NAUTILUS for french horn
The Nautilus is one of the oldest living creatures that still subsists today in the deep seas, its proportions, studied by the Fibonachi “aurea section theory” show to be perfect. It is a crab of the warm seas that amazed Julio Verne’s imagination. It also resembles the shape of a horn.
This work appeared from the interplay with those elements in a non-rigorous way. It liberally applies the “aureal” proportions (especially concerning the structure of the piece). It uses an electro-acoustic device that multiplies the sound image of the horn or gives it diverse spaces by means of reverbs and virtual echoes; as if it were a dialogue between a group of maritime animals.
