s I grow older the appeal of going out, getting shit-faced drunk and waking up with a screaming hangover becomes less and less tempting. During my naive teenage years, I couldn’t imagine a more satisfying way to fill my weekend, than to go out and get very merry with my wild friends. I cringingly recall wishing away each week, impatiently counting down the days until Saturday night arrived. Fast forward four years and my weekend agenda has had a dramatic overhaul. Keyboards chatter, as an inquisitive head peers up above the regimented ranks of screens. The dreaded Monday morning interrogation unfolds. “What did you get up to this weekend?” No longer do I feel embarrassed to tell the truth about my lack of weekend escapades, as I nonchalantly announce “nothing much.” I can feel my colleagues eyes flicker, as I receive a routine smile in response to my reply. They too have been absorbed by the movement of ‘nesting’. I’m not afraid to admit at the age of twenty-one, I revel in the thought of staying home, wearing PJs and binge watching my favourite series on Netflix. Curling up beside the warm glow of a fire 8

Sleep is the foundation of health and wellness. When you get enough sleep, you’re more effective, productive, creative and focused in all that you do. Make sure you get 6-8 hours of sleep each night to help you live well each day. Sleeping is easier said than done, that’s why Kind have put together an easy 6 step guide to achieve your sleeping goals. 1. Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark and quiet. Because well, we all know how good the cold side of the pillow is. 2. Get into bed at the same time each night, setting a routine at night makes it easier for your body to prepare for sleep. 3. Keep a sleep diary, it’s so much easier to identify sleep problems when you can see the mistakes you’re making each night. 4. Keep away from caffeinated drinks, especially in the evening. 5. Set a bedtime routine! Enjoy indulging in relaxing experiences before bed. Run yourself a warm bath, quietly listen to calming music or read a book before setting off to sleep. This will prepare your body for sleeping and help your mind switch off from the stresses of the day. 6. Avoid big meals before bed, have a warm drink or a light snack instead. Our bodies aren’t built to ingest a large meal and then to crash out afterwards.
