlike many other great actors, who have been able to transcend and overcome the many hurdles that sometimes plaque them before achieving the dizzy heights of success and celebrity.

John was born in Melbourne, to proud working class parents in 1946. He joined The Victorian Railways as a clerk shortly after leaving school. However his love for movies and his admiration for old school movie stars such as Cary Grant, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn helped convince him to join a Melbourne Youth Theatre. 36

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

This decision ultimately resulted in John being accepted into NIDA. (National Instituted Dramatic Arts) During this time he also worked the lights at Neutral Bay’s Music Hall (NSW) where he was coincidently overawed by such stars as Benita Collings. He became a professional actor in 1970 aged 24 and worked for The Old Tote Theatre Company in “Death of a Salesman.’’ John then went on to appear in several Australian drama series and mini-series in minor roles before securing his game changing roles in Rafferty’s Rules and Blue Heelers, turning him into the super star he is today. Today, John is very grateful for all his blessings and good fortune, and gives credit to his wife Lesley for being the biggest influence in his life. He also praises his English teacher John Ellis for inspiring him to follow his dreams and help navigate his transition into becoming a performer. John’s awards include “Best sustained performance by an actor in a supporting role’’ in “POWER WITHOUT GLORY’’ 1977. “Most outstanding actor’’ for “RAFFERTY’S RULES’’ 1989.” & The Gold Logie for the most popular actor in “BLUE HEELERS’’ 2006.”

WHEN I ASK HIM TO NAME THE GREATEST MOMENT IN HIS CAREER THUS FAR? HE INSISTS THAT IT WAS IN 1977 WHEN HE WON A LOGIE FOR “BEST SUSTAINED PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE’’ FOR “POWER WITHOUT GLORY’’ ON THE ABC. I then ask him to describe the show “Senior Moments’’ in one word. His response is simply “VERY VERY FUNNY’’ which in my opinion, is clearly an understatement. “Senior Moments’’ is a show not to be missed.

Champion bowler

breaking down barriers

After losing most of his vision to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), South Australian lawn bowler Bill Hunt almost gave the game away. But a year of sitting on the sidelines, while his wife continued to play the sport he loved, was enough to convince Bill that he didn’t like missing out. Last month, 72-year-old Bill was part of a Whyalla Bowling Club fours team defending its back-to-back championship pennants, aiming to make it three in a row.

“It’s a hard transition from seeing something to not seeing, but you have to adjust… if you can make it through that transition period, you will carry on.” With dark patches in his central vision and blurred side vision, Bill relies on other players to tell him where the kitty is on the rink.

“I picture that in my mind and I bowl to that. All the guys and ladies that I bowl with know what I need, and they tell me if I’m long or short and then I correct that,” Bill explains.

Bill first noticed changes in his sight in 2004. An optometrist confirmed he had AMD, the leading cause of blindness and severe vision loss in Australia. One in seven Australians over the age of 50 – 1.3 million people – have some evidence of AMD. The risk of AMD increases dramatically with age and there’s a 50 per cent risk of developing AMD if you have a parent or sibling with the disease. Bill says his mother “had bad eyes, but we didn’t know about AMD in those days”.

Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) CEO Dee Hopkins says there is no cure for AMD, but there is effective, sight-saving treatment, depending on the stage and type of the disease.

Photo: Whyalla News “The important thing is to get onto it early. AMD is painless; you may not notice changes in vision in the early stages. Everyone over the age of 50 should have regular eye exams and macula checks and monitor their vision between visits with an Amsler grid,” Dee said.

She said a diet that includes oily fish and dark green leafy vegetables and regular exercise may help to delay disease progression and prolong sight. Some people may benefit from special supplements as advised by a health care professional. “Most bowling clubs are full of elderly people,” Bill said, “and they are most at risk… get your eyes checked straight away. If you have macular degeneration, these are the cards you have been dealt with and you have to go out and make the best of it; make what you can out of living with it.”

The MDFA Helpline on 1800 111 709 provides free information and advice on macular disease, risk reduction and treatment options as well as assistance finding low vision services and navigating government supports and subsidies. Up to Date Bowls News

My previous articles have been about this club, Tweed Heads Bowls Club, and what it represents for lawn bowlers.

Following is a small profile and achievements of each of these members.

Now I would like to draw your attention to what makes this club, the club everybody wants to become a member of.

Ken Hanson: 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist in Lawn Bowls.

Have a disability? Have you thought of joining a lawn bowling club?

The mighty “Invictus Games” have concluded and disabilities abound in the game of lawn bowls. Tweed Heads Bowls Club does not prohibit a person who has a disability from joining, in fact, it encourages people to join whatever their affliction.

Tweed Heads Bowls Club is proud to have some club members who are unfortunate to be classified as being disabled in some form or another. A disability does not prohibit any person to play this ‘non contact’ sport as can be verified during the recent Commonwealth Games which was held on the Gold Coast earlier this year (2018). An example is Tweed Heads’ Ken Hanson who skipped the Gold winning men’s disability triples team, or our wheelchair bowler, Damien Delgardo who in 2017 won the multi disability State of Queensland singles. These members are just two of four persons who are members of Tweed Heads Bowls club and play on a regular basis.

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

Ken was born in Colac, Victoria on 21st November 1949 with a then unknown disability of having been born with only one arm, his right arm. His sporting field included Aussie Rules, Cricket, Tennis and now Lawn Bowls. On leaving school with a ‘Leaving Certificate’ he became an “Administration Officer with the Victorian Public service for 30 years before retiring. He is married to Coral and they have 2 children, Raelene and Paul plus 5 grandchildren.

Asked what drew him to bowls he said “my parents gave me a set of bowls and bag when I purchased a house opposite the bowls club” which he joined in 1985 because he said, ‘it would be easier than chasing a cricket or tennis ball’.

As a dual member of Colac city Bowls Club and Tweed Heads his achievements are many: 18 Division 1 premierships, 1 club singles, 7 club pairs, 6 club triples, 4 club fours and one club mixed pairs. Winner of the Bendigo Country Week pairs in 1996 and was a team member playing in the Coolangatta Bonanza in 2013,14, and 15. Since joining disability bowls in late 2016 has won Victorian singles Gold Medal in 2017, Gold Medal for Victoria triples at National championships in 2017 and skipped the disabled men’s triples team to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. He now holds the prestigious title of being the oldest winner of a “Gold Medal” in the Commonwealth Game’s history.

Ability Over Disability

Up to Date Bowls News Damien Delgado: Damien was born on 17 February 1981 (37) at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, where he grew up before moving to the far north coast of NSW at Cabarita Beach. His early days of schooling up were spent at Cartwright Primary School until the age of 9, then at Pottsville Primary and later Kingscliff High schools.

He represented the Queensland Body Boards surfing as a 13 year old then played soccer for Marconi and “A” grade for Eschol Park, Sydney. He also played “A” grade cricket for Cudgen (far north coast), Touch football and Indoor cricket as well as having a handicap of 4 in golf.

Damien has had various occupations, a qualified Pastry Chef, Fitters assistant driving excavators and frontend loaders. He now works in reception at Cabarita Bowling Club, serves in the Bottle Shop and organizes the Raffles, Barefoot bowls and Trivia nights. He is married to (his words) “the most amazing woman”, Jessica Anne whom he met in Thailand while on holidays, 5 weeks before his accident. They have been together for 10 years. and have 2 children, 3 ½ Romeo and Adelaide 2.

Damien’s disability was caused through a car crash in Sydney on 11 December 2008 where he had to have a ‘hind quarter amputation’ hospitalizing him for nearly a year. The accident was so horrendous that he required 160 bags of blood in the first 8 hours and since then has had 77 operations with more to come.

He was drawn to lawn bowls by the greenkeeper at Cabarita Beach Bowling Club (far north coast NSW) who mentioned that there was a wheelchair he could get that would enable him to go on the greens – from there on he said, “he was hooked”.

In the short time (2017 to present) Damien has been playing lawn bowls his achievements are:2017: Winner - Queensland Multi Disability Open Singles and runner-up in multi disability pairs with club mate, Richard Rombouts.

Selected to play in Queensland Disability team at National Titles at Kardinya, Perth, W.A.

2018: lost final 20/21 in Australian Open Multi Disability singles. Won Bronze in both Singles and Pairs (with Richard) at Queensland Multi Disability games.

John McLeod: John is wholly wheelchair bound.

Born in Collinsvile, Queensland on 27 June 1957. He grew up in the north of the state and schooled to grade 10 at Thornborough College Charters Towers boarding school where he played all “ball” sports, cricket - represented north Queensland as a fast bowler with best figures of 8 wickets for 21, played Baseball (under 14) for Queensland then in 1977 started his Rugby League career. He is married to wife, Denise and has 3 sons and 1 daughter.

Represented the northern Queensland Rugby League side in defeating Great Britain, moved to Valleys in Brisbane in 1978/79, played for the state in 1979 against New South Wales, (Before State of Origin); 1980/81 moved to Western Suburbs, Sydney (now Tigers); transferred to Canberra Raiders in 1982-1985, then became a coach in numerous rural towns with lots of success. Wife Denise said: “he virtually ran away from home to play Rugby League” until early in the 1990’s when disaster struck after he was involved in a car accident where he had to have one leg amputated.

In 1994 he captained the Australian side for the FESPIC games in China and also competed in the World Games in Berlin, Germany

His second leg amputation was caused by severe infection following a knee replacement.

When asked what drew him to lawn bowls, John said; “it’s a game that can be played in a wheelchair pretty well any day of the week. It gives me something to do and I enjoy the social aspect of the game”. “Since starting up playing lawn bowls I have improved immensely and one day it is my ambition to represent Queensland for Bowlers with a Disability”, John replied. John is now being coached by one of the Gold Coast’s leading coaches and is improving every day

Continued from page 41>> Richard Rombouts: Richard was born on 22 June 1962 in Annandale, Sydney, and grew up in Gulargambone, NSW. He was a thalidomide baby and was born without a left arm but that didn’t stop him from working and playing sport namely, Basketball and Soccer.

His schooling was achieved from attending Greenacre Primary School, Sydney then until 4th form Gulargambone Central and then from 5th and 6th form a student at Copland College in the ACT. Richard is employed as a newsagent is married and has 3 children.

When asked what drew him to lawn bowls his comments were, “when forced into retirement from soccer due to too many injuries a friend kept insisting he try lawn bowls and so he finally relented and wished he had started earlier”. Since his competitive nature Richard has won Silver in 2017 Queensland State Multi Disability Championship Pairs, Bronze in 2018 Queensland State Multi Disability Championship Pairs and 2018 winner Tweed Byron District Bowling Association Reserve Grade District 4’s All this in just 5 years of bowling and now is hooked on the game.

He represented Tweed Heads in the 2018 pennants where the club finished runners up in division 6. Richard said he loved the social aspect of the sport as well as the competitiveness. He is impressed by the friendliness of the clubs I play at and the people I play with.

THE FOUR PERSONS I HAVE HIGHLIGHTED IN THIS ARTICLE ALL GO ABOUT THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES AS IF THEY ARE UNAFFECTED BY THEIR DISABILITIES AND HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE TOWARDS LIFE. Nowadays one of the best inventions recently introduced to the lawn bowlers’ world is the ‘bowlers aid’ which is commonly used as an ‘extension’ of a bowlers arm.

To operate the devise the bowl is placed into the ‘jaws’ of the arm and a trigger device operates the delivery of the bowl, thus enabling a bowler with a disability to deliver a bowl without any discomfort.

42

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLING & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

A bowler must obtain a doctor’s certificate detailing the disability and then the arm is approved by the state authority thereby enabling the player to play in any form of the sport namely, club championships, pennants, district, state or international games

Currently the Tweed Heads Bowls Club has about 60 members who, due to an affliction or disability, have succumbed to having to use an artificial arm in order to continue to participate in the sport and conducts a tournament each year for bowlers, from near and far, who only use the artificial arm Since gathering information for this article new members to join the club are now retired representative, Kelvin Kerkow and new state representative, Scott De Jongh who have both been bowling for several years with a disability. My

top- are tenyoureasons to retire ready?

What reasons to retire influenced your decision to stop working? I loved my time at work, right up to the day I left. When I said this to friends and colleagues, some of them asked me ... why then did you leave your interesting career at a comparatively early age of 60? Here are my top 10 reasons for retiring. They are based on my discussions with retirees, I'll be surprised if you don't share at least half of them. Why did I retire?

1. Because I had done the retirement financial planning for early retirement and I had the answer to the question how much money to retire. But my career was never just about money, and neither was my retirement.

2. After 26 years I was very good at my job, and though I loved it, I was no longer challenged, was not learning, and was deriving less satisfaction from it. I was not going to "retire on the job", and I felt I should get out and leave it to younger and more energetic colleagues, who were ready for it. 3. Health: At 60 I was blessed with good health, energy, a youthful outlook, and a love of learning...would I still feel that way at 65? There was no guarantee that I would have the same options and possibilities if I waited until 65.

4. Other life issues were becoming prominent ... aging parents, and the "empty nest" syndrome. Read Circle 5. In my "Third Age" I wanted to stay involved in the workforce, to pursue Coaching as a second career, using my best skills and experience accumulated over decades. Read Retirement Jobs

6. I wanted more leisure time with family and friends, than I had in full time employment. Retirement offered a unique opportunity to relax that you cannot get if you work full time. 7. I was not interested in "retirement", but I want to work less and at a more relaxed pace. I wanted to do something more meaningful in my retirement.

8. Hobbies/Clubs: I wanted to read more books ("a good book is the best of friends"), play more golf, climb more mountains, sing more songs, and watch more sunsets. 9. I wanted the freedom that comes with being my own boss, after 43 years at work. To feel that when I hit the hay at night I was “good tired”, because I had fought my battles, and chased my dreams. 10. I wanted to work on My Bucket List ... writing, travel, learning, and living!

EXPERT TREATMENT FOR FOOT, KNEE and LEG PAIN Our feet and legs are vital for mobility and balance and are the basis of most of our daily activities, so its no wonder most people suffer foot, knee or leg pain at some point in their lives. But what can you do about it?

We asked the experts at Foot & Leg Pain Clinics to shed some light on common foot and leg concerns: - Foot, heel, ankle, knee and hip pain, injury and arthritis are often misdiagnosed and incorrectly treated, so its important to find an experienced, designated musculoskeletal podiatrist to assist.

- Bad foot posture can continually pull your body out of alignment, which can contribute to undue stress on the feet and other joints and tissues within the legs, knees and hips. - Even long-term injuries and degenerative conditions can now be successfully treated, without medications or surgery, thanks to natural regenerative treatments including Prolotherapy and PRP (platelet rich plasma), prescription orthoses, stress and load management strategies.

- Traditional treatments such as cortisone, anti-inflammatory medications and joint arthroscopies have been found to delay healing and cause further tissue damage in many cases, so it’s important to get accurate advice from someone who particularly specializes in foot and leg biomechanics and musculoskeletal medicine.

Foot & Leg Pain Clinics have been the chosen practitioners for some of the Worlds best athletes and thousands of people of all ages suffering foot and leg pain. Clinics are located right across Melbourne, Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula. You can contact them on 1300 328 300. Call now for $50 OFF initial consultations.
