THE KNCC IS CELEBRATING IT’S 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR.

British born Lawn Bowls global sensation and creator of the KNCC, Andrew Newell plans to mark the anniversary with a revolutionary fun day of bowls with a twist. However, staunch bowling enthusiasts need not worry, Andrew assures patrons that the event will still feature the usual KNCC agenda with favourites such as Music, Caribbean food and activities for all to enjoy.

Andrew Newell is credited with creating the KNCC (Kermit Newell Challenge Cup) in 2013. This event saw Jamaica represented for the first time in lawn bowls against other countries. Originally the KNCC event was held as a family fun day, and to raise the profile of lawn bowls and create interest in the sport within the Caribbean community. However, the alternative reason for Andrew’s determination to include Jamaica, was to encourage Jamaica to play officially with the possibility of competing in the Commonwealth Games. Since the conception of The KNCC in 2013, Andrew, has held events in Glasgow during The Commonwealth Games month 2014, Northampton and all over London………..

How It All Began

Andrew Newell is a Lawn Bowls superstar, who has singlehandedly revolutionised the sport, which has now globally captivated today’s youth.

The creation of the KNCC has attracted a huge global following, countries such as Sweden, Marcau, Belgium. UAE and Holland have all participated.

As a youngster, Andrew Newell’s unrelenting ambition was to become a Lawn Bowls champion and ultimately introduce Jamaicans to his beloved sport. Andrew recalls memories of watching English bowlers such as David Bryant on TV as early as 1980. These early memories have had an everlasting impact on Andrew and spurred an overwhelming interest in the sport. Andrew’s determination and entrepreneurial skills resulted in the opening of the first bowls green in the Caribbean in 2015. He is also the founding member of Jamaican Lawn Bowls team the Reggae Rollers, who are now enjoying celebrity status. Andrew’s talent has inspired a huge following and global recognition. He is a living legend and an amazing role model for young bowlers from all walks of life, who dream of following in his very successful footsteps.
