WATER COOLED DIESEL ENGINE EDUCATIONAL

This Unit has been designed for the detection, observation and recording , for educational purposes, of most mechanical and thermal parameters occurring during the operation of a diesel water cooled engine. The carrying structure supporting the engine-brake assembly consists of a steel pipe framework and it operates as a main water reservoir for the engine cooling system in order to obtain a very compact design. The unit is completed by a separated control board supporting all the instruments, fuel system, air and fuel consumption meters.

GENERAL The engine is a water cooled 2 cylinders 4 stroke diesel engine with max output 15Hp at 3000 rpm. (other engines of marine or industrial type are available) The cooling system is in closed circuit through the above mentioned built in reservoir by means of an engine driven circulating pump and electric motor driven independent fan. Suitable temperature gauges and thermometers complete the system. The engine is coaxially mounted to a separately excited oscillating frame dynamo brake cooled by an independent electric fan. Excitation for the dynamo, to vary loading condition, is charged through an electronic circuit and load resistances embodied in the control boar dissipate power output. Torque is measured by a continuous duty detector and by an indicator on the main control board. The dynamo, upon request can be equipped to operate as an electric motor for motoring over the engine in order to measure the passive mechanical frictions. The exhaust system is fitted with two different independent silencers and by a variable throttling valve in order to estimate influences upon the engine efficiency. By means of a venturi meter connected to a differential gauge, exhaust can be measured in its volume (optional). Upon request the unit can be equipped with an electronic cycle detector with oscilloscope, angular transducer and pressure water cooled transducer by means of which the plotting of open and indicated cycles is made possible.

(optional) ¾ Exhaust gas volume measurement. (optional) ¾ Internal mechanical frictions measurement. (0ptional) ¾ Torque at starting. (optional) ¾ Detection and plotting of indicated and open cycle. (optional) Comparative process of the above mentioned parameters in different operational conditions. Engine run variations and relevant influence on temperatures, fuel/air consumption, cooling water and exhaust gas. The unit is equipped with a wide instruction book to run all the relevant experiments included the thermodynamic balance.

Tender specifications: Diesel engine test unit with a 15hp 3000rpm twin cylinders, four stroke water cooled engine coupled to a dynamo-bake fully instrumented for detection and measurement of every operational parameters. Cooling water in closed circuit by means of a built in reservoir in the engine bed and a separate control board supporting all the instruments free from any vibration. Positive displacement fuel consumption meter, air meter, two different exhaust systems and cooling thermometers complete the unit. ° We reserve the right to modify/improve the unit without any previous notice.
