Site Analysis
Circulation
I produced a few mappings to understand Concrete Lawn better. With this, I was able to understand how people move around the site and analyse how the layout of the site influences people’s behavioural patterns.
Edge
Spatial Composition This involved the exploration of basic rules and principles that can create a complex end results. I decided to use triangles as the basis of this task and created an abstract form of my interpretation of a spatial composition.
Model
Landforming
Model This involved the extrusion and subtraction of land space. I decided to create a landform that was part of a building, taking on an architectural approach to the task.
Assemblage For my assemblage, I explored the concept of disjunction (the celebration of difference) and created a model that was slightly chaotic but still pleasing to the eye.
Model
Made of nature, sheltered by nature. A cat, sleeping on it. The market, beside it, selling invincible products.
Spatio-Temporal Narrative
“Hi! Erm, what’s good here?” Crowded as usual, but barely a sound. “Eton mess is our best seller!” “Great, I’ll have it!” “Take a seat, we’ll treat you shortly”. Its purpose has not changed, but functions differently now. A counterintuitive shelter as the sky never shines. Soon, ballerinas arrive with face paint and dance away. No one except the customer can see. “Are you content, sir?” “No, what other Joys do you sell?” “Alright, let me show you”

Final Design
Full Section 1:100 My final design involves the concept of ‘Happiness’. With the different types of metal used in the model, the concept of hapiness links with how we keep exploring new forms of happiness and how we are never satisfied with what we have. Just like the narrative, the protagonist continues to seek different forms of ‘Joy’. I also had to consider each element of the design and how they fit in the concept of ‘Occupy’ to ensure that each element had a purpose that will influence the way people interact with the space.
