SHIP STABILITY SYSTEM EDUCATIONAL MODEL
DESCRIPTION Educational system for the laboratory study of METACENTRE and HYDROSTATIC SHIP STABILITY. It consists of a floating midship section built in stainless metal and Plexiglas complete with draft and displacement scales and a precision inclinometer. A vessel for stability tests completes the unit. The floating model can be equipped with vertically adjustable weight simulating hold loads and horizontally adjustable weight simulating deck loads for the study of metacentre and hydrostatic stability angles determined by an inclinometer.
Alternatively this model can simulate a TANKER midship section by introducing longitudinal bulkheads for the study of ship stability with liquid load and flooding of different compartments. The longitudinal adjustable weight can be equipped with a vertical rod simulating a CRANE on the deck and allows tests on ship stability with suspended mass. Draft and displacement scales are engraved on the two Plexiglas bulkheads.
EXPERIMENTS PERFORMED 他 Metacentre study in a midship section. 他 Inclining experiments by horizontal and vertical traverse of the load. 他 stability experiments with longitudinal liquid load and floodings. 他 Influence of suspended mass on the deck.
