uster Moon and the gang are back together and this time their dreams are bigger and better! Featuring the beloved characters from Sing, as well as some new faces, they have set their sights on a show in the entertainment capital of the world – Redshore City! The only problem is that Clay Calloway, rock legend and the star of their show, has been hiding from the public for 15 years. Each of the characters has obstacles to overcome. Can Clay face performing again after all these years? Will Johnny work hard enough to please his brutal dance teacher Klaus Kickenklober? And who will get the starring role? To pull off their ‘Out of This World’ show they need to be brave, have faith and work together. This movie is a reminder that bullies can’t steal your hopes and dreams. You can achieve your dreams if you’re true to yourself and don’t let others get you down.

Whether it’s at church, at a football match or in the shower, I love a good sing-song! I’ve just realised I’ve been humming a tune at my desk all morning – I must be in a good mood! Often the song I sing depends on what I’ve heard on the radio or TV. If I’ve watched a game of footy, I’ll end up humming a tune that the Plymouth Argyle fans sing at matches (especially if Argyle have won). Sometimes a happy memory (or even a sad one) will cause a song to pop into my head. But my absolute favourite song to sing is ‘Jesus Loves Me’ to a Salvation Army tune called ‘Bowes’. The reason I like it is because it’s a really simple song with a really simple message – Jesus loves me and looks after me, always has, always will! And that’s pretty much all anyone needs to know.

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT LEARNING AND GROWING

What Will You Grow Into? asks Melita Day-Lewis

I

love walking in woods. It amazes me to think that ginormous oak trees with branches reaching up into the sky come from tiny acorns. The church in Philippi was like that. It started off really small with one lady called Lydia, who sold purple cloth in the city. She heard Paul teaching about Jesus and decided to follow him. Later, when Paul and Silas were imprisoned for praying for a girl, God sent an earthquake that opened their jail doors! As a result, the jailer and his family also chose to follow Jesus. This small group of new Christians (like a planted seed) gathered together to worship, pray and learn more about God – and the church began to grow (like a tree).

Many years later Paul prayed for the church in Philippi and reminded them in a letter how God began that awesome work in their lives – and that he would keep on growing it until the work was complete. God’s truth is like a seed planted in us. As we ‘water’ the seed by learning more about Jesus, we begin to grow in our friendship with him and living the way God wants us to. You might think that reading your Bible or praying isn’t a big deal – but remember that they are like tiny, life-giving ‘seeds’ that will grow into something much bigger. The next time you pick up an acorn, think about what you could become or do for God when you keep on learning and growing!

Awesome Acorns

In the acorns, write or draw some things you’d like to learn or grow in – they can be things that you would like to do for God (for example, praying for your friends) or a good choice you’d like to make (for example, being kind).

What’s your favourite Bible verse and do you know it off by heart? If so, do you often repeat it to yourself? Reciting Scripture we’ve memorised is a great way of expressing how we feel – all our joy, hopes and concerns. It’s also a great reminder of God’s promises and enormous love for us. That’s why in Deuteronomy 18:11, we’re encouraged to place God’s word in our ‘hearts and minds’. So have a go at learning the Bible verse below… Do not worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks. Philippians 4:6 (International Children’s Bible)

Look After Yourself We know that God created us the way we are and he loves us no matter what. But it’s still important to look after our bodies so we can stay fit and healthy.

Bible Bubble This week’s Bible Bubble is from 1 Corinthians 3:16–17, which says: ‘You realise, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalising God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred — and you, remember, are the temple.’ (The Message).

Looking after ourselves is not just about looking good and feeling good. The Bible tells us to look after our bodies because God created us and loves us very much. We wouldn’t vandalise a church building and in the same way we should respect and look after ourselves because we have God’s Spirit in us.

Exercise Exercise is a great way to make you feel good and keep your body in tip-top shape. You can do it by yourself, at home or with friends. Maybe you could join a football club, attend a dance class or go swimming.

You could even ask a grown-up to help you make an obstacle course at home or in the garden. See what you can jump over, climb on, duck under and run around!

14/01/2022 14:10

Healthy Eating One great way to look after yourself is to try to eat foods that are healthy and good for you. This means eating lots of fruit and vegetables and not too many sweets and crisps. Just as cars need the right fuel to keep moving, your body needs the right ‘fuel’ so you can be active and full of energy. Here are a couple of fun recipes for easy healthy meals.

You Tuwrkeyillslicneseed: 1 avocado e Juice of half a lim Salt and pepper (any kind) 2 slices of bread A bowl A fork lp A grown-up to he

Turkey Toast 1 Ask a grown-up to scrape out the inside of the avocado, put it into a bowl and roughly mash it with a fork. 2 Squeeze in the lime juice and add a bit of salt and pepper.

3 Toast the bread. Spread on the avocado mix and top with turkey.

Rainbow Fruit Skewers You will need: Wooden skewers Raspberries Strawberries Tangerine segments Peeled mango chunks Pineapple chunks Peeled kiwi chunks Green grapes Red grapes Blueberries Or any other fruit you like!

Put one piece of each of the fruit on to a skewer in the order of the colours of a rainbow, like those listed above. And that’s it! KA - p12-13 - 22 January.indd 2
