As a graphic designer, it is imperitive that you pick the right catagory of type for the right purpose. e.g. block type for headers and titles. Making the wrong choice can seriously reduce the legibility and readabilty.

these are the four main catagories of typography. gothic type is san serif, simple and easy to read. Script font derives from the calligraphy. Block typefaces are easy to read from a distance, and are high impact, hence the reason it is used for headlines and titles. roman type is a serif fonr mainly used for body copy.

USED WHEN DESIGNING FOR PRINT, CMYK CONSISTS OF 4 PLATES, CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW AND KEY [BLACK], THESE COLOURS ABSORB LIGHT AND ARE CALLED SUBTRACTIVE COLOURS, THE MORE COLOURS YOU MIX THE DARKER THE COLOUR DUE TO THE DICLINE IN REFLECTION.

THE COLOURS RED, GREEN AND BLUE ARE THE PRIMARY COLOURS OF A MONITOR, MIXED TOGETER THE PIXELS MAKE A WIDE RANGE OF COLOURS. WHEN YOU MIX ALL THE PRIMARY COLOUR TOGETER THE COLOURS GET LIGHTER, ULTIMATELY MAKING THE COLOUR WHITE, THIS IS KNOWN AS ADDITIVE COLOUR.
Research is paramount to everything you do as a graphic designer, it helps form the basis of your entire brief. it can also help to motivate and stimulate idea generation. Knowing the difference between the two is very important so that you can have the most varied and wide range of research possible.

Primary research involves the collection of data that does not already exist, which is research to collect it is often quantative data sourced from questionaires and interviews it can give a real insight in to the target audience.

Secondary research involves the summary, collation and or synthesis of existing research rather than primary research, where data is collected from, for example, research subjects or experiments. it often involves looking at other designers workto gain inspiration, and ideas.
