Football Fever It’s Cup Final Weekend

Calling all football fans! Are you ready for a super busy weekend? There are two football !nals taking place – one today (15 March) and one tomorrow (16 March) – and we think that you won’t want to miss either of them!

At 12.15pm today, the 2025 Subway Women’s League Cup will be coming to an end, as Chelsea and Manchester City battle it out at Pride Park Stadium! More than 20,000 fans will be packed into the stadium to see which team will take home the cup. Since the Women’s League Cup started in 2011, Manchester City have won four times and Chelsea have won twice – so this really will be a battle between two of the very best teams! If you’re looking for another fab !nal to watch, then you won’t want to miss the Carabao Cup Final tomorrow afternoon. Two teams will be going head-to-head at Wembley Stadium –Liverpool and Newcastle! The Carabao Cup started with 92 teams taking part, so Liverpool and Newcastle have been through some tough games to get to this !nal. Could it be Mo Salah or Alexander Isak that scores the winning goal? You’ll have to watch to !nd out!

So if you love football, make sure to catch both of these games this weekend. We think you’ll be cheering so much that you might have lost your voice by the end of them both!

You can watch the Women’s League Cup Final on BBC One at 12.15pm on 15 March. You can watch the Carabao Cup Final on ITV1, STV and Sky Sports at 4.30pm on 16 March.

What a weekend for football fans. What I love most about this weekend is the fact that the Women’s League Cup Final is going to be on TV too! When I was a kid, women’s football wasn’t on TV much. Now there are games on almost every week. This is because lots of people have put plenty of time into promoting women’s football so that others can see how great it is!

Women’s football needed people who cared about the sport to spread the word and show others how awesome it is. The same is true for Jesus! In Matthew 28:19 Jesus tells the disciples to go and tell others about him, so that they can know Jesus too. Although Jesus was talking to the disciples, this is his challenge for us too. So, how can you spread the word this week and let someone else know how awesome Jesus is?

Learning From Mistakes

ave you ever done something wrong and wished you could go back in time to change your actions? I know there have been lots of times where I’ve wished I could whip out a time machine to go back and act differently!

I’m pretty sure Peter from this week’s Bible cartoon wished he could go back in time and change his actions too! Despite being one of Jesus’ disciples, Peter makes a mistake – actually, he makes the same mistake three times!

Despite Peter making mistakes and letting Jesus down, Jesus forgave him. Peter also went on to become one of the most important people in creating the early Church and spreading the word about Jesus. Even though Peter wasn’t perfect and got things

wrong, Jesus still used him to do incredible things.

The truth is if we learn from our mistakes then they can make us better people. When I’ve said something that’s upset someone, I’ve learnt to think about my words more carefully in the future. If I’ve been too harsh when one of my daughters isn’t listening, I’ve learnt to be more patient.

If you look around any room that you’re in, every person in there will have made a mistake at some point. Even your parents, carers and teachers! Jesus doesn’t expect us to get everything right all of the time. As long as you’re doing your best to live like Jesus, asking him to forgive anything you do wrong and learning from mistakes, he can use you to do incredible things. Just like Peter!

Spot the Mistakes

There are five mistakes (or differences) in the picture on the right. Can you find them all?

Bumper Bible Breakdown

Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.

Hosea and Gomer

A man called Hosea lived in the northern kingdom of Israel before it was conquered by the Assyrians. One day, God told Hosea to marry a woman called Gomer. Together, Hosea and Gomer had three kids. Gomer didn’t really love Hosea, so she left him to go and do whatever she wanted! God told Hosea that the Israelites were a lot like Gomer because they did whatever they wanted, rather than love him! God said that the Israelites would be punished for not being faithful to him. Then he told Hosea to go and find Gomer. Gomer owed lots of money to people, but God wanted Hosea to give those people what they were owed. This would mean that Hosea could be with Gomer again! This was to be a sign of God’s love for Israel. Despite Israel’s faithlessness, God would not give up on them. He would save them!

Great British Spring Clean

If your bedroom ever gets a bit messy, then your parents or carers might ask you to clean it. They might even ask you to give it a spring clean, which means to give your room a proper, serious clean – even cleaning under your bed!

Spring cleans normally take place in … well, the spring (it’s in the name)! Since spring starts at the end of this week, people all around the United Kingdom are being asked to take part in a very special spring clean – a spring cleaning of the environment!

Everyone’s Responsible

The Great British Spring Clean is a week (and a few days extra) all about looking after the environment by picking up litter in the areas we live in. It starts on Friday (21 March) and runs until 6 April.

Last year, people agreed to pick up around 425,000 bags worth of litter. You might have even taken part! The theme of this year’s Great British Spring Clean is that everyone is responsible for looking after the environment – so if you’ve not gone litter picking before, why not get involved with this year’s spring clean?

Show That You Care

Protect Wildlife

Another excellent reason to pick up litter is because litter is terrible for wildlife. Millions of small animals are killed every year by litter –lots of small animals can get stuck in bottles and cans!

Litter doesn’t just disappear. Some litter can last for hundreds of years. While litter lies on the ground, it can release chemicals that are bad for the environment, which damages animals and plants.

One of the reasons why litter picking is such a fab thing to do is because it shows that you care about where you live. A recent survey showed that 31.6 million people living in the UK felt that if the streets were free of litter, then that would help them to love the place they live in more! So show how much you love the place that you live in by helping to keep it clean!

How Can You Help?

To take part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean, you could get a group of friends or family together and agree to collect some bags of litter. You can sign up to do this at keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/great-british-spring-clean.

The organisers of the Great British Spring Clean say that they would count a small bin bag that’s almost full as one bag of litter, but don’t panic if your bag has more or less litter than that! As long as you’re collecting litter, you’re doing a brilliant thing!

Litter-Picking Tips

Have you decided to take part in the Great British Spring Clean? If you have, here are some litter-picking tips to follow…

If you can get your hands on a litter picker grabber stick, then de!nitely use one. Whether you have one or not, make sure you wear gloves.

Wash your hands after you’ve been litter picking. It’s a good idea to take hand sanitiser with you.

Ask your parents or carers to get in touch with your local authority so that they can tell you what to do with all of the litter you’ve collected. If they’re not able to do that, then make sure that you recycle when you throw your rubbish away.

Don’t pick up anything that might hurt you, such as sharp objects. Also, don’t take risks when litter picking. For example, if you see some litter in a river, you shouldn’t jump in to get it!

Get your parents or carers to !ll in a special form after you’ve been litter picking. You can !nd this form at keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/ great-british-spring-clean/clean-preparation-and-safety-advice#. Scroll down to Reporting Your Results to !nd a link to the form.
