COLOR REPORT MENSWEAR A/W 2015

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR “I’m crazy for color. Color embraces you. It wakes you up and keeps you present.”- Tracy Reese Color, without a doubt, is bursting at the seams this season. With trends that display anywhere from winter wonderlands and natural elements to metallic leathers, men are becoming more comfortable in embracing boldness in fashion. Our first color story is that of a wintery escape, we call it Isolation. It is comprised of eggshell blue, mercury, balsam, mint, snow white with accents of slightly darker tones of jet black and nightshade. The colors are arranged in such a way to reveal grain and marble-like textures within the clothing. Landscapes like snow-capped mountains and everest tress make up breath-taking prints for men’s apparel this season.

“Clothes and manners do not make the man; but when he is made, they greatly improve his appearance.” - Arthur Ashe

Color remains important for tailored looks in our Structure trend, where warm tones of grey stand out as a strong message, from darkest lead through to shale and lighter mineral. Rich blues, from dark indigo to lapis, update navy, along with timeless black. Traditional tones of dark camel and olive refresh seasonal neutrals, while warm reds such as oxblood and raisin remain relevant for evening-inspired looks. Darker, saturated levels are coming through at the directional fashion end of the market, including Hunter green, bitter chocolate and damson. In our trend titled Effervesence, bright and bold colors such as canary yellow, tangerine, evergreen and sky blue bright up any man’s waredrobe this winter. It’s vibrance brings life to winter jackets, pants, sweaters and more. Last but certaintly not least we end with emphasizing the cooler end of the color spectrum, with cool peacock blues and jade greens working alongside blush golds to update core silhouettes such as the biker and commuter coat. We hope you enjoy these trends as much as we have!

ISOLATION Designers took inspiration from natural elements such as marble, wood, water, mountains and the atmosphere. Marble was one of the most popular prints, creating a textural surface that also provided an alternative to traditional camouflage. Like marble, wood created a textured look with both muddied and photoreal grain prints. Additional prints extended from snow-capped mountains to the stratosphere.
