Once you set your goals, be committed to them. Goal commitment is dependent on: The importance one attaches to the expected outcomes of goal attainment; Self efficacy: one’s belief that goals can be achieved; and Commitment to others. Goals involving promises to, or arrangements with, others can strongly improve commitment.
EDITOR’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Remember:
There’s something exciting about a New Year. It represents a fresh start — a time to clean your state of mind and focus on the year ahead. It’s also a time for a new adventure.
Prioritize — Don’t try to achieve too much at the same time. Give each goal a priority ranking. Be realistic: — Set goals that you can and will achieve.
As the New Year begins, people always set resolutions but, as I’ve always said, “I set goals – not resolutions.” When setting your goals, use the acronym S M A R T as your

Personality:
Finally, you need to track your goals to see how you’re doing every step of the way. Don’t forget to
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment. 13. Don't overdo. Keep your limits. 14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip. 16. Dream more while you are awake 17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness. 19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others. 20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present. 21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you. 22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class, but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime. 23. Smile and laugh more. 24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree...
Be rewarding — Reward yourself when you achieve each of your goals. So, as we welcome 2013, let us set, prioritize and commit ourselves to our goals whatever they are. Enjoy life, and give God thanks each day for preserving you, your family, and friends. All the very best...

One of my greatest passions right now is in the area of the Arts, specifically worship dance. I have always had this great passion to dance from a little girl. I took lessons, entered in contests at the Ward Theatre in Jamaica and won many prizes. But then I got married and had my children. I even tried to realize my dream in their lives, but they had their own passions and desires.
INTERVIEW WITH PERSONALITY OF THE MONTH… Christine Gosling
But then, God can always fulfil the dreams of your heart regardless of your age, as long as you are willing to obey His call and purpose for your life. So here I am, a grandmother, and I have decided to use the time and resources God has blessed me with to fulfil this desire to glorify Him in worship dance using tambourine and flags. If even one person is set free, then I have accomplished that desire. So, in January I will be taking ballet lessons for strength and flexibility and then teaching it to my team members and also to my grand-daughters.
ADC: Hello Christine. Welcome to the ADC Communiqué, and thanks for agreeing to be the Personality featured in the first issue of 2013.
CG:
Well, I am a born again believer in Jesus and I attend a dynamic church in Mississauga. I migrated from Jamaica many, many years ago with my husband. I am a mother of 3 beautiful daughters, grand-mother to 11, and I cherish those moments I spend with each of them. I enjoy time with family and friends, our yearly family beach days, home BBQs, and dinners with family and friends.
I am thrilled to be asked to be the first “Personality of the Month” for the first ADC communiqué in the New Year. I think this is very significant.
ADC: I know that we’ve been colleagues now for
the past two (2) years, when we met at the PACE function, but would you tell my readers a little bit about yourself?

ADC: I am also aware that you’re a member of the Flag and Tambourine Group at Kingdom Covenant Centre. How did this group come to be formed, and how busy are you with it? CG:
church, where the less fortunate are invited to come and are fed a dinner the third Saturday of every month. All are welcome who have a need. We have also ministered at those dinners too from time to time. Our desire is to see people healed, delivered and set free through this Ministry of Flags, Tambourine and also Dance. We are very excited in what the Lord has planned for us for the New Year, as we continue to “study to show ourselves approved unto Him…”
This group was formed over 15 years ago as the Tambourine Ministry by a group of adults and young people at the church I attend. I was so fascinated by it that I joined, and the leader at the time really helped me to learn the patterns and it just grew on me. After a number of years I took a sabbatical for a time, got involved with a dance ministry outside the church, learned some worship dance techniques, including flags and banners as an extension of worship, but the desire was still there for the tambourine, so in September of 2010 I rejoined the ministry as I felt the Lord calling me back. Then I introduced flags to the team and they were excited and opened to this new form of worship — so was the church. I am the leader for the Flags, and Sonia is the leader for the Tambourine and together we are working at incorporating worship dance in the New Year.
ADC: In your work life you’ve just teamed up with your daughter to start your own business called the Treasure Closet. Can you tell us more about this; for example, what it entails, the sort of clientele you will be catering to, etc.? CG:
We are now called the Worship Warriors and have been very busy, practicing once a week, ministering at nursing homes, prisons, church concerts, banquets and other functions, some of which you have been a part. Thank you for the opportunity. I was also involved in the worship dance flash mob in Toronto at Dundas Square in the summer. There is also Martha’s Ministry that I am involved in at my

I worked in the corporate world for over 25 years and it was very expensive even back then to keep up with ‘the image’, and I remember some of the ladies in management boasting about getting their clothing from a second-hand store at bargain prices, and they looked amazing. So a few years ago, I decided that I would like to start a business like this to help women to outfit themselves on a budget and still turn heads. I mentioned this to my daughter and she was supportive, but at the time she was busy with life. Early this year, she had a baby and decided she would like to stay home, so she is now an integral part of the planning of this business. Eventually we will be catering to the whole family, men and children, clothing them from head to toe.
One of my specialties will be hand crocheted hats for summer and winter, as I have started crocheting again and am trying to build up a supply.
FEEDBACK ON THE CHRISTMAS ISSUE First of all, thank you, thank you for those who read and took the time to reply either by e-mail or by phone to let me know how you liked the issue. It really does give me a lot of encouragement to ‘carry on’. Below are some of the comments from my readers:
I also own and operate a cleaning business covering Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville and Milton. The goal for this business for early 2013 is to expand it to the place where I will have a team of workers and then I can stay at home and help to manage the clothing store with my daughter.
Excellent job as usual, Dawn. Norma Nicholson is inspirational; doesn’t sound as if she is in the winter of her life. Kudos to her! – Erma C., Toronto
ADC: With what is now going to be a very busy lifestyle for you, do you have time for hobbies? If you do, what are they? CG:
Dawn, your Newsletter is a great intro to Christmas. – Albert C., Toronto
As I mentioned earlier, crocheting is one of the hobbies I have started again, so I will continue with that as much as I can. If time permits, I would also like to do some ballroom dancing to keep in shape and keep these muscles pliable as I mature. I used to read a lot and I miss that pastime, so that is another hobby I would like to add for 2013 as a goal.
I have just received your Newsletter and it is a gem. The layout and the format is great.” – Norma N., Toronto Thanks for sharing your Newsletter with me. I have just finished reading it and found it interesting and inspiring. I love the layout. The interview with Norma Nicholson is very enlightening and just goes to show the capacity we have to do more and more to enhance the lives of others. It is an encouragement and has certainly lit a flame in me to become more involved. The reminder of our Winter years is also a great reminder to all. Keep up the good work.
ADC: Christine, thank you so very much for this interview, and we wish you all the very best for a very successful and healthy 2013. CG:
Thank you for the opportunity of sharing in your Newsletter and much success for you and yours for 2013. Health, prosperity, and happiness to all. As we set our goals for this year, let us be mindful of our limitations so we can accomplish those goals. Prov. 29:18 says “where there is no vision, the people perish…”

Realize that there can be no fellowship without communication. You should be in continued communion with the Lord. This is something you consciously do in response to His love. If you really love Jesus, you should be willing to spend time with him through prayer and study of the Word. The more fellowship you have with the Lord, the more His attributes and character of love are manifested in your life.
DAWN’S VACATION Dawn will be in Jamaica on her annual vacation from January 24 to February 15. During her time away, the Ladies Breakfast will be conducted by the Vice-President of the Ladies Ministry, Mrs. Lowrin Morris.
Abraham was called the friend of God (James 2:23) because of his intimacy with God. Now God has called you into fellowship with His son, Jesus Christ. That means you’re his partner and friend — a direct result of the Abrahamic Covenant of which we are heirs. Developing a close intimacy with Him should mean more to you than anything else in the world.
INSPIRATION CORNER
Your fellowship with the Lord is unique to you. The more you relate to the Lord through His Word and the Holy Spirit, the more you will get to know Him and become more like Him in your speech and actions.
LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP (This is one of the homilies that Dawn preached a year ago at LeisureWorld Long Term Care Facility.)
Avon News!
...Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has called us into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. We declare that we’re growing in grace, wisdom and knowledge, and the power of the Holy Spirit is revealed in us in increasing measure as we spend time in fellowship.
In the March/April issue of this Communiqué, I will update you on some of the changes that Avon will be making to help make ordering products easier. So look out for these changes.
Having believed in Jesus, one of the greatest and most beautiful things you should crave and practise is rich and constant fellowship with Him. If you truly love the Lord, then you’ll make ‘fellowshipping’ with him a paramount endeavour in your life, because there’s no love without fellowship. This is done through study, meditation on the Word, and prayer.
As an example, if you ordered the Far Away Perfume and the item number was 123-456 in one Campaign, the item number would be different in the next Campaign. But, starting in Spring 2013, 123-456 would be the number for Far Away Perfume for life! That’s just one of the many improvements to which you can look forward..
