For football fans, Friday 20 September won’t just be a good day, or even just a great day – it will be a super day! That’s because the latest season of the Women’s Super League (otherwise known as the WSL) will kick off!

There are 12 super teams playing in the WSL and they’ll all be hoping for super results next weekend! And yes, we’ll keep on using the word ‘super’ because there’s no better way to describe how … well, super these matches are going to be!

The very frst match will see Aston Villa going up against Chelsea. Aston Villa will need to bring their

A game, because Chelsea will defnitely be a very hard team to beat! In fact, since the WSL frst started in 2010, Chelsea have won the competition seven times!

As well as the game between Aston Villa and Chelsea, there’ll be fve other games taking place next weekend. Whether you think Arsenal are amazing, Tottenham Hotspur are terrifc or West Ham are wonderful, there’ll be plenty of football for you to enjoy!

Why not get together with a few friends and watch a match or two? There are sure to be some super –yes, super – games of football!

Women’s Super League games will be broadcast on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC iPlayer or Sky Sports. Games that aren’t broadcast on television can be streamed live on the Barclays Women’s Super League YouTube channel at youtube.com/@BarclaysWSL.

Whenever I’ve been to a football match it’s been pretty obvious who the football fans are and what team they support. There will be football shirts, hats or scarves that show it clearly. I’ll also hear plenty of songs or chants for different teams or players. This makes me think about Jesus. How do people know that we’re Jesus’ followers? In The Salvation Army (who publish Kids Alive!) some people wear uniforms so others know what they believe. Other people wear church logo T-shirts. Those things are great, but for lots of us there might be no obvious sign.

Thankfully, we don’t need a shirt, hat or scarf to show people that we’re Jesus’ friends. It should be clear to them by the way we behave and the things that we say. Show Jesus’ love to others and tell them about him – then everyone will know that you follow Jesus!

Listen With Your Heart

In this week’s Bible cartoon, Jesus told the crowd a story called the Parable of the Sower. Jesus told many stories to help people understand what God and his Kingdom are like. But he didn’t make it easy! The parables Jesus told were full of hidden messages.

Jesus explained to his disciples that the messages in the stories were only for people who really wanted to know God and follow him. Sadly, many people acted like they did, but they didn’t want to truly follow his way for living.

Read the comment below about how we can show kindness to others

In this week’s Bible cartoon, these people were represented by the seeds that fell on the path, the rocky places and the ground covered in weeds. The message of God was unable to grow deep in their hearts.

But the seeds that fell on the good soil were like the people who not only chose to listen to God’s message with their ears, but chose to listen with their hearts too. They trusted the message and allowed it to change them from the inside out. Their lives were flled with love towards God and others.

Learning about God’s Kingdom is an exciting adventure that we get to go on too. However, that often means we have to be patient as we listen to Bible stories. The more we think about them and wonder how we can put them into action, the clearer the hidden messages become. Then just like the seeds in the good soil, God’s message is able to grow deep in our hearts!

Bumper Bible Breakdown

Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.

Solomon … Again!

Some of the people of Judah, now known as the Jews, had returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple. However, it was hard for the people to stay happy!

So a long book was written to let the people know that God had a plan. The second half of the book told the story of David’s son, Solomon, and the building of the Temple the frst time round!

Then the book went through the rest of the kings of Judah, up until the Jews were taken to Babylon. Although lots of these kings were bad (and bad is a bit of an understatement for some of them), the book showed that God was always in control!

Finally, the book ended by reminding the Jews of how they had left their captivity. They had a mission to rebuild the Temple, and they could be sure that God was with them!

Optical illusions use colour, light or patterns to confuse our brains – that means the illusions look different to what is actually there.

Move your eyes over this pattern quickly. You should see the hoops rippling like waves. The reason the pattern looks like it’s rippling is because of the light and dark edges of the rings – our brains process bright colours slightly faster than dark colours!

Living a healthy and an active lifestyle and caring for your physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

National Fitness Day

There are so many spectacular sporting events to watch on our TVs! We’ve just had the Olympics and Paralympics. Soon we’ll also be able to watch the Women’s Super League (turn to page 3 to fnd out more).

However, as fun as it is to watch other people play sport, it’s also important that we get active ourselves! That’s exactly what National Fitness Day is all about.

It’s National Fitness Day this Wednesday (18 September) and people all around the United Kingdom will be taking part!

National Fitness Day is a day dedicated to getting active. There’s no set sport that you have to do. Some people might be swapping their glasses for goggles, while others might be swapping their slippers for running shoes!

People won’t just be joining in for the fun of it (although getting active can defnitely be loads of fun). They’ll also be taking part because they want to get ft and healthy.

1

Your Health Is For Life

The theme of this year’s National Fitness Day is Your Health Is For Life. That’s a bit of a strange title, isn’t it? Well, it means two things.

You can’t get ft in one day! If you’ve not been active before, then National Fitness Day can be the start of your journey to getting ft and healthy.

2 Get Fit!

It’s important to look after your health! It can be easy to just think about what feels good to do today, such as eating a ginormous hamburger and spending all afternoon watching YouTube videos. However, it’s important to look after your health now so that you’re healthy in the future too!

Sporty Suggestions

Why not take part in National Fitness Day yourself? There are lots of different sporting events being hosted on Wednesday all around the UK. To fnd one near you, check out nationalfitnessday.com/finder.

However, if you don’t feel like taking part in an event, here are a few suggestions for some sporty activities that you could get up to!

Gather some friends and family and go for a group walk! Walks are great because you get to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with people you love and get ft. You could even turn your walk into a game, such as a scavenger hunt.

If you’re going for a long walk, make sure you take some water with you, especially if it’s a hot day. And don’t forget to put on sunscreen!

Fantastic Football

Bukayo Saka, Lauren James and Vivianne Miedema are fantastic footballers, but you don’t need to be a brilliant footballer to enjoy having a kickabout! Team up with some friends to put on your own football match. You don’t even need to have real goals – you can just use a few jumpers to mark the goalposts!

Superb Swimming Wonderful Walking

When you play football, you’ll probably run around a lot and that can be fab for improving your ftness.

If you know how to swim, then you could ask a parent or carer to take you swimming this Wednesday! Swimming is superb because it works out lots of different parts of the body. It’s not only good for you – it’s also really fun. If you don’t know how to swim, you could talk to your parents or carers about possibly getting lessons.

Whether you’re swimming breaststroke, backstroke, front crawl or butterfy (not to be mistaken for the insect), you’ll probably have a brilliant time!
