GARAYED garayed is a start up that recycles egyptian newspapers and magazines to create unique, handmade products such as notebooks, mobile covers, etc. this start up was founded a partner; sherine maher and myself. it started as an entry in a prodcuct design competition: 'the hit,' at auc in which it ended being one of the top 10 finalists. as a team of two, we have worked on all branding aspects of garayed, starting from logo design to the complete brand identity, product development, product production, packaging design, photography and the marketing campaign for the brand including all designs required. the procuts were introduced in the form of different lines depending on their theme whether vintage, comics, old egyptian cinema etc.

arabic is used to create the brand identity as the brand focuses on egyptian newspapers and magazines. the product brochure was designed for a digital media course following Garayed's brand identity. a social media camapign starting with a teaser camapign on instagram and facebook was used to launch the brand. all posts were designed by us and all photos were taken by us. any other posts wether in the form of images or videas that were used in the marketing camapigns for each of the lines and for the products in general on social media were originally created by us as well.
THE STUDENT UNION BRANDING the 2014-2013 auc student union created a new brand identity for the student union that is minmalistic, trendy, approachable and interactive to the auc students. the rebranding of the su included the use of the logo in a new format and the use of a new color scheme that included 5 vivid colors of blue, green, ornage, pink and purple. based on this identity that was created by the new president, i worked with hin on branding the different projects under the student union umberalla. we introduced the new identity of the su help desk which is the front desk for the student union to interact with the students. we cretaed its new logo, publications for marketing and signage. we rebranded the su outlets; the su market that expanded to become a shop by creating icons for the different services provided, designing the signage
and the redesign of the exterior. we also redesigned the exterior of the su cafe. Moreover, we worked on the marketing material for the welcome and lucky packs that were distributed to all students. this all aimed to link all the projects that fell under the umberalla of the student union through ensuring the consistent impact of the brand identity through all the projects and through creating a linkage by the use of icons that are informative, yet interactive to the target audience of the student union.

GRAPHIC DESIGN
EXPLOITATION TO EMPLOYMENT as a requirement in the digital pracices 2 course, which focuses on designing several publications using photoshop, we were required to design a poster for a competition: poster for tomorrow. the competition required the submission of any poster design with the theme of employment, exploitation etc. the concept of the poster designed was to use the simple type to show the transformation that occurs from exploitation to employment. the black color is used to reflectexploitation and the white color is used to reflect employment, the background is created through creating a composition of overlapping fingerprints to reflect the human involvement and impact in both.
gazef minimalistic campaign the following designs were designed for a marketing group, the designs were part of a final project in a course in which they decided to have a minimalistic marketing campaign for gazef. gazef is a travel agency for adventure travel. the minimalistic campaign with the theme: don't think just gazef, refects the core idea of the travel agency. the 4 icons integrated in the gazef logo were used to create the 4 different posters showing the different activities. the map used is not an orignial map, credit: world map watercolor by michael tompsett
mg4su infographics the student union candidates wanted to create a document that would summarize their plan for elections to be presented to the students in an interactive, summarized and informative manner. following the color scheme and the identity of their campaign, i designed this document composed of infographics to summarize the key aspects of their plan.
NEGM PROJECT POSTER DESIGN i was required to choose one of mohamed fouad negm's songs and to design a poster that expresses it . choosing el bahr beiedhak leh song, I designed this poster to reflect its meaning in my own perspective.

0NE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST POSTER one flew over the cuckoo's nest was a play conducted at auc based on the original story and film. as a way of integrating the graphic deisgn students, we were required to design a poster for the play, this was in the form of a competition and the best 10 designs were exhibited during the timing of the play. my design was chosen as one of the 10. the concept of the design builds on the idea of a man's shadow escaping from the darkness of his mind trying to reach the light, but in fact his shadow is still connected to the darkness of his mind. this scene is in the form of a vision seen through an eye. this reflects the journey of the characters in the story during their stay in the mental institute. the poster was handrawn using pencil colors.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM POSTER a midsummer night's dream was another play conducted at auc that i was required to design a poster for.. the concept of the poster is to create the setting of the play: the forest in a way that is like a fairy tale. the moon is a main element in the poster and the lines of the forest are drawn from it reflecting how the whole story takes place during the nightand reflecting the nature of it being a dream. this poster was handrawn using pencil colors.
LUXOR TEMPLE LOGO AND TICKETS DESIGN i was required to design the logo and tickets for any temple that we choose in egypt. i chose luxor temple because of the layers of history that it witnessed as it has witnessed having a phraonic temple that changed later to be a church and finally building a mosque. the logo reflects those layers of history through the integration of the outlines of those different religious buildings. i was required to design a ticket for egyptians and one for non-egyptians. the ticket for egyptians used the 1 pound banknote that was no longer used because of the nostalgic feeling it creates to the egyptians and to sifnify the price of the ticket. this integration of the logo in the bank note creates an integrated compostion that replaces the general icons in banknotes with the new icon of the luxor temple. the ticket for the foreigners followed its price by using the 50 pounds banknote to design the ticket. the logo design and both tickets were handdrawn.

cairodesigns is a hypothetical corporate that i created for a course to be able to design a website for all what is needed in creating a platform for different designers to showcase their products and for clients to be able to connect to the different designers. as the coporate did not exist, i had to start by creating a creative brief that is used to identify what is expected from the website by identfying its message, its target segment, its goals, etc. i designed all aspects of the website including the color scheme, font, etc, to be able to create the layout for the website. to be able to design the website i created a site map to design the navigation through the website to access the different services that it provides.
As part of the exercise, we had to recreate the layout to be able to be viewed on ipad as well as mobile phones to be able to understand how can the website become mobile friendly and to be adjustable for the ipads. COLOR SCHEME
