Basic Design - Exploring S. H. Raza
Semester 2 - November 2015 - April 2016
Reworked and Presented to Council of Architecture - Online Training Program - Beyond Basic Design - 15th March 2021.
Aims and objectives: Art is the reflection of events happening around us and we wanted them to study philosophical influences on art. Raza was greatly influenced by his trips to Banaras, Gujarat and Rajasthan, made him realize his role and study Indian culture more closely, the result was ‘Bindu’ and then he added new elements like triangles.
Process: We introduced S.H Raza as an artist from the modern art period in the class. We studied these paintings in detail and reinterpreted the same paintings as 3-D and created spaces for exhibition.

Vakdipada Tribal Settlement
Semester 4 - October 2016 - April 2017
Project designing an Tribal Settlement in Vakdipada near Dahanu.
This was a documentation based design process, the entire class was on site documenting existing Padas deep inside a jungle.
For Individual projects, a hypothetical scenario was placed as a challenge, to relocated 9 families within the Warli Tribal Village, so that not to alienate newcomers neither to intimidate earlier residents with swanky new painted houses.
All Natural Materials required for building purposes were discussed and utilized according to feasibility of the person who will build their own house themselves.

Tribal People in India have certain freedoms to use forest resources and timber is available readily for them.
Tradition of kitchen being an outdoors function followed as firewood is used.
Storage space for crops formalized into the house, moving it indoor from an outdoor environment.
Walls made from rammed earth adds extra insulation from weather elements as well as formalizes the house in the eyes of local self goverment.

Design Dissertation - Embassy of India in Accra was a project I had taken up to look into culturally symbollic architecture which merges form with the function of specialized buildings with highly functional diplomatic spaces. The major sources of inspiration were ancient Indian palaces, caravan serais and rest stops. All of the features of these three were found in the stepwells of Gujarat which became the main inspiration for the leveling of site and design of underground spaces.
An underground building provided a sense of security as well as not making the Embassy look pompous in a less fortunate foreign country. The materials were an ode to India’s postIndepence Modern style of architecture as well as keeping the structure simple and the costs low.

Trophy - The Naggar Castle
Semester 4 - October 2016 - February 2017
I had participated in the Louise. I. Kahn Trophy of NASA India, in Second Year, as an Ink Drafter to work on the Final Documentation Sheets. Workshops were conducted before starting any work on site in which parallel learning was achieved from college seniors. I had been on the site visit to Naggar Castle, Himachal Pradesh on extremely short notice.
The Team Leaders taught me the invaluable skills of Heritage Documentation and Architectural Archival Photography.

Design Cell Landscape Architects
Luxury Casa in Assagao , Goa
At Design Cell, I was handed the responsibility to make drawings, Revit models and renderings of a luxury casa in Assagao , Goa under the guidance of Prof. Ravi Punde..
The plot of land the casa was to be built upon was a unusual 107m long and just a 13 m wide. This meant that the casa had to be linear and had to be divided into multiple zones of use, which would help to specific public and private hierarchy. The private spaces, indoors, like living room and dining room are being replicated outdoors as a covered dining area as well as a double heighted Pavillion. The site various natural trees. The entire house has being designed keeping landscape design in mind, including elements like Koi Pond, Swimming pool, lawns and planter beds.
We made multiple design versions of the Casa, which went on for a year of client discussions, as well as issued GFC Drawings, when finalized. Project is soon to Start Construction.

Upcoming Museum at Adani Shantigram, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
At Design Cell, I was handed the responsibility to make drawings, Revit models and renderings of Landscape Architecture of the mentioned project under the guidance of Prof. Ravi Punde and an associate of the firm.
The Site had to accomodate parking requirements underground hence most landscape work is done on top of a sunken Podium at ground level. Such and other obstacles were discussed multiple times back and fourth with the Architects, P.K. Das. & Assoc, as well as a flury of consultants they hired to work on the consolidated project.
I issued the Tender Drawings for landscape design. The Project is under stages of planning hence other details cant be shared to a open level.
